Chapter fourteen

Marcus POV

When we got to the village, the alpha was informed immediately, and we were brought before him. He recognized me as soon as we approached him.

"Marcus! He exclaimed. "What happened?" I was too weak to respond to his question.

"We were attacked by an unidentified pack on our way back from a hunting spree". That was Nicole.

The alpha barked an order for the healer to be summoned.

My body was getting heavier with each minute. I felt the urge to lie down but I had no strength left in me to talk.

The alpha asked one of his servants to direct us to a room where we were to wait for the healer. With the help of his servants, we walked towards a room with great difficulty.

For every step, I took toward the room my breath got heavier making it more and more difficult for me to walk. In between my heavy breath and struggle to walk I slumped and that was all I could remember.

I found myself on a mountain hunting alone. I was looking for a dangerous animal to hunt down. I transformed into my wolf form. It was dark and everywhere was wet due to the heavy downpour

While I was trying to locate my prey, I heard the howling of wolves from a distance. I walked in that direction. The howling became louder as I closed in.

Finally, there they were. There were a lot of wolves. I could tell not all of them belong to the same pack but they were all bowing to a werewolf sitting on a throne before them.

I couldn't see her face but I could tell she was a woman. I have never come across a Luna before. I have only heard stories of them yet this one here is not just a Luna but a very powerful one. Something prompted me to go closer and I did.

As I approached her she started to look familiar. I went closer to get a better view.

I cleared my throat to get her attention but the howling sound was too loud.

Then she stood up. Slowly she descended from her throne and turned around to look at me.

It was Alyssa. I stood there surprised to see her there and in that state. Her face was emotionless but she was beautiful as ever.

I wanted to say something but I couldn't.

Then a beam of light flashed in my eyes.

I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a thatched roof with plenty of holes which allowed light rays to pass through them. My mind was blank.

It took me a few seconds to take in my environment.

I was lying on a makeshift bed inside a dimly lit room.

The walls were made of mud and straw. I felt groggy and disoriented.

Memories of what happened rushed back to me and I felt a surge of anger rush through me. I wanted to know who they were and how to locate them.

As my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw my father sitting beside me. He looked worried sick. The only time I ever saw him like that was when my mother died. He always told me he must have done something great in his past life for the moon goddess to favor him with such a great mate as my mother.

"Father" I called out, my voice a little above a whisper.

"Marcus! You are awake. " He said, rising to his feet with a relieved expression on his face. Everyone in the room rose to their feet.

"Marcus", he continued, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I'm glad you're awake. You had us all worried."

I tried to sit up, but my body was sore and weak. My father helped me into a sitting position, and I looked around the room to see several other members of my pack, including our pack healer, who was examining my wounds.

"How bad is it?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

"You were badly injured in the attack," the healer replied, her tone serious. "You had several cuts and broken bones. But we were able to stabilize you thanks to the timely intervention of this man here". He pointed at a man who looked like he was in his mid-fifties and he bowed slightly with a smile. He must be the healer the alpha summoned when we got here.

"Your wounds will heal soon," he said.

I nodded, feeling grateful for the skill and knowledge of these two healers. As I looked around the room, I could sense the relief and joy among my pack members at my recovery. They had been worried about me, and it was clear that my survival had lifted their spirits.

I suddenly remembered my friends. Where are Nicole, Steve, and Tyler" I asked, looking at no one in particular.

My father replied. "They were escorted back home yesterday. You would have been taken home too but the healers said you needed to rest to avoid complications.

That was when I realized I must have spent days here.

"How long have I been here? " I asked.

"Six days". " Six days? " I exclaimed.

All these while I thought I was out for a few hours. I shook my head realizing how serious my condition must have been and how I must have gotten my father worried.

The alpha of our host village came into the room and they greeted my father in a way that shows they have known each other for a long.

"I see our boy is getting better," He said as he turned to look at me.

Oh yes, he is, "said my father.

My father told me they have been friends since childhood. Although I don't know him, he seems to know me quite well.

He told me how he has been of immense help to me while I was unconscious.

After I slumped and collapsed. Our host alpha ordered my father to be informed immediately.

Upon hearing about my condition my father thought it wise to come along with our pack's healer since she has been my healer right from birth.

My friends were not as badly injured as I was so their wounds healed in no time. On the third day, they were already back on their feet while I was still unconscious.

They narrated everything about the attack to him.

"Do you remember seeing anything that could give us a clue? My father asked.

But there was no clue. Except for the strange tattoo which my friends have already mentioned to him.

Nobody seemed to have ever come across them.

"I will find them," he said coldly anger evident on his face.

"Thank you," I said, my voice filled with emotion. "Thank you all for taking care of me."

My father smiled at me, his eyes reflecting his pride and love.

"You're our son, Marcus," he said. "We will always take care of you, no matter what. Now get some rest. "

With my father's help, I laid down to get some rest. That was when I remembered the dream I had earlier.

My Alyssa I said. I felt a cold sensation in my heart. These days, thinking about her brings me peace.

The dream didn't mean anything to me. I attributed it to the fact that I was constantly thinking about her.

I wish she could be here with me right now, it would have helped my wound to heal faster.

I made up my mind to go and look for her as soon as I was strong enough to do so.

This time, I will do everything to win back her love and trust. I know I hurt her truly and I was willing to pay the price for what I did.
