Chapter 46: back home
Cynthia's heart pounded like a drum as she struggled to break free. Desperation surged through her veins. Then-without hesitation-she sank her teeth into Tommy's hand. He howled in pain, instantly letting go, and Cynthia took the chance to scramble away into the night.
A Few Minutes Earlier...
The party was in full swing, filled with the scent of exotic flowers and the sound of soft jazz floating through the garden air. Lanterns lit the path where Monalisa gently tugged at Jayden's sleeve, her eyes glinting with curiosity.
"Let's take a walk," she whispered with a mischievous smile.
Jayden hesitated briefly, then nodded. "Alright. Just a quick one."
They strolled beyond the golden lights and into the quiet shadows of the resort. Then, Monalisa spotted something-a flicker of movement. A woman. Struggling.
"Jayden, someone's in trouble," she gasped.
Jayden narrowed his eyes. "It's probably just-"
"No! We have to help her!" she said urgently, pulling him forward.
Reluctantly, Jayden followed. As they got closer, the scene became clearer-Tommy, gripping a woman harshly. Without thinking, Jayden stepped forward.
"Let her go!" he thundered.
Tommy turned, startled, just as Cynthia's eyes widened at the familiar voice .Recognizing him, Cynthia froze. Panic shot through her. He can't see me. I need to run-now.
Without hesitation, she bit Tommy's hand but he refused to let go, though yelping in pain.
Tommy clenched his palm, eyes flaring red, nostrils flared.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Jayden? Aren't you with your woman? he said holding onto Cynthia's arm tightly while she hid away her face.
!" Panic twisted her gut. "Jayden can't see me-not like this"
She bit Tommy hard this time, dashed away the moment his grip faltered, and vanished into the shadows.
Tommy hissed, cradling his bitten hand, his rage boiling.
"What the fuck, Jayden? Isn't your woman enough for you? Why interfere?"
Tommy clenched his palm, his eyes red and nostrils flared.
Jayden's eyes burned. "I'm disgusted with you. What, hunting another woman now? Get lost before I lose it."
"Go ahead, punk. Lose it."
"You're a nuisance. Maybe we should call the resort security and have you kicked out," Monalisa snapped.
Tommy scoffed. "Go ahead. I'm not scared of either of you. And that bitch... I'll deal with her soon." He stormed off.
Jayden exhaled sharply.
"Thanks for helping her," Monalisa said.
"She ran," Jayden muttered.
"She was scared," Monalisa replied softly. "But she's grateful. I know she is."
"you think she is?
"I know she is" Monalisa smiled brightly at him.
"Let's head back to our room "
"The party?
"Monalisa... I'm exhausted and I need to rest. You can stay back if you wish but I'm going back inside to get some rest"
"Ugh! Such a killjoy. Fine, I'm coming with you".
Monalisa woke up the next morning to find Jayden sipping a cup of coffee, while going through his phone. She sat up and stared at him for a few seconds before getting out of the bed.
"Are you okay? Up so early" Monalisa said.
"Uh yes. We'll be returning home tomorrow morning"
"Say what now?
"Yes. Some important investors will be flying in this weekend. We need to go back. I need to prepare for the meeting. It's so unusual but I can't do anything but make sure I get them to invest in this project"
"I wish we could stay longer. Crete is such a nice place and we haven't explored it yet"
"We'll explore it but before that...pack up our things."
"Why?
"I know we'll be so exhausted from the exploration. It's best we pack up our things "
Then a knock came at the door.
"Get the door Monalisa "
"Yeah I will"
Monalisa answered the door. Athena was standing right outside the door.
"Sir Jayden requested for me. May I come in ma'am? Athena asked .
"Yeah sure. This way please. Jayden...Athena is here"
"Yes. I had called for her"
"Good morning sir Jayden"
"I'll be returning home tomorrow "
"Any problem sir? Athena asked
"No. But I've got some important investors to catch."
"Right sir "
"I have a proposal for you"
"Proposal? What proposal sir?
"I want to officially hire you as my P.A and I want you to get your things ready and come work for me in my company. I'm officially making you my P.A"
"Really sir? I'm so happy and excited and...I don't know. Thank you so much sir. I won't disappoint sir"
"I know. I already transferred some money to your account. Payment for your services while I was in Greece and your salary for this month as My official P.A"
"Thank you so much sir"
"Thank her. Monalisa had asked me to hire you. She said you are efficient"
"Thank you ma'am"
"It's nothing. I'm glad you accepted the offer"
"I appreciate it ma'am. When do I resume sir?
"Whenever you are done putting everything in place here in Greece. Take your flight down to meet me at Bruno's business empire "
"Yes sir. About you leaving tomorrow...do you need my help?
"Yes. Get the car we'll be using ready. Monalisa and I want to visit cool places and you're coming along"
"Ye sir. I'll get that ready. I'll go ahead then" Athena turned and left jumping up in happiness.
"It was your idea to hire her. All I did was to support it. Why make it as though it was my idea? Monalisa asked.
"Go take your bath. We leave in the next thirty minutes "
"But we haven't had breakfast yet"
"We'll have breakfast. But you've got thirty minutes to get ready "
"Ugh!!! Okay okay. I'm going "
Jayden and Monalisa spent the last day having fun. They checked out cool places, went on a swim, took a walk on the beach and returned back to their room.
Monalisa and Jayden packed up, waiting for the morning.
The next morning, Athena arrived at their room and helped them take their luggage to the car.
Jayden and Monalisa got ready and left for the car.
They drove down to the airport and bid Athena good bye, hoping to see her soon.
They got on Jayden's private jet, next minute, they were on air, flying back home.
Monalisa exhaled softly and leaned back. Jayden touched her hand and kissed her hand.
"We're finally going home" Jayden said.
"Why do I feel so tensed. Like I'm forgetting something"
"You are not. I think you've gotten so much attached to Greece"
"Hey" Monalisa giggled. "Maybe, maybe not".
"And I feel good returning home. For a moment back there...I felt we were been watched by someone"
"What? What are you saying? Who was watching us?
"Once I confirm my hunch, then I'll let you know. Let's just get back home first. I'm so gonna deal with that person "
Jayden and Monalisa had a safe flight back home.
Their ride was waiting for them outside.
His chauffeur and his security guard immediately met up with them and took their luggage to the car.
Next minute they were on road.
Monalisa decided to call up Tricia to inform her but was stopped by Jayden.
"No one is allowed to know that we're back " Jayden said taking her phone from her.
"Why?
"Trust me. Until I resolve whatever I'm working on... you can't inform anyone "
"Yet you informed your chauffeur and bodyguard "
"Don't start with me"
"Jayden. I just want to call Tricia. That's all"
"You can call her later. Let's get home first. I'll hold onto your phone "
"What? Ugh!!! So annoying " Monalisa frowned.
They arrived at Jayden's mansion. His chauffeur unloaded their luggage from the car and took them inside.
"Welcome home, officially. From now till.... eternity... this is your house and your home, Monalisa "
