Knock, knock, knock-
There was a knock on the door.
Even though Eula was sure her appearance was fine, she couldn't help but tidy her hair and clothes again before saying, "Come in."
As her words fell, Lance and Deanna pushed the door open and walked in.
Behind them were Samantha and Logan, along with their two curious little ones.
"Eula, these are my parents. They are very grateful that you saved me," Lance introduced, pointing to his parents.
Samantha and Logan looked at the foreign woman sitting on the bed, who exuded a heroic aura. They were quite taken aback by her striking appearance.
They had always thought that someone who could be close friends with Lance and fight alongside him would be rough and rugged. They didn't expect her to be so delicate and refined.
"Miss Eula, thank you for saving our Lance. This is a small token of our appreciation. We hope you will accept it. Of course, your kindness in saving Lance cannot be repaid with mere material things," Samantha said as she placed the prepared gift on the bedside table.
The two little ones also approached, looking at Eula with gratitude. In their childish voices, they said, "Auntie, thank you for saving our daddy. If it weren't for you, my sister and I might not have a daddy anymore."
"From now on, Auntie will be my favorite after Mommy and Godmother," Chloe added softly.
Unbeknownst to them, their words did not endear them to Eula at all.
Eula looked at the two little ones who were like miniature versions of Lance and Deanna, and her smile faded slightly.
However, in front of Lance and his parents, she couldn't show too much dislike for the children.
"Thank you for your gratitude, but there's no need to thank me. Saving Lance was something I should have done," Eula said, trying to avoid acknowledging Lance as the father of these two children.
No one else noticed anything amiss, except for Deanna, who sensed the awkwardness in Eula's words.
Deanna couldn't help but shake her head inwardly. She hadn't expected that even at this point, this woman still hadn't given up.
Meanwhile, the conversation continued.
The focus shifted from the children to Samantha and Logan.
"Now you just need to focus on recovering. If you want to eat something or do something, just let Lance or Deanna know. Once you're better, we will treat you to a meal," Samantha said warmly to Eula, who exuded a unique blend of elegance and heroism.
Of course, Samantha's fondness for Eula was also because she had saved Lance.
Eula understood this well and played the part of a good girl in front of the elders. She smiled and said, "When I recover, don't forget your promise. This is my first time in Chiaz. I've always heard from Lance that the food here is the most authentic."
"Lance wasn't wrong. The restaurants abroad that claim to serve Chiaz cuisine can't compare to the real thing here," Samantha responded with a smile.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the room was warm and cozy.
Guided by Eula, Samantha talked more about the local attractions in Chiaz and some stories about Lance, making it hard for anyone to see through her thoughts.
It wasn't until Sam came up to announce that dinner was ready that they stopped chatting.
"Logan, Samantha, please go downstairs for dinner," Eula said sweetly as she waved to Samantha and Logan.
Samantha liked her personality very much and said gently, "Good girl, you rest well. I'll come see you tomorrow and bring you some of our famous medicinal cuisine from Chiaz to help you recover faster."
"Really?" Eula looked over with a face full of surprise and joy, making Samantha's smile deepen.
"Of course it's true," Samantha nodded.
"Then I need to get better quickly," Eula said with a look of eager anticipation that made Deanna almost roll her eyes.
This woman was really going all out to win favor.
Wouldn't Lance find it strange?
Thinking this, Deanna couldn't help but glance over at Lance, only to find him looking calm and unsurprised by Eula's behavior.
"What's wrong?" Lance noticed Deanna's gaze and looked over.
Deanna shook her head and smiled. "Nothing."
Soon, the group bid farewell to Eula and went to the dining room for dinner.
Old Ashley saw them coming down and asked with concern, "How is that young lady?"
"She seems quite spirited," Samantha replied cheerfully. Then she turned to Deanna with a serious expression.
Deanna sensed her gaze and had a vague idea of what was coming but still asked innocently, "Samantha, what's wrong?"
"Deanna, I know you practice traditional medicine and can make medicinal cuisine. Could I ask you to prepare some suitable dishes for Eula during her recovery?" Samantha asked somewhat apologetically.
Deanna smiled. "It's no trouble at all. Even if you hadn't mentioned it, I had already planned to do so. Miss Eula saved Lance. Without her, I can't imagine how badly Lance might have been hurt. So I'm willing to share this gratitude with Lance."
