Although she agreed to return, Deanna did not forget to instruct Xavier.
"If you find Lance, you must inform me immediately. It would be best if Lance contacts me personally."
"Don't worry, missus. As soon as we have any news about Mr. Mercer, I will notify you right away," Xavier promised with a nod.
Half an hour later, Deanna boarded a helicopter to fly back home.
Watching the black dot gradually disappear into the sky, Xavier let out a sigh of relief.
Randall noticed his expression and snorted in displeasure. "I told you not to bring that woman here. She only causes trouble!"
"That woman is the missus. Your attitude towards her has become increasingly disrespectful these past two days!" Xavier frowned and scolded him.
He then defended Deanna, "The missus insisted on coming because she was worried about Mr. Mercer. It's only natural. If you continue with this attitude, even though you're Mr. Mercer's good friend, he will still deal with you."
"The boss wouldn't blame me for something like this," Randall dismissed the warning.
Little did he know, he would suffer greatly at Lance's hands because of this matter later on.
Xavier saw Randall's indifference and shook his head, deciding not to persuade him further.
Xavier's expression turned serious as he spoke about what happened last night. "When the missus and I arrived here yesterday, you and Miss Eula had already sealed off the information. Yet, news about the missus still got leaked. This indicates that we have a traitor among us."
His last words were chilling, and his demeanor changed entirely.
Randall's face also turned grim as he ground his teeth. "It seems I didn't clean up thoroughly enough before. I will dig out these traitors even if I have to turn the place upside down!"
Xavier saw the determination on Randall's face and said nothing more. After all, within the organization, only Mr. Mercer and Randall had authority.
Meanwhile, Eula received news of the failed ambush.
"Are they all useless? How could they fail at such a perfect opportunity?!" She glared at her confidant with eyes that seemed to want to devour him.
Terrified, the confidant replied with cold sweat on his forehead, "It was too dark at the time. Our people followed the wrong target. By the time we realized it and turned back, we couldn't find Deanna and her group anymore."
Hearing this, Eula was furious and cursed repeatedly, "A bunch of idiots! You can't accomplish anything but ruin everything!"
The confidant stood trembling with his head down.
After a few minutes of venting her anger, Eula coldly questioned, "What about that woman Deanna?"
"She was sent back to Chiaz by Randall," the confidant answered truthfully.
Eula felt unwilling but helpless.
Calming herself down, she instructed, "Gather some people. We will go meet Randall and his group."
Since Randall knew about the ambush on Deanna, it would be suspicious if she didn't show any reaction as his collaborator.
Thus, on their way back, Randall and Xavier encountered Eula, who had hurriedly come to meet them.
"Xavier, I heard someone ambushed Miss Jones on the way to the highway. Are you all right?" Eula asked with concern as soon as she got out of the car. She continued explaining how she rushed over with her people but only found some injured men and no sign of Xavier's group.
Xavier and Randall listened without suspicion. After thanking Eula for her rescue efforts, they briefly explained the current situation.
"Miss Eula, don't worry. Although last night was dangerous, the missus is fine and has been sent back," Xavier said, pausing before mentioning the traitor issue with a serious expression.
Eula's eyes flickered momentarily but quickly returned to normal.
The group then discussed plans to identify the traitor.
Unaware of these events, Deanna finally returned to Chiaz after a twenty-hour flight.
However, instead of going straight to the manor, she went to Hencard Villa first. Her current appearance was too disheveled and bloody; she didn't want to scare the children and her grandmother.
The butler at Hencard Villa almost fainted when he saw Deanna covered in blood stepping off the helicopter.
Fortunately, he steadied himself quickly and scolded the servants nearby, "Can't you see that the missus is injured? Help her immediately!"
"Yes!" The servants responded promptly and supported Deanna on both sides.
Seeing this, Deanna knew the butler had misunderstood. But before she could explain, he hurriedly said, "Take the missus to her room and take good care of her. I'll call a doctor right away. Missus, please hold on." Then he ran off.
