Marcus POV
I couldn't still believe how what started with a few snarls and growls escalated into a full-blown battle. I watched in blight as the werewolves tore into each other, their teeth and claws gleaming in the sunlight.
Some have shapeshifted into their werewolf form while others were still in their human form.
I wasn't still sure how we got here. The actual reason for this fight was still unclear to me.
One terrible thing about attacks like this is that one cannot tell his friends apart from his foes.
You just have to keep an eye out for anyone who tries to attack you.
I held my cutlass firmly in my hand as I make my way to the village courtroom
I need to find my father and others. Then come back to Alyssa and find a way out of this village.
Suddenly, a guy pounced on me and I lost my stamina and fell. I scampered up as fast as I can to avoid getting struck.
He had lost one of his eyes but I recognized him at once. He was the guy whom I tailed to where Alyssa was kidnapped.
His shirt was soaked in blood. He was holding a sword. He looked fierce and dangerous. He swung the sword randomly at me but I was swift. He is obviously not too good with swords. He looked angry.
He seemed intentional about killing me. I wasn't just a random pick. He has probably been looking for me.
I kept swerving and docking his strikes without striking back. I made him believe he was in control and kept this going until he was exhausted.
When I was sure he was exhausted I maneuvered and picked up my cutlass. By now he is already too exhausted to be able to dodge my strikes fast enough.
Two clean strikes on his shoulder and he slumped.
I picked up his sword and made my way through to the courtroom. Stumbling over piles of dead bodies periodically.
The courtroom was full of dead bodies. My heart sank when I saw the lifeless body of Alpha Rahl. He was the alpha of the Northwest pack. I looked around searching for my father. I was so afraid of finding his body among these people.
I was in the middle of searching when my eye caught sight of it. My father's green cloak. The one he wore today.
The man wearing it had already transformed but he had the color of our pack's fur.
For a moment I felt like time had stopped moving. My father, dead? It's like I was dreaming. My leg were heavy but I managed to drag them along.
I bent over him holding his green cloak. I rubbed my hand over the fabric to be sure it was my father's and it was his. I felt like bursting into tears but the tears wouldn't come.
I was afraid of turning him around. I could not bring myself to look at his lifeless body in the face.
I finally managed to summon some courage. I turned his body around so that his face was facing up. To my greatest relief, it wasn't my 'father.
The man had already taken his werewolf form but I could tell this is not my father. I heaved a deep sigh of relief.
I suddenly felt energized again and I continued with my search
When I was sure he wasn't in the courtroom. I made my way toward the chamber that was allocated to alphas. He wasn't there either.
The fight was still fierce even though it had been going on for hours and more bodies were dropping dead in minutes.
News of the attack has reached the neighboring packs and members have come to rescue their families.
I checked from room to room, but my father was nowhere to be found. He might have left the village already. I hoped so even though I know that was unlikely.
He will never abandon his pack members at a time like this no matter what anybody says.
He will insist on staying back until all his family and friends are safe.
He is a great fighter though but this was a sudden clash. Not the regular type of battle where a man must have prepared his body and soul for what's coming.
I went to the room that was given to me to check if I could find my friends or anyone who mattered.
I searched the rooms one after another but there was no one. Only lifeless bodies and scattered stuff.
I was about to leave that section when I heard a familiar voice call my name. I recognized it immediately to be Tylers.
I turned around to find Tyler lying on the bare floor in a pool of blood. I ran towards him and held his hands
"Tyler '' I trembled. He was cold and his eyes were pale. He was stabbed in the chest and his face was covered with cuts from claws.
"What's this," he asked, his voice a little above whisper.
"I don't know. I am yet to understand the reason for these killings" My voice was sober.
It's not safe here" I said, suppressing my tears.
"Common, let's get you out of here" I tried to help him up but he pushed me away letting out a painful cry. That was when I noticed it.
There was a small knife buried in his stomach.
"No!" I growled silently when I saw it.
I was in the room, Nicole and Tyler had gone out. Then I heard a knock on the door. It was those guys who attacked us the day we went hunting.
Before I could think, they dragged me by my collar out of the room and punched me in the face. Before I knew what was happening our guys were already dropping dead. It was an ambush.
They were butchering and stabbing both men and women alike.
I pounced on one of their guys and with the knife I retrieved from him I stabbed him in the chest. He was out in seconds.
This stirred them up so about five of them pounced on me." He stopped to cough. He was coughing blood.
To cut the long story short, they stabbed me in the chest as a payback for what I did to their man and buried the knife in my stomach for stressing them." He was finding it difficult to breathe.
"I still need to get you to safety," I said.
"I won't make it. Safe yourself Marcus " He said pushing my hand away but there was no way I was going to leave him there.
If I can get him out of the village. I might be able to get a physician to help him before it is too late.
I tried to convince him to let me carry him but he wouldn't cooperate.
Then he started coughing again. At first, blood was coming out of his mouth then he started bleeding through his nose. I became apprehensive.
I needed to do something to stop the bleeding but I had no idea what to do. I ran towards a nearby well to get him some water but by the time I got back
He had already stopped breathing. I touched him, he was ice cold. His eyes closed as though he was sleeping.
"Ty… Tyler" I stammered my voice trembling.
I stood there transfixed. The whole thing feels like a bad dream and I wished I could just wake up and realize I have been dreaming. I dragged him to a corner and laid him down properly.
"I will be back to retrieve your body, my friend," I said with a heavy heart.
Then I heard screams followed by growls from a nearby place.
Looking up, I realized the village was engulfed in flame. They were burning the buildings.
"Alyssa! '' I exclaimed, realizing she might be in danger. I dashed towards the building where I had asked her to hide. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me but I was on high alert. Ready to dodge any strike
The smoke was thick and suffocating, making it hard to see or breathe. The sound of the fire was deafening, a constant roar as it consumed everything in its path.
I could smell the burning wood and flesh, a sickly sweet odor that made my stomach churn.
I knew that I had to get to Alyssa soon because if the building she was hiding in is not on fire yet then it will soon be
I wanted to follow faster routes but every direction seemed blocked by fire or angry werewolves looking for who to devour.
