Chapter 47: Cynthia's secret revealed
The next morning Jayden got ready for office and left.
Jayden arrived at the company and went straight to his office.
Two staff rushed over to welcome him. Jayden paused and turned to them.
"Send for Cynthia. I need her now" Jayden ordered them.
"Sir... Cynthia isn't here with you? Asked the female staff.
Jayden turned to her. "What do you mean by that? And how dare you question me? Where is Cynthia? Jayden asked.
"She isn't in the office. In fact, she has reported to work since the day you last reported to work"
"What are you blabbing about?
"Yes sir. The last day she showed up, she said she won't be coming in for work. When I asked, she said she was going to Greece with you for your honeymoon. I was pretty surprised but she said you had asked her to come along as she would run a few errands for you and assist you over there and make your stay smooth sir"
"Cynthia is in Greece! Wow! Isn't she cunning? You may leave"
"Yes sir"
Jayden continued to his office.
He got in and had his seat.
"What a fucking snake that bitch is. I knew it. Something was definitely off. I felt we were being watched. Hold up...in Athens, the wife that got Gerald released from police custody....fuck it! He punched his palm. "It's that bitch Cynthia. But why did she follow us down to Greece? I mean... Monalisa wasn't hurt but something is definitely off. The girl in Crete from that night...is definitely Cynthia. What's her relationship with Gerald and Tommy? Why was Tommy hurting her and why did she help Gerald out? Something isn't right. I'm glad my hunch was correct. But then... it's over for her. I'm not going to keep that snake close to me, never"
The female staff pulled out her phone and dialed Cynthia's number. Luckily, she was able to reach her.
"What is it! How dare you call me at such odd hours!!! Cynthia screamed at her.
"And where the hell are you bitch! The staff screamed back.
"In Greece. Why!
"With who and doing what?
"With Sir Jayden. Why?
The female staff scoffed. "You fool. No. You liar!! It's either you're lying to be in Greece or you're in Greece but lying to be with sir Jayden because sir Jayden just arrived at the company few minutes ago requesting for you"
"What?
"Yes."
"And what did you tell him?
"Everything you told me"
"You fool! You're such a big fool. How dare reveal everything to him!
"And don't you dare raise your fucking voice at me. Hey! You're done for. You lied to be helping him in Greece when you are not with him. You should see the shock on his face when he learnt you went to Greece too. Oh my goodness, you're so done for "
"Shut the fuck up!!
"I'm ending the call"
"Don't you dare!!!
The female staff hung up on Cynthia and returned back to work.
"Fuck. I'm in a deep mess. Damn it. I get it now. Why I haven't seen Jayden and Athena around. So Jayden has gone back. Could it be that he caught on and decided to go back to confirm?
Cynthia hit her hand on the bed and kicked off the pillow. "Then, I definitely need to catch a flight back home to rid myself of this mess"
Jayden returned back home to Monalisa who was feeling bored and all alone.
Jayden walked in and fell back on his couch. He took of his shoes and leaned back, his eyes searched for Monalisa.
Monalisa walked in having a nice glass of juice and a plate containing cookies.
Her body moved lovingly in her green satin gown. She looked beautiful with her hair packed in a messy bun.
"You're back already, runaway hubby? Monalisa teased him.
"I'm not a runaway hubby. I had something important to do"
"Right. That's why you didn't seem it fit to inform me about it. Not even a kiss. Great"
"I'm sorry. Just wanted to confirm something and I did"
"Want some?
"No thank you. I'll rather take a shower and come down for a nice meal"
"So, what was it that you needed to confirm?
"You can have your phone back and you can go ahead and call your bestie"
"You are so mean. You left for the office with my phone?
"No. I left in the cabinet. I called but you didn't pick up. I'll go take a shower " Jayden said getting up.
"Share with me, what is it that took my man so early to work?
"Cynthia"
"Cy... Cynthia? I don't get it?
"She's a snitch and a witch"
"What now?
"Cynthia has been absent from the company. Turned out she followed us to Greece and lied that I had requested to come with us. She was watching and monitoring us all these while"
Monalisa dropped the cookie in her hand and stood up immediately.
"She what!! She...she followed us to Greece? Why? What did she want to gain from that?
"I do not know. Guess what?
"What?
"She was the one who got Gerald released from the police custody "
Monalisa grasped. "What?
"Yup. She followed us from Athens to Crete. She's the lady Tommy had a confrontation with that night"
"The lady we rescued?
"Yup"
"What's her problem?
"I don't know but I'm glad she didn't hurt. I'll go take a bath"
"And I'll fix us some nice meal, right after I grab my phone from the room"
"Sure"
"Thank you" Monalisa smiled and hurried to his room.
She pulled out the drawer and grabbed her phone.
She immediately dialed Tricia's number and went downstairs.
"Girl!" Monalisa screamed.
"Yes girl".
"Guess what?
"What girl. Just tell me about it!.
"Girl! I'm back!!
"What the fuck! When did you come in? And so soon?
"Yes, so soon. We flew in yesterday girl"
"Wow! That's quite surprising but a lovely surprise Bess"
"Yes Bess. Bess, I'll be at your place tomorrow to get my things.".
"My place? It's our place "
"Fine"
"And how are you and Jayden?
"Oh yes, Jayden is fine. Yup. When I come over... we'll talk about a lot of things. I need to fix something for Jayden"
"Tell me, how does Jayden's house look like?
"His place is so lovely and nice. Of course. Oh yes, do not forget to prepare my favourite meal. Catch you tomorrow. Bye!
"Bye Bess. I'll be expecting you tomorrow"
"Okay babe. Bye" Monalisa hung up and placed the phone on the counter. She took a deep breath and exhaled softly. "It's my first time cooking for Jayden, that too as his wife. I know I'm a great cook but I need not mess up. Let's do this"
Minutes later, Jayden joined Monalisa in the kitchen.
"Smells nice. Athena will be flying in tomorrow. I just got off the call with my maid to come tomorrow morning and fix the guest room. Athena will be staying there until I get her place ready. She'll leave Monday morning"
"Okay. Why is she coming in early?
"I had asked her to come. I have a feeling Cynthia will be coming in tomorrow. I will be firing Cynthia and I need Athena to be there to immediately replace her"
"You hired Athena as your secretary?
"Do you wish to be my secretary? Jayden hugged her from behind.
"No. I've got a job. Sit, I'll serve dinner"
"Jealous already?
"What for?
"Athena?
Monalisa scoffed. "You're out of your mind"
"You don't have to be. She isn't a match for you "
"I know now sit and shut it. Annoying guy"
"Yes ma'am. Smells great"
"Shush. Good." Monalisa sighed softly. "Athena will be coming in tomorrow. Why do I low-key feel jealous? Am I jealous? Nah, I can't be. Am I? Really?
