Chapter 114 Danger Brewing in the dark

Damien’s gaze landed on Alex, cold and sharp.

“And?” He asked.

Alex’s lips curled into a slight, confident smile. “Ans she already agreed.”

The tension suddenly thickened between them, but Alex was also not a man to be trifled with. He did not back down, nor did he admit defeat.

Even though Damien has always been stronger, Alex was not willing to give Hazel up just like that even when the man involved was his best friend and Alpha.

To him, they both had a fair chance to fight for Hazel’s hand and he does not plan on losing to Damien. He wanted Hazel and he was willing to do what it takes to have her, regardless.

The aura clash was invisible, but suffocating.

No one noticed the look of excitement that lingered in Little Red’s eyes as though watching both men in a standoff was what she had been waiting to witness for a while. It jumped down from Hazel's hold and stayed by the side, watching the show.

The only thing the little cub was missing was just snacks to pass time.

Hazel stood between them, her brows slowly furrowing.

“I wasn’t asking.” Damien finally said.

And that was it.

The last snap.

Hazel gritted her teeth, annoyed.

If he had just spoken normally, she would have listened.

Then, without waiting for the next thing Damien had to say, Hazel grabbed Alex’s hand and pulled him away without another look at Damien.

She might like him now but she would never allow him to speak to her in such a manner.

Ordering her back like she was nothing more than something to be kept?

“Let’s go.” She told Alex, and the latter didn’t argue and allowed her to drag him away.

There was a faint smile at the corner of his lips. Even as they walked farther away, Hazel did not let go. Truth be told, it was only because she had something in mind, but Alex completely misunderstood and his smile wouldn’t recede.

The moment they walked past him, Damien’s jaw tightened with anger. Actually, he knew he shouldn’t have spoken to Hazel in such a manner but he just couldn’t endure having Alex all over her like he owns her.

So, Damien did that to prove something to Hazel. Unfortunately, he did it the wrong way and ended up annoying Hazel.

But he did not turn, nor did he stop them.

He simply stood there. Then after a second, he felt something pulling the fabric of his trousers and he looked down to meet a pair of red eyes.

“What, shouldn’t you follow them? Don’t you like Alex more too?” Damien asked the little thing, his tone dripping with sarcasm and a faint jealousy he would rather not admit.

Even he did not notice how childish he sounded at that moment.

Little Red whined and pressed her small head to Damien’s legs as though telling him that she likes Damien more.

Unconsciously, Damien’s expression eased slightly, but it was still somewhat unsightly.

“Keep an eye on them.” He said to the Little thing, knowing exactly how smart she was.

Little Red nodded earnestly and Damien finally leaned down slightly to pat her head like he was rewarding her for listening. She leaned into his touch instantly without shame.

That was when the necklace Damien had always kept with him shone dimly. Damien did not notice, but Little Red did.

Her red eyes turned slightly serious, but she quickly averted her gaze and Damien did not notice anything different.

After a while, Little Red scurried off towards the direction Hazel and Alex had left in.

Damien remained there for a while and mumbled, “Actually, this is for the best. Isn’t it? So why…” He did not finish his statement as he finally turned to leave.

…

At the entrance of the mansion, a few guards quickly stepped forward in an attempt to follow Alex and Hazel just as they were about to enter the carriage in front of them.

Alex’s brow furrowed tightly and he stopped.

He turned back sharply and the guards halted.

“What do you think you are all doing?” He asked coldly.

One of them quickly replied, “Second beta, we were instructed to…”

“To follow us and keep an eye on us?” Alex cut the guard short.

“No, we…”

Alex let out a short, mirthless laugh. “I see.” Then, his eyes turned cold. “Go back.”

“Second Beta, we have to follow orders to…”

“I said, go back.” He repeated, his voice lower and deeper. “Or do you want me to repeat myself?”

The guards exchanged glances and after a moment of hesitation, they lowered their heads and retreated.

“Yes, second beta.”

Alex watched them leave and scoffed.

He had no doubt that it was Damien who ordered them to follow him and Hazel, to keep an eye on them.

It was his first time going out with Hazel, Alex did not want anything to go wrong and definitely did not want to be under the watchful eyes of others.

Alex turned back to Hazel, whose expression was calm, “Sorry about that. Let’s go now.”

Alex studied her for a moment and seeing that she was not angry, he smiled again and led her towards the carriage.

As the carriage sped away a pair of cold eyes watched the carriage leave from the shadows.

The person remained there for a while, before a deep voice rang out, “She left with the second beta, this is a good chance for us and we must not miss it.”

“Shall we make a move now?”

“Wait for a while. The plan needs to be carried out flawlessly. We must capture her at once.”

“What about the beta? Just injure him.”

“I mean, can we take him down?”

“They have no guards with them, we will outnumber them. Tell the rest to join us.”

“Yes.”

Neither Hazel nor Alex knew the danger that was brewing in the dark.
