Chapter 118 Black fang hall

Chapter 118 Black fang hall

Moments later, the jewelry was already paid for and packaged inside a pouch before it was handed over to Hazel. She glanced at Alex, about to say something but when she saw the smile on his face, she sighed and let it be.

It was only this one time after all. She does not have to make too much fuss about it since Alex himself was not complaining.

The shop owner was beaming with delight, it has been a while since he had encountered a customer who was willing to spend hundreds of gold coins on a go.

His commission would be higher, so he was happy and could not help but remind Hazel and Alex to visit again.

He personally sent them to the door, feeling somewhat regretful that the young lady was reserved. If not because of her persistence in only getting one jewelry, the young man had been willing to purchase more expensive jewelry for her.

The shop owner would have been rolling on the ground in joy. But that one jewelry they got was not bad either.

“You are impossible, you know that right?” Hazel mumbled and Alex grinned.

“I’ve heard that before too.” Seeing her exasperated expression, he added, “You don’t have to worry too much about it, you deserve all the expensive things.”

Hazel didn’t know what to say to that and fell silent. Alex was not in a rush, he knew Hazel was not a materialistic kind of person, and he didn’t plan on winning her over with something like that.

He just wanted to take care of her.

Moreover, he really felt that the neck piece would look good on her, and money was never his problem. So he had no qualms.

“So tell me, why don’t you like jewelry?”

“Well, it makes me look too effeminate and I don’t like iy.”

He chuckled, “Is looking effeminate a bad thing?”

They chatted slowly as they left the jewelry shop and towards a game shop. By the time they left the place, it was already getting late.

The orange hue of sunset stretched across the sky, slowly giving the way to dusk. Hazel could not really remember the way back since she had not been paying attention, so Alex led the way to the place he had told the coachman to pick them up.

“I hope you had a nice time.” Alex said, staring at Hazel beside him gently.

Hazel nodded, “I did, thank you.”

She wasn’t lying. She had really enjoyed herself throughout the day, Alex seems to know everywhere fun around here and she did not regret coming out with him.

But after today, she had plans on letting him know about her feelings. She did not want to give him hopes, even though she had been indirectly doing that for a while now.

Hazel had no idea how things would go between her and Damien, but it is certain that her heart does not beat for Alex and she could not lie about it.

Alex noticed that Hazel had been quiet for a while and he began racking his brains to bring up a conversation, but nothing came to mind.

They passed through a narrow alleyway, a short cut that leads to the road close to where the carriage was waiting. Both of them had different thoughts in their mind, and the air around them was silent.

Until Alex’s ears perked up.

He paused in an instant and turned to Hazel, who also had a frown on her face.

“Something is wrong.” Hazel pointed out.

“You feel it too?” He asked, surprised. He had always prided himself for his sharp instincts and the fact that Hazel was also the same made him somehow surprised.

That was the benefit of being with a woman who wasn't weak. You don’t have to say much before they understand.

“Yes.” She replied, her hand slowly reaching for the dagger she always kept hidden in her wide sleeves.

Of course she felt it. It was too quiet.

The air felt wrong and heavy. As a warrior, the first you must know to do was how to feel the atmosphere for signs of something going wrong.

Alex’s hand also reached for the weapons hidden under his shirt. If he had not reached for it, you wouldn’t even know that there was something there.

Neither of them spoke as they observed the air.

Then, they heard a voice.

“As expected of the dual blade demon of the dark shadow pack. Your reputation precedes you, Second beta.”

Then, footsteps.

And gradually, Alex’s expression turned grim.

Figures emerged from the shadows in black cloaks that covered their entire bodies and faces, they had different weapons in hands, sharp enough to pierce through any hindrance.

Their presence was silent, making Alex realize that they were trained assassins.

One, two…

By the time Alex reacted, they'd been surrounded by more than thirty men whose aura wasn't weak at all, especially with one in lead who was wearing a ghost mask.

“What do you want?” Alex was straightforward. He did not bother to beat around the bush as he asked.

The man in lead chuckled darkly, “We won’t do anything to the second beta if he doesn’t block us. What we want is the woman beside you, you are free to leave.”

Hazel's expression turned cold.

“What do you want with me?” She asked.

“We don’t want you. Someone paid for you and we are merely following orders.” The man said and Hazel tightened her hold on the hilt of her dagger.

Alex said, “Let us go, I will pay you a hundred price higher than you were initially paid.”

There was silence for a while before the man burst out laughing.

“Do I have to remind the second beta that people from my Black fang hall can only have one client at a time?”

When Alex heard that name, his pupils shrank instantly.

“Black fang hall? The biggest assassination hall in the east?”
