See It As A Compensation

See It As A Compensation
“You're not going to open this?” Eve yelled.”

Her heels tapped on the floor as she glared at him in anger. He must be ignoring her on purpose. His aim was to piss her off.

“Noah, I'm literally standing outside. Open this damn shit.”

“Can't you see I'm busy?” He finally spoke.

She cracked in disbelief.

“And can't you see I'm waiting here?”

“I didn't ask you to come, did I? We had no appointment. Meet with my secretary and schedule an appointment with me if you so much want to see me. I'm busy right now.”

She laughed again. This man. He must think that she came here to chit-chat or smile with him. There is no way on earth that she is going to turn back and leave without getting what she wants. She's not leaving here until she settles scores.

“No, you're not. I can see that. You were busy scrolling on your phone before I came.”

He didn't reply to her. Taking things into her hands, Eve walked to the other side of the glass office so she could stand somehow close to the chair where he was sitting. She picked up both her shoes and raised them.

“If you don't reply in five, I'm breaking this glass.”

“One.”

“Stop kidding and leave. Make an appointment or find your way out.”

“Two!”

Noah rolled his eyes. He knew that she would not be able to break that glass. It was Genevieve after all. She was fragile and calm from what he remembers.

“Three!”

He side-eyed her.

“Noah, I'm not kidding. Four!”

“I thought we were on the surname basis. What's with the ‘Noah?’”

“I'll call you whatever I want to. Open the door or I'm breaking this. For the last time.”

“Such an attention seeker.”

She clenched the heels on her hands. Did he just call her an attention seeker? Well, she was going to show him what being an attention seeker was.

“Five!!!!”

With that, she faced the heels to the glass, and using every bit of strength she hit the glass with it and watched as it started cracking.

Noah immediately sprang up from his chair.

One more hit from her heels and the glass shattered on the floor causing them to move backward and watch it shatter. Noah’s mouth was agape. He stared at the shattered glass in shock.

“I told you, right?” Putting on her heels, Eve walked and made her way through the glass.

“Hey, you're gonna get hurt.”

Smiling, she flipped her hair backward and without a care in the world made her way to him, walking past the glass that she shattered. How does she know that particular glass will shatter if she uses her heels on it? It wasn't her first time here and while they were married, Noah had mentioned that this glass was not strong like the others and was for protection also. He must be so shocked.

“Shocking, right?”

“What the fuck did you do, Genevieve?”

“I broke the glass. You can see, right? I told you, Noah, stop messing with me. You keep pissing me off.”

Noah chuckled. This new boldness of her, who was he to say that he did not like it? In fact, he loves it. She was full of surprises, really. He must keep pretending to get what he wants.

“Now what do you want?” He asked, walking back to his seat.

“Stop all of these.”

“These? Did I do something? I can't remember doing anything.”

“You know what you did so stop pretending.”

“What?”

“It's all because of you that my father is in the hospital. You have to stop. Yeah, I get it that we are enemies and that I did shit to your company recently but that doesn't mean you can do say. I get it that we drew a battle line but let's stop it already. My father’s life is in danger.”

“First you came here and forced your way into my office and now you are accusing me of doing something? Be specific.”

“Fine. Since you're going to keep acting dumb anyway, I'll tell you. Didn't you make that false news? Didn't you make everyone believe that I did all of that? You made the investors retreat. I want you to fix the mess and I promise to be out of this forever. I'm not coming in your way again.”

That was a big lie and they both know it. She was trying to get him to do her bidding and after he did that, she would continue with her plan. Yes, she was pleading with him but it was only for the meantime. Her pride was getting hurt just by doing these. If it wasn't for her father, she definitely wouldn't be here pleading with his prideful ass.

She saw him smirk at her words and good Lord, she stopped herself from thrusting her fingers into his damn sexy eyes.

“Well, I don't know what you're talking about.”

“Noah.”

“You want to get angry? Come on, scream, yell at me. You're the one who needs help anyway,” he said as he used his fingers to comb his hair backward. “Stop clenching your wrist, you're going to get hurt.”

“I don't see how that concerns what we're saying.”

“I don't want you to get hurt, Eve.”

“When did you start caring if I get hurt or not.”

“Since now. You're going to have to deal with it.”

Silence fell over them as their eyes locked. The first to break gaze was Eve. She was sure he was playing with her as always. She won't let him get to her.

“Get rid of the news, Noah, and get the Gray’s corporation back on its feet. That's all I'm asking.”

Noah nodded and slowly stood up from his chair to walk to stand in front of her. Showing her how small she was compared to him. He was suddenly making her feel less confident in her abilities and in her plans to get revenge.

“Why should I, Eve? Give me one reason why I should help you. I might have given that news to the media and brought the Gray Corporation down, I might not be the one. But either way, give me a good reason why I should help you.”

“Because… because.”

“See? No reason. I don't think I can….”

“I have a good reason.”

“What is it then?”

“You should see this as compensation for what you did back then,” she answered. She didn't want to bring up her past but looking at the way things were, She had to. There isn't a stop to this.

“You humiliated me a year ago. You threw me out of the house when I did nothing, you accused me, and Ms Kew ee the world sees me differently. This is the least you can pay as a compensation.”

At the mention of their past, Noah’s gaze softened and he moved even closer to her.

“You know that I did not mean any of that a year ago, right?”

“You did. Mo..move away from me. You're too close.” She ain't falling for his tricks this time around. They're not going to work on her. Some few weeks ago, he called her names and blamed her for Melissa’s condition and now, he’s acting remorseful. Not this time.

“What are you doing?” She asked when he kept loving closer causing her to start moving backward in an attempt to get away from him. “Stay away, ahh.”  Her heels suddenly failed her and she felt herself falling backward to the floor but before she could, she felt his strong hand wrap on her waist and brought her to him so that her chest touched his. They were too close for her liking.

She felt him sniff her and she frowned trying to push him away. What was he, a puppy?”

“You smell just like I remember.”

“Let me go, you bastard.”

“You don't miss me? I know you do.” He said breathing in her ear.

“In your dreams.”

“How about this?” She was confused until his lips descended on her neck and sucked harshly on it. She tried to push him away but he was too strong for her.

His lips and tongue caressed her neck causing her knees to weaken. Suddenly, he stopped kissing her
and completely freed her from his hold.

She breathed harshly and stared at him in anger. Before she could say anything, he turned and walked back to his table.

“I can help you, Eve.”

Her mind calmed down a bit.

“You will?”

“Of course. It's gentlemanly to not let a woman plead for long.”

Her eyes rolled. He was anything but a gentleman.

“So you'll start now?”

“I said I can help you, I didn't say I will.”

“What do you mean?”

“You have to decide. I'll only help you if you sign this.”

He walked back to her with a file in his hand which he handed to her. “If you can sign this, then we're good to go. I'll immediately make a phone call and all of these will be settled.”

She looked at the file in her hands and opened it slowly to read what was written on it. Her eyes widened when she saw the heading.

“Marriage Agreement,” she read out loud and looked at him in shock and anger. “What?”

“It's easy, Eve. We get married and your problems are solved. Sign it and In one call, the Gray company will rise on its feet again. It's a Win-Win situation here.”

“You think I want to get married to you? The last time was a mistake. Not anymore.”

She shoved the file at him and stared at him in disgust. “Never! I'll solve my problems, just you watch and see.”

With that, she barged out of the office just the same way she did. She passed through the broken glass and angrily made her way out of the floor with Ella running after her.

Meanwhile, Noah slumped on this chair with a smile on his lips. Sweet Sweet Eve. She was interesting and he didn't have to run after her. She was going to come back to him, he was sure of that.
