Chapter 119 The rescue
Chapter 119 The rescue
“Alex, watch out!” Hazel saw the Ghost commander dash towards Alex, but because Alec had his back turned, he failed to notice on time.
By the time he realized, he only managed to escape the Ghost commander’s attack by a small margin.
The Ghost commander was slightly surprised at Alex’s fast reaction, but that did not stop him from slashing his blade at Alex for the second time.
He had warmed Alex and since he refused to take his good will, he had no qualms eliminating him.
The narrow alley had long lost its silence, what could be heard was the sound of blades clashing against each other ans the squelching sound of flesh being penetrated.
The metallic scent of blood clung to every corner of the air, and the earth was already stained with blood, making the atmosphere eerie.
Dead bodies laid sprawled on the ground, blood gushing from the wounds on their necks and other parts of the body. The other assassins did not care about the death of their fellow clansmen, they rushed at Hazel ferociously while wielding their weapons.
An assassin managed to slash Hazel’s arm with his blade, and Hazel retreated slightly while clutching her bleeding arm. The assassin did not give her the chance to rest and followed it up with another attack, closing in on Hasel gradually.
Hazel managed to hold them off, but she knew that the situation wouldn’t last long. She raised her head and saw that Alex was having a hard time defending against the Ghost commander’s attack. He could only retreat each time, giving more chances to his opponents.
Hazel pressed her lips together and even began to think of surrendering. She would have fought to death if it had only been her, but Alex was here. She did not want him injured because of her, she won’t be able to stop blaming herself if that happened.
The ghost commander moved like a shadow, his next move always unpredictable which gave Alex a harder time. Moreover, it wasn't just the ghost assassin who was attacking him, other fang assassin jad also joined the battle.
The fang assassins were initially difficult to deal with due to their numbers because they kept coming, but with the addition of the ghost commander, Alex soon got injured.
The ghost commander slashed his blade at Alex once again, his aim happened to be Alex’s throat. Alex’s pupils shrank and he quickly retreated back.
He managed to dodge the attack, but a line of wound appeared on his cheek, with drops of blood trickling down slowly.
Alex’s expression was very bad. If this continues, neither of them would be able to leave this place alive.
The assassins kept coming and the ghost commander did not cease in his attacks.
Hazel's dagger flashed quick, her body light as she dodged incoming attacks. She dropped low, sinking her dagger into the thighs of one of the assassins, then she brought the dagger upward through his flesh, before stopping on his chest
The assassin froze, then after Hazel removed her dagger, he fell with a loud thud.
But while Hazel was not paying attention, an assassin managed to land a blow on her from the back. Fortunately, she reacted on time after feeling the presence behind her, but her back was still slashed with the saber.
The pain made her groan, reaching Alex.
“Hazel!” He yelled, seeing her back where the saber wound was obvious. His visage contorted, “Son of a butch!”
He tried to rush over, but would the ghost commander allow him?
The answer was definitely a no.
Ghost commander ninety blocked his path calmly and chuckled, “Where does the second beta think he’s going? Your opponent is me, let’s see if you can leave this place alive.”
Alex gritted his teeth, feeling rage boiling through him.
“Get out of my way!” He bellowed, but the ghost commander only snickered as though he was enjoying every little bit of what was happening.
In his fury, Alex’s attack grew frenzied and certainly, flaws began to appear in his moves and the ghost commander took advantage of it.
In the next moment, a kick made Alex retreat backward explosively and in the next moment, he spurted out mouthfuls of blood. The ghost commander had not held back on that kick at all, and Alex could feel his blood churning, there was a high chance that one of his ribs had broken as well.
“It’s not too late to admit defeat. I can still pretend that I didn’t see you here.” Ghost commander ninety said.
Alex sneered, “Scram!”
Hazel's breathing had already gotten heavier, her movements were no longer as light and effortless as it was from the beginning. Every few minutes, a wound would appear on her body and the wounds kept increasing.
Blood trickled down the corner of her lips, but she held her dagger tightly in her hands. There was no point morphing, because it would only decrease her chances of winning as her opponents were too much. Moreover, her wolf body won’t be able to dodge so many attacks at once no matter how agile it was.
Alex also had the same thoughts.
Seeing that neither Alex, nor Hazel was willing to give up, Ghost Commander ninety clicked his tongue and his attacks became even more ruthless.
He had wasted too much time here, he had never taken so long in all his previous missions before and the thought didn’t make him feel so good.
If he could capture Hazel this time, his contributions would increase and he would be promoted to the eighty ninth rank, he could not afford any mistakes happening at the moment.
Alex retreated explosively, his dual blades unable to protect him at that moment, and he could only just defend. His body was about to give in, he could not hold on anymore.
Just as both Hazel and Alex were at their wits end, a figure flashed over and Ghost commander’s body was suddenly flung a few meters away like a rag doll.
