Chapter 113 Clashing Aura

Chapter 113 Clashing Aura

The next morning arrived quietly and quickly, but even before the first ray of sunlight seeped into the room, Hazel was already awake.

She stood by the window, absentmindedly stroking Little Red’s fur. For some reasons she could not understand, she felt restless and uneasy as if something bad was about to happen.

The last time she had this feeling was when her family was attacked and her pack was wiped out. The feeling made her slightly fearful.

Yet, having no idea of what could happen made it even worse.

“Little Red, I am feeling somehow anxious like something bad would happen.” Hazel mumbled and Little Red raised her head slightly to stare at Hazel.

A glint flashed in Little Red’s eyes, but it quickly disappeared. Then, the little cub raised her paws and patted the back of Hazel's hand reassuringly.

Hasel heaved a sigh and decided not to think too much about it. No matter what happens later, she will face it courageously.

That was when a soft knock sounded from the door.

Hazel already knew who it was without even turning around.

“Hazel?” Alex’s voice rang out.

“Come in.” She said calmly, remaining in the same position with her back still turned to the entrance.

Alex walked in, the usual smile at the corner of his lips.

“Good morning.” He greeted her lightly.

Hazel finally turned, “Good morning.”

Alex studied her for a while and then asked, “You didn’t forget, did you?”

Hazel raised her brow, slightly baffled.

“Forget what?”

Alex, who was expecting that response, shook his head helplessly. “The stroll. The one we agreed on.”

A look of realization flashed in Hazel’s mind as she remembered, then she frowned.

Considering how uneasy she felt, it wasn't really ideal to go anywhere.

Alex obviously saw the hesitation in her eyes and placed a hand over his chest in mock pain, “Hazel, are you trying to go back on your words? I already prepared everything.”

Hazel stared at the dramatic man and finally relented.

“Fine, fine. I will go, stop acting as though I have committed an heinous crime or something.” Hazel said with a shake of her head and Alex grinned.

“That’s more like it.”

Surprisingly, Little Red did not jump off Hazel’s arms as usual, she remained still but Hazel did not think much of it. With the little cub in her hands, she left her chamber together with Alex.

But as soon as they stepped out, a figure entered Hazel’s eyes.

It was Damien.

Damien felt unusually edgy that morning, so he did not stay long during the council meeting that morning. He decided to rest for a while before attending to other things and the sight he met made his face dark.

If his face had not been covered by the mask, one would have been scared off with how dark his face was.

The instant he saw Alex and Hazel leaving Hazel’s chambers together, he almost wanted to flare up.

What were they doing alone in her chamber? And where are they going staying so close to each other?

Damien did not like it. He did not like it one bit.

No man was allowed inside Hazel’s room or even beside her apart from him.

Damien gritted his teeth, but managed not to say anything and keep his anger in check.

Actually, he was not avoiding Hazel because of the poison she had added to his meal that almost killed him. He was avoiding her because he realized that his feelings for her were beginning to get out of his control.

It was no longer her body he yearned after, he yearned for everything that is related to her. Her soul, her heart, her body, everything that makes up her.

It was a foreign emotion, but he did not like it.

The feeling of losing control for someone like him was never pleasant. So, he decided to keep his distance from her.

He thought he would be successful, he thought they would gradually revert back to being strangers, but Hazel kept finding him. She kept appearing everywhere and he kept seeing her.

And the more he saw her, the more those unfamiliar emotions brewed like a storm. They were just waiting for a day to erupt and it was taking everything in him to keep them in check.

But can a storm be controlled?

Damien himself knew he wouldn’t last long, but he doesn’t believe that a single woman was enough to make someone like him lose control.

Yet, seeing how close she has grown with Alex, that storm threatened to erupt violently.

“Here comes the unsmiling brute.” Alex whispered into Hazel’s ears and she chuckled.

She had always had that thought about Damien in such a way, but it was the first time she would hear someone speak of him like that.

Seeing her smile, Damien pressed his lips together. His steps halted, staring at nothing but her smile. One that was not directed at him, but to another person and a man to be precise.

Something sinister flashed in his eyes, his hand resting on the sides slowly clenched.

The air almost solidified.

Hazel and Alex arrived in front of him and they halted at the same time.

“Good morning…”

“Hazel, wait for me in my chamber.” Damien cut her short and the air froze with tension.

The words were actually simple, but the tone made Hazel’s expression change slightly.

It wasn’t a request, but an order. An order directed towards a slave.

Hazel’s visage wasn't so good at that moment.

The faint warmth in her eyes slowly disappeared. Actually, if he had said it in a different way, she would have really agreed because that was what she was looking for.

But now…

Before Hazel could say anything, Alex spoke up calmly, his tone no longer playful.

“Alpha, I was about to take Hazel somewhere so I have to borrow her for now.”

Silence fell instantly.

Both men stared at each other, their auras clashing.
