Chapter 51 Chapter 51

Chapter 51 Chapter 51
Drey rushed out of the pack house in a hurry and had just taken a few steps when he came face to face with Jeremy, who had blood dripping down his head.

"Jeremy... what... what happened...?"

"Alpha..."

Jeremy cried as he ran towards the younger man and threw himself at him.

"Jeremy?"

"I've been looking everywhere for you." Jeremy cried even harder. "I thought we got separated again."

"Shh, I'm right here," Drey consoled as he ran his hands up and down Jeremy's back.

"Doctor Jenny," Jeremy suddenly said, making Drey's eyes widen in shock. "What happened to her?"
"You..." Drey held him by the shoulders. "You remember?"

Jeremy nodded and went back in for a hug.

"I'm sorry for not trusting you. Jenny... she brainwashed me into thinking there was a cure for being an omega. I didn't know. And an alpha took me away, and when I tried to escape, I fell into the sea because Chris..." Jeremy choked. "Chris was the one who had me kidnapped."

Jeremy gasped as he pulled back.

"Where's Chris? That bastard. I really have to hit him. No, I have to castrate him for what he did to me."

"I can't find him anywhere," Drey said as he patted Jeremy's hair affectionately. "But he can be dealt with later. You don't worry your little head."

He pecked Jeremy's cheek.

"You should get your head bandaged first. Where's Jaden?"

"Receiving treatment."

"Treatment...?"

"Yeah, he got a cut on his leg but nothing serious. I came out to look for you and help move some bodies" Jeremy sighed "have you seen Oliver?" Jeremy asked suddenly, as if he had just remembered, making Drey sigh as he scratched the back of his neck.

"About that..."

The next day, before the setting of the sun, Caroline led the other wolves as they dug graves and buried their fallen comrades.

Jeremy's heart clenched at the sight of those familiar faces he once knew, now lying peacefully in their wooden coffins, still and ready to be forgotten beneath the earth.

"For all our fallen brothers and sisters, your efforts yesterday will never be forgotten, nor will they be in vain. So sleep in peace, because your home—the home we were deprived of—is going to stand again."

With that, sand was thrown over the coffins as prayers to the Moon Goddess were made.

Jeremy stood in all black, his head wrapped with a bandage that made him look like he was wearing a white bandana.

Beside him, Drey stood with Jaden tucked in one arm while the other rested over Jeremy's shoulders.
At the end of the ceremony, they walked back to their room gloomily.

"Tonight Caroline intends to make a statement to the world. Everything that happened should serve as a deterrent to other packs not to mess with the pack."

Jeremy said nothing to that as he looked out through the window at the silent village.

People walked around like zombies, tired and sad.

The war had taken more than they had bargained for.

"What if that only triggers other packs more, Drey? Rendro can't take another blow... it'll fall."

Drey smiled at Jaden and kissed his cheek, earning a giggle. The baby was lively, as if he hadn't lived through a horrifying day just yesterday.

Even his leg was bandaged, but he didn't seem to care.

The alpha sighed and walked up to his mate.

"The packs that attacked yesterday acted on their own accord, and the world leaders never go back on their words."

Jeremy looked up at him, and the alpha gave him a small smile.

"Rendro Pack is going to be safe."

The omega returned his smile.

"Who would've thought you'd grow up in just the span of two years to be so mature?"

Drey huffed, hearing Jaden laugh at the gesture.

"I've always been mature. You've always been the immature one, running into danger without a care in the world."

Drey suddenly gasped as he pulled Jaden up to eye level.

"Jaden, you didn't take after him, did you? You did exactly what he does yesterday."

"...In his defense, he couldn't smell me there and got scared because the noises were loud and scary."

Jeremy shrugged as he patted Jaden's head.

"He only followed my scent. But don't scare me that way again, okay baby?"

Jaden smiled and relaxed further into Drey's arm, loving his warmth and scent.

Jeremy looked up at his alpha to see him staring at him with awe making pink spread across his cheeks and he cleared his throat.

"Any news about Chris?"

Drey sighed and shook his head.

"Nothing."

"I can't believe he just disappeared like that... or is it—"
Jeremy looked at him suspiciously, making him scoff.

"You think I killed him or something?"

Jeremy sighed as he moved to the bed and sat down.

"Where could he be then? I'm a bit worried, but mostly mad."

"Pray he never comes back," Drey mumbled.

Jeremy didn't hear him.

"What about Oliver?"

"He's still moping around."

"I don't think I can face Oliver yet. Now that I've gotten my memories back, I feel like I owe him an apology for the way I treated him in the past."

Drey smiled as he gently turned Jeremy's face toward himself.

"It's going to be okay. Oliver is kind of a sucker for you too"

"You think?"

"I know"

He kissed the omega deeply before they pulled apart to catch their breath, but when they leaned in to kiss again—

Jaden got between them and glared at Drey.

The alpha looked startled while Jeremy burst into laughter.

"Hey little man, he's mine too you know?" Drey told Jaden, but Jeremy's laughter overshadowed their cute one-sided banter as Jaden crawled over to Jeremy's lap and sat there still glaring at Drey.

Somewhere in the pack's little hospital, where many people were currently receiving treatment, Oliver sat with his head resting beside a bed on which Mica lay still, an oxygen mask covering her nose and mouth while the life-support machine beeped quietly beside her in a steady rhythm.

Her finger twitched, then slowly, she opened her eyes.
It took a minute for them to adjust to the light before she turned her head slightly and saw Oliver lying there.

A relieved sigh escaped her and she reached out to touch him.

The moment he felt her touch, Oliver shot upright.

"Mica? Mica, you're awake! Nurse!..."

He was about to rush off when Mica grabbed his hand.

"Don't go, Oliver."

The blond alpha sighed as he held her hand in both of his.

"I'm not leaving, Mica. I'm just going to get the nurse."

"I don't need a nurse."

Mica tightened her grip and pulled off the oxygen mask before trying to sit upright.

"I'm fine, Oliver. Don't treat me like a wuss... shit that hurts!"

Oliver chuckled as he watched her huffing in pain after falling back on the bed

"Yeah after hearing you curse just seconds after getting up, I'm convinced you're okay. Still, a nurse needs to see you"

"I'm sorry Oliver" she said making him pause "when I found myself in that deep abysmal darkness, I found myself praying only to wake up and say that. I shouldn't have treated you like you meant nothing to me."

Oliver smiled as he turned to her

"I know how much I mean to you and it's not nothing. You mean so much to me, your little action from that night I understood"

With that Oliver walked away to call for a nurse.

A tear ran down her cheeks before a relieved sigh escaped her.

"I'm alive, Oliver's seems fine too... does that mean we won?"

In the dimly lit room,

Chris's eyes slowly opened to a dimly lit room illuminated only by a small lamp.

His brain was quick to remember the last moment before he lost consciousness and he gasped.

"Jeremy!"

He sat up but recoiled immediately as pain shot through his side.

Even more panic surfaced when he tried to reach for the injury and felt his wrist restrained.
His hand was chained to the bed.
His eyes widened.

"Even in your near-death experience, that's the only name that matters to you, huh, mate?"

A voice spoke from somewhere within the room.
