Alyssa's POV
It took another five minutes for the judge to get everyone to keep quiet.
We all went back to our seats waiting eagerly for the judge to pass his judgment.
I was in my seat thinking about the nightmare I had last night. It's one of those terrible nightmares I used to have before I went to see the seer.
"The nightmares are coming back," I said after I woke. This one troubled me a lot and I can't just get my mind off it.
I found myself in a pool of blood. I raised my hands and blood was dripping but the blood wasn't mine.
Then from a distance, I heard a male voice say "You brought this upon us" The voice was angry but I couldn't see anyone when I looked up.
"You are a curse," another angry voice said.
"Enemies will come from within and without," a voice said but there was something about this particular voice. It was both familiar and calm. The same voice said, "Alyssa! You must be strong". That was when I woke up.
I couldn't shake this dream off. I was going to tell Ethan about it as soon as the hearing was over.
Meanwhile, I could feel the tension in the room as we await the return of the judge back to his seat. I could see the anger building up in Lordson Al.
After some minutes, the long-awaited time finally came and the judge cleared his throat.
"We have all heard from both parties. The evidence presented" he cleared his throat. "The evidence presented has helped towards the progress of this case.
"However, it is not enough to prove Marietta guilty as charged. Therefore, I am adjourning this case to further notice pending further investigation. During this period, Marietta Lordson is to be kept under house arrest." I couldn't believe my ears. The evidence was solid what more evidence does the judge need?
I wasn't too surprised though. Marietta is the daughter of a very influential alpha while I am the daughter of two dead parents and an outcast to my pack members. Society has never really been fair to people like us.
Shock and disappointment were evident on Marcus's face. As for Ethan he was boiling in anger. Lordson Al who was furious a while ago now looks happy. He smirked at no one in particular.
I turned around to look at Marietta and just as I had expected she was smiling. She walked up to me and gave me a wicked smile. Mata was with her.
" Have you ever seen a tortoise overpowering an elephant?" she asked, looking at Mata.
"Only in children's folktales." She replied and they both laughed.
"This is just the beginning." She said turning to face me. "Not even him" she was looking at Marcus "can help you". With that, she walked out of the courtroom.
She looked so happy for somebody who was to be kept under house arrest. It's as if she has been declared innocent and free of all charges which explains a lot.
The house arrest was just a decoy. And the adjournment is just to allow the tension to die down. I already know the outcome of the next seating.
They will come up with some excuses and use them to free her of all the allegations leveled against her. Murmurs and whispers of people in the courtroom filled the room. The hearing had come to an end and people were dispersing in twos and threes.
I sat there dejected. Not happy that Marietta will get away with what she did to Tommy and me. Nobody was even talking about Tommy.
Suddenly, we heard loud snowling and growling from outside the courtroom and we all turned around to see what was happening. Some people mostly women where running into the courtroom shouting "Help"
Ethan ran towards the judge and stabbed him with a Knife before the guards were able to do anything he jumped off the table like a wild cat.
The judge fell on the ground and in a matter of seconds, he was dead. Blood oozing out of his chest. I screamed and everybody scampered for safety. The guards went after Ethan. Their swords unsheathed and ready to strike.
Members of Ethan's pack rushed into the courtroom. Their eyes sparkling with fire. They growled angrily as they made their way into the courtroom.
They attacked the guards who were chasing Ethan, killing all four of them. I froze as the bodies dropped dead one after the other. There was blood everywhere.
The room was thrown into pandemonium. Screams of men, women and children were heard everywhere within and outside the courtroom. We were all looking for safety.
I was still hiding on the ground trying to process what was happening when I felt someone pull me towards him. Startled, I screamed and he covered my mouth with one of his hands.
"It's okay Alyssa, it's me" it was Marcus. He held my hand tight and asked me to follow him.
We ran outside the courtroom. Marcus led the way with a cutlass in his hand. He got it from one of the men who tried to attack him.
When we got out of the courtroom my chest jumped out though my mouth. What I saw horrified me to my bone marrow. There were piles of dead bodies both men and women, young and old. Most have turned back to their werewolf state which means they have been dead for a while while others were in the process of transforming. I let out a horrible cry. My heart couldn't bear the terror. We ran through the dead bodies dodging strikes in the process.
The sound of snarling and growling filled the air as the various packs clashed. It was a fierce fight. Claws and teeth flashed in the sunlight, and blood was spilled on the snow-covered ground.
We fought with all our might, using our werewolf abilities to dodge and attack. It was a chaotic scene, with werewolves from different packs laying lifeless in different colors and sizes. Others leaping and tearing at each other.
The fight went on for hours. The air thick with smoke and the stench of death. As we ran around the village looking for safety, we saw children crying over the body of their dead mother and vice versa. It was disheartening.
Marcus took me to an isolated building, in the heart of the village. He checked every nook and cranny of the building to be sure it was safe before he asked me to get in.
I was scared of staying alone but he insisted I stay there until he returned. He wanted to go back and look for his father and friends. I hid myself under the bed inside one of the rooms.
I could hear snarls and growls from a distance. I have never seen a thing like this my entire life. The attack on Ethan's pack was child's play compared to this one. I was worried about Ethan. I just hope he is still alive.
I remembered the dream I had last night and I needed not to be told that dream was a warning about what is happening.
Now I can see that what the seer foresaw is coming to pass. If the seer is right then this is probably just the beginning.
