Deanna watched the butler running towards her and couldn't help but find it amusing. She realized he had misunderstood the situation, which allowed her tense nerves to relax a bit.
Later, after she had just finished washing up and stepped out of the bathroom, she heard a knock on the door.
"Missus, the doctor is here. I'll bring him in to check your wound."
"Come in."
Deanna put down the towel she was using to dry her hair and sat on the sofa.
The next second, the butler entered with the doctor, someone Deanna was familiar with. "Dr. Cohen, why are you here?"
"I heard from the hospital that someone needed to be seen at Hencard Villa. I thought something might have happened to you all, so I came over. Where's Lance?"
Braylon looked around the room but didn't see Lance.
Deanna noticed his confusion and realized he didn't know about Lance's situation. She decided not to mention it. "Lance is still abroad."
However, Braylon saw through her immediately.
"Miss Jones, did something happen to Lance abroad?"
Deanna fell silent, unsure how to respond.
Seeing her reaction, Braylon knew he had guessed correctly.
He softened his tone and said, "If it's inconvenient to talk about it, you don't have to force yourself. I just found it odd that something so significant happened at Mercer Group, yet Lance hasn't shown up, so I asked."
"I see. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Cohen. Lance's situation is indeed something I can't discuss right now. I hope you understand."
Deanna looked at him gratefully.
Braylon nodded in understanding and then changed the subject. "I heard from the butler that you were injured and lost a lot of blood. But you don't look like you've lost much blood."
"I wasn't injured. The blood on me was someone else's. The butler saw me covered in blood and got scared, so he rushed to contact your hospital without asking me first."
Deanna chuckled as she explained.
Even so, she still took some topical medicine from Braylon.
Although Shannon and Nightingale had protected her well last night, she still had some scrapes.
As Braylon was about to leave after giving Deanna the ointment, Logan and Samantha appeared at the door, out of breath.
"Deanna, the butler said you were hurt. Are you okay?"
Samantha walked in anxiously and looked Deanna up and down.
Logan followed behind, also looking concerned.
Deanna was slightly taken aback by their sudden appearance but quickly reassured them. "Samantha, Logan, I'm fine. The butler misunderstood."
"Are you really okay?"
Samantha asked again, still worried.
Deanna nodded and smiled. "Look at me standing here perfectly fine. Do I look like I'm hurt? Plus, Dr. Cohen is here. If you don't believe me, you can ask him."
Everyone turned to look at Braylon.
Braylon immediately explained, "Mr. Mercer, Mrs. Mercer, it was indeed a misunderstanding. Miss Jones is not injured."
Hearing this, Logan and Samantha finally relaxed.
Seeing that the three seemed to have something to discuss, Braylon tactfully excused himself.
Before leaving, he reminded Deanna, "If Lance returns, have him contact me."
"I will. Take care, Mr. Cohen."
Deanna nodded and watched him leave before turning back to Logan and Samantha. "You must have questions for me."
Logan and Samantha nodded without denying it.
Especially Samantha, who grabbed Deanna's hand anxiously and asked, "What happened with you and Lance abroad? Is there still no news about him?"
Because of the company's issues, Logan hadn't hidden the news about Lance from her.
After all, it couldn't be kept secret for long.
Meeting their worried eyes, Deanna didn't hide anything and told them everything she knew.
"Although there's no news about Lance right now, no news is good news for us. And I believe he will be fine!"
Deanna spoke with conviction as she looked at Logan and Samantha.
Their expressions were complicated.
Especially Logan; Deanna noticed a hint of anger in his eyes.
Unbeknownst to her, Logan was indeed angry.
He was furious that Lance had caused such a big issue abroad without informing the family. Wasn't managing the large Mercer Group enough? How could he get involved with foreign forces? Did he think those were easy to control?
However, he didn't voice these thoughts to Deanna. Instead, he said, "Since Xavier and people abroad are looking for Lance, we should focus on handling things here at home."
"Aren't we going to send people abroad to look for him?"
Samantha disagreed and looked over questioningly.
