Chapter fifteen

Marietta's POV

The time we agreed to meet with the guys I sent to bring me Marcus was approaching.

I couldn't wait to set my eyes on him. I imagined how shocked he would be to see me and even practiced how I was going to give him a wicked smirk.

The time came. Everywhere was dark. I waited until everyone had slept off.

I was dressed in my usual black attire, with leather pants and a tight-fitting top. My long hair was tied in a messy bun. I covered myself with a hood so that no one could recognize me.

I tiptoed out of my room making sure not to make the faintest sound. As soon as I was outside, I crawled until I got to the edge of the forest. I walked into the forest. Carefully landing on the leaves and grasses so that they don't make any rustling sound.

I kept walking cautiously until I had traveled deep into the forest.

When I was sure I was far away from my pack and it was less likely for me to bump into anyone from my pack. I quickened my pace.

I stormed through the dense woods, walking as fast as I could and imagining the brutal things I will do to Marcus when we finally meet.

The thought of that excites me and I almost laughed out loud.

I finally reached the clearing where we were supposed to meet with the boys but I saw no one.

They must be close by. They're probably hiding in the woods to avoid being seen since the moon was clear.

I walked to the center of the clearing and gave a sign for them to start coming just in case they were inside the woods hiding.

As soon as I gave the sign. I saw two figures approaching. The reflection from the moon made it easy for me to recognize them. It saw Thomas and one of his boys.

Thomas is a hybrid werewolf. His kind is gifted with extra strength and agility.

His pack was called the Mighty Pack because of its huge figure and strength.

My father found Thomas decades ago when he went to help a friendly pack fight against another pack.

They were in the middle of a fight when he caught sight of Thomas crying beside a well. He looked so scared and helpless. My father picked him up and hid him inside a hole until the fight was over.

He intended to find his pack and return him but he learned that the pack was destroyed by the same pack they had fought against.

It was an ambush and a very brutal one.

Thomas's townlet was set ablaze. Many of Thomas's pack members were burnt to ashes, and some who managed to escape the building were slaughtered. Only very few of them survived the attack.

Most of them were females and children so they couldn't fight back. They were forced to flee their land for safety and that was the end of The Mighty Pack.

My father even after what he heard went back to Thomas Townlet to see if he could find someone who survived the attack but there was no one left so he had to take him in.

My father brought Thomas home and made him a member of our pack. He trained him and treated him like his own.

Thomas grew up to be huge and strong. During wrestling games, he always won.

Most of the time he represented our pack in inter-region wrestling competitions and always came back victorious.

He became the champion of our pack and soon the story of his strength and might spread across the region.

One day, he came home with some men. They were huge like him.

He told my father that they were a member of his displaced pack. He said they would like to serve my father if he will take them in.

He agreed to take them in. He trained them and when they were here ready to serve he formed a secret group and named them. The Ghosted Pack. Making Thomas their head.

They were well-trained and strong so he used them to carry out top-secret missions, tough missions, or missions that he couldn't afford to mess up.

They had never failed him and this increased my father's faith in them.

"How did it go" I asked as soon as they approached me.

My heart sank when they both bowed their heads in shame. What does this mean?

"How did it go?" I asked again.

"We had him, " Thomas said, his voice cracking. Everything went as planned. We were able to ambush them. We beat him until he was almost unconscious, I can't still explain how it happened.

It was a narrow escape. We are still in aw.. "

"Shut up you fool" I interrupted. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My plan failed? This can't be. I trusted them to do the job. I had complete faith in them and they failed me.

I hate failure. I hate not getting what I want. My head ached out of anger. I was running mad.

I let out a furious growl, my eyes glowing with a fiery intensity. "You're useless!" I shouted, my words echoing through the forest.

"I trusted you to do this simple task, and you couldn't even bring me one measly guy." All eight of you couldn't bring me just one person?"

I raised my claws and slashed at a nearby tree, the bark splitting under the force of my attack.

"Noooo!" I growled not caring that this was a secret meeting.

"Calm down Marietta". Thomas said worried I may injure myself.

He held me tight trying to stop me from going out of control.

For the next few minutes, I was insane with anger trying to free myself from Thomas's grip. Alas, I got exhausted and gave up.

Thomas sat me down and that was when I saw his face. It was covered in cuts and bruise. The cut was deep.

"Did he do that?" I asked, pointing at his face. He nodded firmly.

I knew Marcus to be a strong person, feared among his pack but he was no match for Thomas and his men, or at least so I thought. I must have underrated him.

I planned to kidnap him, torture him for some days to show him I can not be messed with, and then kill him without anybody knowing.

Now that things hadn't gone as planned, it is a big setback. Marcus and his friends must have seen Thomas and his men. Maybe even the sign.

By now his enraged father must have started his investigation to uncover those behind his son's assault.

" He didn't escape because of this" Thomas said pointing to his face. " Before we could catch them, they entered a village. For fear of exposing our identity, we had to go back. But we gave him a beating of his life. It would not be surprising if he doesn't make it out of his predicament alive." He explained trying hard to impress me.

"No," I interrupted. "Anything but death. I want him to suffer by my hands before he dies. If I can't have him then no one will"

I said.

"You must go into hiding for now until things cool off". I advised.

"I understand," He said and with that, we parted ways.
