Chapter 962: I Am Willing to Risk My Life for Lance

"Alright, stop trying to scare me. Do you think I don't know my own body?" Eula interrupted Deanna, giving her a sideways glance.

Deanna pressed her lips together but said nothing more.

But Eula wasn't about to let her off the hook. "I heard you talking to Lance earlier. You mentioned something about my health. What's going on?"

As they spoke, they reached the bedside. Eula lay back down with Deanna's help but kept her eyes fixed on her.

Clearly, she was waiting for an answer.

Deanna looked at the pale woman in front of her. Despite her frustration, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

"You..."

After a few seconds of hesitation, Deanna closed her eyes and revealed the harsh truth. "Due to the severity of your injuries, your uterus was severely damaged. The doctors had no choice but to remove it."

With that, Deanna felt a slight sense of relief. She stood there, not daring to look at Eula's expression, waiting for her anger.

However, several minutes passed without any reaction from Eula. Curiously, Deanna looked up to see Eula sitting on the bed, dazed and unresponsive to the news.

It was understandable; anyone would be shocked to learn they could no longer have children.

Deanna spoke again, "Eula, both Lance and I are deeply sorry for this outcome. We are grateful for what you did to save Lance. Whatever conditions you have, as long as they are within our capabilities, we will take responsibility."

"Take responsibility? How?" Eula snapped back to reality, her eyes dark and piercing as she looked at Deanna.

Deanna met her gaze and felt a sudden sense of foreboding.

Eula raised an eyebrow and said something that made Deanna's blood boil. "If my condition is Lance, would you agree?"

"Eula, I said within our capabilities! Lance is a person, not an object!" Deanna's face hardened as she made her stance clear.

Eula wasn't fazed. Leaning back against the headboard with a smirk, she retorted, "Didn't you just say you'd take responsibility for any condition within your capabilities? Is leaving Lance something you can't do?"

"Absolutely not!" Deanna replied without hesitation.

Eula tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. "If that's the case, Miss Jones, you shouldn't make misleading statements."

Deanna felt a surge of anger. What did she mean by misleading statements? It was Eula who was being unreasonable!

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Deanna reminded herself that Eula was a patient and not worth arguing with.

But she couldn't completely suppress her irritation. "Eula, if that's truly your condition, you should discuss it with Lance. This isn't something I can decide on my own."

This statement seemed to give Deanna the upper hand. Seeing Eula's stiff expression, Deanna's anger subsided a bit.

"For now, I'll get your medication and bring you something to eat," she said, turning to leave.

Watching her retreating figure, Eula couldn't hold back her bitterness. "Deanna, I would die for Lance. Would you? You don't even understand his world. What right do you have to stand by his side? Don't you know that your presence is a burden to him?"

Deanna paused but didn't stop walking. Her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

Seeing no reaction, Eula thought she hadn't been harsh enough and continued. "You know about Lance's situation in Espuenia, right? If it weren't for your incompetence, he wouldn't have taken such risks. Do you know how many assassinations and ambushes we faced abroad?"

"I may not know the dangers you faced abroad, but I know that everything Lance did for me was out of genuine love," Deanna finally turned around and glared at Eula. "I know I'm weak compared to Lance, but I won't always be this way."

She paused, noticing the mocking smile on Eula's face.

Deanna knew what Eula was about to say and decided to speak first to avoid hearing anything more infuriating.

"And yes, you said you'd die for Lance. If I had been there, I would have made the same decision. I believe your love for Lance is no less than mine. But Lance chose me. If you can't accept that, then you should know what kind of person Lance is."
