Chapter 122 Twins

Chapter 122 Twins

But how could it be Helen?

Hazel shook her head and dispelled the thoughts from her mind.

At that moment, Matilda had already led the maids away and Hazel quickly forgot about it.

Not long after, Albert arrived.

“There is mild poison in the blade wound. Fortunately, you called for me on time, or your body foundation would be affected.” He said seriously as he tended to my wounds.

After doing that, he did the same for Alex’s wounds.

“I have other things to attend to, so I will leave now.” Albert said and began to gather his materials before leaving.

Alex’s gaze darted between Hazel and Damien, but after a while, he still decided to leave, albeit unwillingly.

After Alex walked out of the study room, he had a frown on his face. His brain ran at full speed as he thought about the events that had just happened.

The ambush seemed to have been planned prior to that day. Nothing about what happened today made sense.

By the time he reached his chambers, his expression wasn't very good. Just as he was about to push the door open, he suddenly stopped.

Something was different. He never leaves his door half-opened.

His eyes narrowed slightly. He didn’t make a sound, nor did he move for a while.

Someone was inside.

Alex slipped in through the gap of the half-opened door and stepped inside slowly, his steps making no sound against the floor.

As soon as he entered, he saw a figure dressed in maids outfit rummaging through a stack of scrolls he had placed on his side stool before.

Then his eyes turned cold.

“What do you think you are doing?” He asked, his voice ice-cold.

The sudden voice startled the maid and she quickly turned around.

When Alex saw her face, he was momentarily stunned.

The maid was good-looking, especially with those pairs of grey eyes that could capture anybody’s attention. She had delicate features and a petite physique.

“S…second beta…” The maid stammered, her body trembling slightly.

Her voice brought Alex back to his senses and his expression turned dark. To think that he would be speechless by a maid’s beauty, was something wrong with his head?”

“I asked, what are you doing here?” He asked again, his voice dropping low into a growl.

The maid lowered her head nervously, “I…I am one of the new maids, Second Beta. I was assigned to serve your afternoon tea, b…but I mistakenly dirtied your stuff. I was trying to arrange them properly.”

Alex sneered, “You did not look like you were arranging, it was more like you were checking through the scrolls.”

Her face went pale with fright. “I wasn’t, I was really arranging it.” She said fearfully and Alex nodded noncommittally.

He stared at her for a few more seconds and said, “Leave.”

The maid seemed relieved, she nodded and quickly rushed towards the door.

Just as she bypassed Alex, he suddenly moved.

In the next second, he slammed her back against the door, his hand pressing on her shoulder as he pinned her in place with a dagger placed on her throat.

He was fast and ruthless, not giving her a chance at all.

The maid gasped, her eyes wide with fear as she stood still, not daring to move or say a word and just trembled in place.

“P…please, I didn’t do anything.” She cried, tears of terror welling in her eyes.

Alex studied her for a while, watching for any sign or flaws and when he saw none, he released her.

The maid nearly collapsed to the ground, her knees shaking slightly.

Alex stepped back slowly, his expression unreadable.

“What is your name?” He asked, keeping his knife.

He was merely testing her earlier, wanting to see if she would get defensive.

The maid swallowed, her voice barely stable as she replied.

“H…Helen.”

He turned away and said, “Get out.”

Helen didn’t need to be told twice, she scurried out of the chamber like she was being chased. She even forgot to close the door behind her and her rushed footsteps echoed in the hallway.

Alex furrowed his brows, then suddenly let out a breath.

He must be thinking too much.

It’s just that something about this Helen didn’t feel right to him.

Helen rushed away and when she was at a considerable distance away from Alex’s chamber, she abruptly stopped.

The fear on her face faded like it was never there and in its place was coldness and indifference.

“That was close, I had been careless. Fortunately, I reacted on time. If not, I would have been caught before I even did anything.” She muttered to herself with her head lowered.

“Alex, such an interesting person.” She whispered, before walking away.

But if you looked carefully, you would see that she was approaching Hazel's chamber.

Hazel had just got back from Damien’s study room. He merely told her not to go anywhere for the next few days, but Hazel had been expecting more.

She let out a frustrated sigh and opened the door to her chamber. Just as she was about to close the door, a figure slipped in.

“Who…” Hazel was about to speak when a soft hand covered her mouth and the door was slammed shut.

Hazel's heart thumped wildly and she thought back to the event that day. Could it be that Ghost commander ninety really came back?

Hazel secretly dipped her hands to her sleeves and was about to bring out the dagger when she heard a voice that sounded too familiar.

“It’s me, Young Miss.”

The person let go of her and Hazel slowly turned around to see a familiar face.

“Helen?”

Helen smiled slightly, “I’m glad you still remember my face.”

“You are alive as well?” Hazel asked in incredulity.

“Of course.”

Helen was Hannah’s fraternal twin sister. If Hannah was gentle and average looking, then Helen was the exact opposite. She was fearless, bold and good-looking.

They were very different, so most people didn’t know that they were twins.
