Although Xavier didn't know their exact location, he still had a GPS system on his phone.
Using the GPS, Randall arrived with his team an hour later.
He saw that only Deanna, Shannon, and Xavier were left, less than five people in total, each looking terribly disheveled. His expression grew serious.
Without needing to ask, he knew there had been a fierce battle last night.
Seeing him, Deanna and Xavier both breathed a sigh of relief.
Especially Deanna, who no longer cared about her previous unpleasant interactions with Randall. She walked up quickly and asked urgently, "How many people did you bring? Can you send some to help me find my guard team? They ran in another direction last night to buy me time to escape."
"I can help you find them, but first, you need to go back home immediately and stop causing trouble here," Randall said bluntly.
Deanna's face stiffened for a moment, looking displeased.
Seeing this, Xavier worried that Deanna might get upset. He quickly stepped forward to explain, "Missus, don't misunderstand. Randall just has a harsh way of speaking, but he's actually kind-hearted. He wants you to go back because our main forces are at home and can protect you better. Also, the regulations at home are stricter, making it harder for those dangerous elements to target you again."
Hearing this, Deanna couldn't argue and remained silent.
But that didn't mean she agreed with Xavier.
She didn't want to leave!
Lance was still missing here; she wanted to stay and find him.
"I know you're concerned about my safety, but I'm worried about Lance. Let me stay. I promise to follow your arrangements from now on. If you don't want me to go out, I won't go out!" Deanna suggested a compromise, looking pleadingly at Randall.
She could tell that between Xavier and Randall, Randall was the one in charge.
However, Randall remained unmoved and even struck a nerve. "Missus, do you think not enough people died because of you last night?"
Hearing this, Deanna bit her lip hard as images of last night's escape flashed through her mind. Her eyes reddened instantly, and her face showed pain and guilt.
Seeing her sorrowful expression, Xavier glared at Randall angrily.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Am I not telling the truth? Because of her recklessness, how many brothers died last night?" Randall replied coldly.
Xavier was so angry he almost had a heart attack.
Seeing that Deanna was about to break down, Xavier didn't bother arguing with Randall. He quickly comforted her, "Missus, don't listen to Randall. As Shannon said last night, in this line of work, they've always been prepared to risk their lives. Moreover, Mr. Mercer promised that if anyone sacrificed themselves, Mercer Group would take care of their families and children."
Even so, Deanna didn't feel much better.
Choking up, she said, "When the list of those who died last night is compiled, please give me a copy."
Xavier understood that Deanna wanted to do something for those who had sacrificed themselves and nodded in agreement.
He then returned to the main topic and continued persuading her. "But Missus, I still agree with Randall that you should go back home."
"Xavier!" Deanna looked at him in disbelief.
She thought Xavier would understand and support her decision to stay.
Meeting her gaze, Xavier said seriously, "Missus, I know you're worried about Mr. Mercer. But you have to understand that staying here would give other forces leverage over Mr. Mercer. If they capture you, Mr. Mercer will have to comply with their demands. Besides, Mr. Mercer hasn't been found yet. Randall has to split his forces to protect you, which will make things even harder."
Deanna's face fell into despair.
Even so, she still wanted to try one more time.
"Is there really no way I can stay?"
"Missus, I understand that you want to help. But here, you really can't do much. On the contrary, back home, the company's core information has been leaked by corporate spies, causing chaos. If you want to help Mr. Mercer, help him stabilize the company and prevent further issues," Xavier said, revealing the trouble Mercer Group was facing.
Deanna was shocked. "Mercer Group is in trouble? When did this happen? Why didn't I receive any news?"
She asked several questions in a row.
At that moment, she remembered a call from Logan two days ago.
"It was two days ago, right? Logan looked for Lance because Mercer Group was in trouble?" Deanna sought confirmation from Xavier.
Xavier nodded. "Yes, it was then. So Missus, are you willing to go back and help Mr. Mercer protect the company?"
After hearing this, Deanna hesitated for a few seconds before finally agreeing.
She realized Xavier was right; staying here wouldn't help and would only hinder others from finding Lance. It would be better for her to return and help safeguard Mercer Group so that when Lance returns, he finds a stable company waiting for him.
