Chapter 961: Eula Woke Up

Over the next two days, although Eula was not in life-threatening danger, her condition fluctuated with high fevers, and she remained unconscious.

Deanna and Dr. Cohen took turns caring for her.

Gunner occasionally helped them, but he spent more time at the hospital treating Lionel.

As for Lance, he was extremely busy every day.

Due to the previous leak of confidential information, many projects had to change their operations, causing numerous issues.

After nearly a week of continuous efforts, the situation finally began to improve.

That day, Deanna was examining Eula when she suddenly heard a weak voice.

"Water..."

Eula frowned, her voice hoarse as if she were murmuring.

If Deanna hadn't been leaning close to her, she might not have heard it.

"Eula, you're awake?!" Deanna exclaimed excitedly.

However, Eula did not respond and kept repeating the word "water."

Even so, Deanna was happy. She stood up, picked up the water cup from the bedside table, and used a cotton swab to moisten Eula's lips bit by bit.

After some time, Deanna heard the weak voice again, this time with a hint of surprise.

"Deanna, why is it you?!"

Eula looked at the woman in front of her. There was no one else in the room, and her face showed obvious disdain.

Deanna noticed this and subtly raised an eyebrow. Considering that Eula had saved Lance, she refrained from saying anything harsh and explained, "Your identity is too special; it's not suitable for others to have too much contact with you."

"And what about Lance? Is he really okay with leaving me alone?"

Eula asked directly, clearly unhappy that she hadn't seen Lance upon waking up.

Deanna understood her thoughts. Although she felt uncomfortable, she patiently explained, "Lance went to the company. After all, he's a man; staying here isn't convenient. Besides, with me here, there's nothing to worry about."

The last part was deliberately said for Eula to hear.

Eula's face fell immediately. She bluntly said, "I don't want to see you. Get Lance here."

"Lance is busy. If you want to see him, wait until he comes back tonight. I'll let him know."

Deanna didn't refuse Eula's request but didn't want Lance to delay his work over this small matter and end up working overtime at night.

Although she didn't refuse outright, she intended to delay until the evening.

After all, Lance had been coming home very late these days.

Eula read Deanna's thoughts and sneered, "You say he's busy, but you just don't want me to see Lance, right?"

Deanna pursed her lips, embarrassed that her thoughts were exposed but didn't deny it.

"I indeed don't want you to see Lance..."

She looked directly at Eula and spoke before Eula could respond, "Of course, I know that's impossible. After all, you saved Lance. I can't be ungrateful."

Hearing this, Eula's anger subsided a bit. She snorted lightly, "Good that you know. I want to see Lance now. Is his work more important than me?"

Looking at the proud woman in front of her, Deanna felt like laughing in her face.

Deanna took a deep breath to suppress her displeasure. "I'll call him. Stay in bed and don't move!"

"Hurry up," Eula urged her with a wave of her hand.

Deanna gave her a deep look, then turned and walked out of the room with her phone to call Lance.

The call connected quickly, and Lance's gentle voice came through.

"What's up?"

"Eula woke up."

Deanna paused before continuing, "She wants to see you."

Lance didn't hesitate. "Tell her I'll come back as soon as I finish my work."

Although Deanna knew Lance had no other intentions and was simply grateful for Eula saving his life, she couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable hearing his immediate agreement.

She didn't say anything about it and changed the subject. "Should I tell her about her condition or will you?"

"You tell her first so she's aware of the situation. I'll discuss the details with her later."

Lance thought for a moment before deciding.

Deanna agreed and reminded him to be careful on his way back before hanging up.

As Deanna turned to return to the room, she was startled by someone standing at the door.

"Miss Eula, who allowed you to get out of bed?" she exclaimed, quickly putting away her phone and rushing over to support Eula back into the room.

She didn't forget to scold her lightly, "Your wound has just started healing. Can you stop making things worse? Do you know how harmful it is for your body if the wound needs to be stitched again?"
