Chapter 966: Learning from Deanna

Hearing that Deanna had such awareness, Samantha and Logan were both pleased.

"Anyway, thank you for your hard work. Of course, I'll also make time every day to help take care of the children," Samantha said to Deanna with a gentle smile.

As Lance's mother, she wouldn't let her future daughter-in-law bear all the responsibilities.

Thus, during the days when Eula was recovering from her injuries, Deanna took on the roles of doctor and therapist.

Samantha would come by every day to assist Deanna, chat with Eula, but mostly help look after the two little ones.

Lance was even busier, dealing with the remaining issues of the company and integrating their overseas acquisitions.

Among them, the most idle person was probably Old Ashley.

Even Gunner had to go to the hospital daily to treat Lionel and then head to the research institute in the afternoon.

After all, Deanna couldn't leave temporarily.

In the blink of an eye, half a month passed.

Eula's injuries had mostly healed, and she could get out of bed and walk around.

As a result, she couldn't sit still and wanted to go downstairs every day to eat with everyone.

The main reason was that she was tired of staying in her room, listening to the laughter and conversations downstairs without being able to join in.

Especially at night, she occasionally heard Lance playing in the garden with the two children. That deep, joyful voice was something she had never heard before.

At those times, she feared she was too late to act.

So she was anxious to integrate herself here and be accepted by everyone.

Deanna understood her thoughts very well.

Though frustrated, Deanna braced herself to deal with it.

She believed in Lance and was determined not to sit idly by while Eula played her tricks.

That evening, after dinner with the family, Samantha returned to the old house.

Deanna said to Eula as she had done in the past few days, "Let me help you back to your room to rest."

"I don't want to go back so early today. I want to take a walk in the garden with you all. Lying down right after eating every day makes me feel like I'm gaining weight," Eula refused, pretending playfully as she tugged at her waist and pouted at Lance.

Deanna found Eula's familiar expression somewhat irritating.

It was because Deanna had noticed over the past few days that Eula was imitating her every move, including her attitude towards Lance.

However, Eula didn't suit this demeanor at all. Being an Espuenian woman, she lacked Deanna's petite frame. Though Eula's features were exquisite, they carried a certain boldness. She was more of a tomboy trying to mimic Deanna's gentle and graceful manner, which looked out of place.

Lance felt the same way but didn't realize Eula was imitating Deanna to get his attention.

He thought it was just another one of Eula's quirky phases.

Such things had happened before when they were in school.

"Speak properly. Don't set a bad example for Gregory and Chloe."

"Ahem..."

Deanna covered her mouth and coughed lightly to suppress her urge to laugh.

Look at that-the power of her children's father. How could she not trust him?

Lance thought Deanna was choking and handed her a glass of water. "Have some water."

"Thank you," Deanna said sweetly, smiling at Lance.

Eula watched their interaction and couldn't help but grind her teeth in frustration.

She could see that Deanna was mocking her.

But she wouldn't give up!

Feigning indignation, she glared at Lance. "Is this how you treat your savior? And how did I set a bad example for the kids? Didn't I seem gentle and cute just now?" She shamelessly praised herself while looking at the two little ones.

The children blinked, unsure whether to tell the truth or lie.

Meanwhile, Lance and Deanna stared at Eula with different expressions but shared the same thought: When did this woman become so shameless?

Deanna then realized her thought was incorrect. This woman had always been shameless. Knowing that Lance was her fiancé and the father of her children, Eula still tried to seduce him.

Lance's face darkened as he watched Eula ignore his warnings and continue talking nonsense to his two children.

"I think you should stay in your room. Sam, please arrange for someone to escort her back."

Without waiting for Eula's protest, he took Deanna's hand in one hand and Chloe's in the other, signaling Gregory to follow them as they left.

Watching the family of three disappear, Eula struggled to maintain her facade.

She hadn't expected her first move to be thwarted not by Deanna but by Lance himself.

She knew Lance hadn't figured out her intentions and still saw her as he did in high school during her quirky phases.

This troubled her greatly.

What could she do to change Lance's perception of her from a brotherly figure?
