Upon arriving home, Deanna simply thanked and returned indoors.
At this moment, the two little ones had just finished their baths and were sitting with their grandmother playing chess.
As soon as they saw Deanna return, they immediately ran over.
The two little kittens, who had been napping, also quickly got up upon hearing the commotion, and with their short legs, they ran towards Deanna.
As the kittens arrived by her side, one of them flipped over and lay on its back, as if asking for a belly rub.
The sight of the four adorable creatures was heartwarming.
"Mama!"
"Mama, where did you go? Why did you come back so late?"
Gregory's childish voice asked.
Deanna chuckled lightly, ruffled Gregory's head, and said, "Mommy went to help Mr. Mercer with his illness just now."
At the mention of Lance, Chloe's eyes sparkled, and her bright black eyes looked towards Deanna, asking, "Is handsome uncle feeling better?"
"Mama, we haven't seen handsome uncle for a long time!"
As she spoke, she pouted, looking a bit disappointed.
Deanna's smile deepened at their words, and she said helplessly, "You two really like Mr. Mercer, don't you?"
After all, these two kids had only met Lance a few times. It was the first time she had seen them cling to a stranger like this.
Chloe nodded, her soft voice sounding, "Of course, Uncle is so handsome and kind to me and my brother. He even brought us gifts before."
As she spoke, Chloe nodded as if to affirm her words, looking serious.
Deanna chuckled, taking the opportunity to teach them, "Speaking of which, Mommy has to talk to you two properly."
"Accepting gifts from others without reason is not right, you know?"
Chloe blinked her big eyes and asked in confusion, "So, can't we accept the gifts from handsome uncle?"
Deanna picked up Chloe and pinched her chubby cheeks.
"You shouldn't accept gifts randomly. No work, no reward, understand?"
Chloe pouted and said, "Okay."
It was hard to tell if she really understood or not.
After playing with the two little ones for a while, Deanna let them go to their room.
After Chloe lay down on the bed, she whispered, "Gregory's injuries are better now. He has to go to kindergarten tomorrow. Get some rest early. Good night."
"Mommy, good night."
"Good night~"
The next morning, Deanna sent the two little ones to kindergarten early.
"Mama, we're going in. You can go home now."
Gregory held Chloe's hand, looking like a little adult.
Deanna smiled and agreed, "Okay."
But as she watched the two little ones' backs, worry flashed unconsciously in her eyes.
Seeing Deanna's concern, the teacher comforted her, "Deanna, don't worry. What happened before will never happen again."
The teacher's expression was solemn. What happened before was partly their fault.
Deanna nodded lightly, "Thank you, teacher."
Then she turned and left.
...
On the way home, remembering that the problem with the herbs hadn't been solved yet, Deanna decided to stop by Mercer Manor.
The rarer herbs should be found by Xavier, and the rest should be available from Old Hughes.
Thinking this, as soon as she walked into the pharmacy, Ava's voice came from inside.
"Dr. Deanna is here!"
Her clear little face was full of smiles.
Hearing this title, Deanna was a little surprised but amused.
She smirked and said, "Why did Ava suddenly change how she addresses me? Didn't she always call me Miss Jones before?"
Ava laughed, "That was my mistake before. Our boss highly praises Dr. Deanna's medical skills, so naturally, I should address you as a doctor."
Deanna's smile grew even more, feeling a bit speechless.
While they were talking, Old Hughes also walked out of the house.
Seeing Deanna, Old Hughes was also delighted, "Anna is here. What herbs are you bringing to sell today?"
His tone was full of curiosity and anticipation.
Every time Deanna brought something, it always surprised him.
Deanna shook her head, "I'm not selling herbs today. I'm here to buy some."
Hearing this, Old Hughes was a little disappointed.
He sighed helplessly and muttered, "I thought I would see some precious herbs again."
"Whatever herbs Anna needs, just show them to Ava directly."
Deanna naturally understood Old Hughes's little thoughts.
She just smiled and then took out her list, handing it to Ava.
Ava took it, glanced at it, and said, "Dr. Deanna, wait here. I'll go get your medicine."
After she left, only Deanna and Old Hughes were left.
Suddenly, Old Hughes seemed to remember something and said, "Right, Anna, you came at the perfect time!"
"I've been helping an old friend adjust a tonic recently, but somehow, it always feels like it's missing something. Come, take a look for me..."
Then, he directly pulled Deanna into the house.
Deanna felt helpless but still chuckled and followed along.
This prescription was mainly for bone recovery, and it was clear that Old Hughes had put a lot of thought into it, adding all the best herbs.
But sometimes, having too many good herbs could create a strong reaction, which wasn't good.
Deanna picked up a pen and gently crossed out two herbs.
"This should do."
Seeing this, Old Hughes suddenly felt enlightened.
"Indeed, Anna, you have experience!"
