Chapter thirty-two

Ethan's POV

After Caroline had finished answering her questions. I led her out of the courtroom. I was to escort her back to her Mistress chamber where I picked her up from.

As we walked my eyes caught sight of some suspicious-looking guys.

They had the same physique as Thomas and the other guy being prosecuted in the courtroom. I realized almost immediately that they must be members of Thomas's gang. They stood apart as if they didn't know each other.

They were talking in code. I understood it because they were using the signs used by soldiers in many of the historical books I have come across.

I knew something was off and I needed to find out before it was too late.

I asked Caroline to go. They were entering a room one after the other. I noticed when one person entered, a sign was given by someone at the far corner of the building every five minutes.

Once the sign is given, a member appears from nowhere and enters the room.

I stood in a spot where I will not get seen observing them secretly.

After what seemed like thirty minutes, the one giving the sign walked into the room. This means they have all gone in.

I carefully walked to the window at the other side of the building and to my delight it was opened.

I gently leaned on the window to eavesdrop on what they were discussing.

I was right, they were members of Thomas's gang. I found out from their conversation that the judge has already been tipped off by Lordson Al but the Solid evidence has put him in a complicated position so they might need a plan B.

Lordson Al has been lying all this while. He is aware of Thomas's gang and was the one who formed the gang and made Thomas the head.

I gathered that Marietta kidnapped Alyssa with the intent of killing her as a way of getting back to Marcus which confirms one thing. The attack on our village was to kill Alyssa.

I felt so angry. I couldn't believe we lost many people including our alpha just because of revenge.

While I listened, I learned that they have already communicated to some packs about their mission and the handsome reward that awaits any pack who stands by their side. Most of the packs that were consulted were packs whose alpha had pledged loyalty to Lordson Al so it was easy to get them to fight for him.

He is a very influential man who is good at the game of politics. He is well-known across the region. It's no surprise that he was able to pull a thing like this up.

Realizing this I knew Alyssa and the other pack who aren't in on this are in danger.

I gathered our pack members immediately and asked the women and children to be exited discreetly. I wanted to alert the others but I couldn't tell Lordson Al's friends apart from his foes.

I needed to be careful not to be the wrong person and know I was aware of the plan else we are all dead.

We gathered the weapons obtainable and while some discreetly took our women and children out, the rest of us readied ourselves for battle. We positioned ourselves in different directions.

I knew we were outnumbered and outmatched so I decided it was best to launch the attack first.

Surprises always work in a fight. I know this from the various books I have read about the battles of the past.

George being one of the alphas was to take Lordson Al since they will be seated at the same table while I take the judge.

All these were planned within a very short time. Even George was informed at the last minute.

When the judge finally passed the judgment, it was not exactly as I had expected but I knew Lordson Al would not let his daughter be put under restriction for the sake of Alyssa which means they were still going to attack.

I wasn't going to take chances. Our only chance of leaving the village alive was by attacking first.

I was still there deciding how to go about it when we heard noise from outside and I knew it was happening. Thomas guys are attacking.

I immediately pounced on the judge and killed him, leaving George to do his part.

The fight broke out and I knew there was no going back. It was either we kill or get killed.

When our guys got to the courtroom and killed the servants. I wanted to take Alyssa with me but she was nowhere to be found.

We had no time to waste. For our plan to work we needed to act as fast as possible.

Together with George and the others, we ran out of the courtroom to meet others.

By the time we ran out of the courtroom, the village was already littered with dead bodies. I was shocked. I never expected anything this brutal.

I thought they were after our pack but there were lifeless bodies of werewolves from different packs.

As we ran towards the outskirts of the village, we were launching and dodging strikes along the way while stumbling over dead bodies.

We stayed together in a defensive format, annihilating any obstacle that came our way. Everyone went crazy and the fight was more fierce than I had expected.

The snarling and growing of men could be heard from a distance as we advanced towards the secret passage where our pack members were being exited.

By the time we got to the location, almost every one of our members had already been exited. The few left were mostly men.

I planned to go back and find Alyssa as soon as everyone was gone.

Suddenly, we heard angry snarls and growls behind us. It was Thomas and his gang charging toward us with full force.

There was no time to think. "The plan remains the same" I yelled and they understood what I meant.

Those who were to take our members out safely stuck to their job while the rest of us readied ourselves to fight off Thomas and his gang.

With a deafening howl, we charged over them. Our eyes blazed with uncontrollable fury.

We were taken by surprise, but we quickly rallied to defend ourselves.

As we clashed, our massive bodies slammed into each other with tremendous force. The air was filled with the sound of snarling and growling.

The fight was brutal and bloody, with no mercy shown on either side. We were thrown back and forth like rag dolls, bones cracking and flesh tearing under the force of the blows.

We outnumbered them but they were huge and strong. Their fighting style also suggested they are specially trained.

The rate at which our pack members were dropping dead by each second was alarming.

To avoid further loss I needed to put an end to the fight. I began to target Thomas, the leader of the gang. I figured if I could take him down the rest of his members were likely to retreat.
