Chapter 94
Lorenzo POV…
It was almost 2 years that Angelina was missing, and I was more devastated than her. I punished Sophia and Michael. I made them bankrupt, and now Sophia and Michael were behind bars. They were doing illegal things.
I sighed and rubbed my temples. I had spent all my time in my office and building my empire, more and more. I had to focus on my work. I had a meeting with a multinational company in Huawei next week, and I needed to be prepared.
Lincoln, knocked on the door and entered the office after I allowed him to come in.
“Mr. Lorenzo,” Lincoln said. “I have a reminder for you. You have a meeting with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. next week in Huawei.”
“Yes, I know Lincoln,” I said. “Thank you for the reminder.”
“Is there anything else I can help you with, Mr. Lorenzo?” Lincoln asked.
“No, thank you, Lincoln,” I said. “That's all.”
Lincoln nodded and left the office.
I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and tried to clear my mind. I needed to focus on my meeting with Huawei. It was also an important client.
I knew that it would be difficult to work in Huawei without thinking about Angelina. But I was determined to be professional. I was determined to put my personal feelings aside. I hadn't stopped searching for her.
The next week
I arrived at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. for my meeting. I was greeted by a secretary who led me to the conference room where the meeting would be held.
I sat down at the conference table and waited for the meeting to begin. A few minutes later, a group of people entered the room. They were wearing suits.
“Mr. Lorenzo,” one of the men said. “It's a pleasure to meet you.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” I said and nodded at them.
The man introduced himself as Mr. Chen, the CEO of Huawei. He then introduced the other people in the room, who were all senior executives of the company.
Mr. Chen and I sat down at the head of the table, and the meeting began. I was listening to everything carefully. I had neglected my work for too long, but I didn't understand why my heart was beating faster than normal. I felt like something was going to happen.
Mr. Chen explained that Huawei was searching for a partner to help them design and build a new corporate headquarters. He said that Huawei was impressed with my work, and they were interested in learning more about my proposal.
I also gave a presentation about my proposal, and the Huawei executives were impressed. They asked me a few questions, and I answered them confidently.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Chen thanked me for my time. He said that Huawei would be in touch soon. I nodded and moved away.
I left the meeting room feeling confident. I knew that I had a good chance of landing the deal. I was confident about my proposal and ideas.
I walked out of the Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. office building, feeling confident about my meeting. I was walking down the street when I saw a familiar figure. I stopped in my tracks. It was Angelina.
Angelina was also walking down the street. She was so focused on her thoughts that she didn't see me until she bumped into me.
“Oh, I'm so sorry,” Angelina said without looking at me, while I was looking at her shocked. I couldn't believe that I found her.
I looked at Angelina again and again and my heart skipped a beat looking at the love of my life. It had been two years since I had seen her, but she was still as beautiful as ever.
“It's okay,” I said, still looking at her, “It was an accident.”
Angelina looked at me with wide eyes, and then her eyes widened more and there was an emotion of fear. I was broken, seeing fear in her eyes for me.
We stood there for a moment, looking at each other. We were both shocked to see each other after so long.
“Lorenzo?” Angelina said in a questioning manner. “What are you doing here?”
“I'm on a business trip,” I said. “I'm meeting with a potential client.”
“Oh,” Angelina said. “I see.”
There was a silence between us. I wanted to talk to Angelina, but I didn't know what to say. I had hurt her so badly unintentionally, and I didn't know if she would ever forgive me for something I never did.
“I should go,” Angelina said.
“Wait,” I said. “Can we talk?” I would rather not make a scene here.
Angelina hesitated for a moment. Then she shook her head. She was hesitant to talk to me now.
“I don't think so,” she said. “I don't have anything to say to you.”
She turned and walked away. I watched her go, my heart aching. I knew that it wouldn't be easy to manage her, but I would stop at nothing. I needed to meet her soon. I would tell her everything about me and Sophia.
I returned to my apartment here in Hawaii. I had booked this because I wanted to be here for Angelina. I wanted to know if we had a baby or had she aborted the baby.
I sat in my study room in my apartment staring at the phone in my hand. I have been in Hawaii for a week now, and I still couldn't get Angelina and that little boy out of my mind. Did it mean that I had a boy? I was so overwhelmed with the fact that she didn't abort the baby.
I sighed and picked up the phone. I dialed Lincoln's number.
“Lincoln,” I said. “It's me.”
“Yes, Mr. Lorenzo,” Lincoln said. “How can I help you?”
“I need you to handle all of my meetings for the next month,” I said. “I'm going to be staying in Huawei.”
“Yes, Mr. Lorenzo,” Lincoln said. “I understand.”
“Thank you, Lincoln,” I said. “I couldn't do it without you.”
“It's my pleasure, Mr. Lorenzo,” Lincoln said.
I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I knew that I had to stay focused on how to do everything. But it was hard when all I could think about was Angelina and my baby.
I found Angelina's number and I got to know that she worked for the same company, with whom I was going to sign the deal.
I picked up my phone and dialed Angelina's number. I waited nervously as the phone rang.
Finally, Angelina answered.
“Hello?” she said.
“Angelina,” I said. “It's me.”
There was a silence on the other end of the line.
“Angelina,” I said again. “Are you there?”
“Yes,” Angelina said. “I'm here.”
“I need to see you, please,” I said. “I need to talk to you.”
I could feel Angelina hesitating for a moment. Then she said, “Okay. Fine.”
“Where do you want to meet?” I asked.
“Meet me at the park tomorrow at noon,” Angelina said.
“Okay, thank you,” I said. “I'll be there.”
I hung up the phone and took a deep breath. I was finally going to see Angelina again. I was determined to win her back. I had to be prepared for everything.
The next day, when I entered the park, it was filled with people. (damn why she had to invite me here, in such a crowded place).
I asked her about herself, and then I mentioned our baby. She visibly tensed but then nodded. I asked permission if I could meet him. She said that she wanted some time to think about everything. With that, she left me there watching her back as she went away from the park.
I was trying to convince her, but she was not ready to listen to anything, I was going to say, so I just nodded at her when she was leaving.
