Leaving the visiting room, Old Walsh found Hassan in the living room. By then, Hassan had already been briefed by the police.
Without waiting for Old Walsh to ask, he took the initiative to say, "There's no way to post bail, the Mercer family has sent word that they will pursue this to the end."
Old Walsh's expression darkened upon hearing this. He then instructed, "Find out which hospital Dr. Deanna is in."
Just as Leticia had said, he couldn't let a member of the Walsh family end up in jail, as it would greatly affect the family's reputation and the company's involvement.
Thus, he had no choice but to set aside his pride and seek favors from Lance and Dr. Deanna.
Hassan, seeing this, guessed a bit of his grandfather's thoughts. However, he felt that the chances of Mr. Mercer releasing her were slim.
After all, this situation was different from the last; last time Miss Jones wasn't seriously hurt.
Of course, he didn't voice these thoughts, just nodded and turned to make the necessary contacts.
In the hospital's VIP ward, Deanna lay unconscious on the bed, her forehead and face wrapped in white bandages, her complexion deathly pale. Lance sat beside her, his eyes filled with pain. The two little ones also lay on either side of the bed, vigilantly watching over their mommy.
"Daddy, when will mommy wake up?"
"Probably tomorrow," Lance whispered softly.
Hearing this, both children looked visibly disheartened. Seeing this, and realizing he had been preoccupied with Deanna and hadn't yet taken Gregory for a check-up, Lance quickly stood up and walked over to Gregory.
"Daddy?"
Gregory was suddenly lifted up and instinctively clung to the person beside him before realizing it was his daddy, his eyes filled with confusion.
Lance spoke gravely, "Earlier you said that woman kicked you in the stomach. Daddy didn't attend to you immediately; now let's go have it checked."
"I want to go too," Chloe said, worried about her brother.
Lance didn't stop her.
Soon, the father and two children arrived at the doctor's office. Upon learning their purpose, the doctor gently said to Gregory, "Show uncle where you were kicked."
Gregory nodded and lifted his shirt. Under the white light, a significant bruise was evident on his stomach. The doctor couldn't help but gasp and gently probed the area, asking, "Does it hurt?"
"It doesn't hurt," Gregory shook his head.
After pressing a few more spots, the doctor finally relaxed and told Lance, "Fortunately, it hasn't harmed any internal organs. I'll prescribe some medicine to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Apply it on time every day, and it should heal in a few days."
Lance nodded in thanks.
Minutes later, as they left the doctor's office, they ran into Xavier who had come looking for them.
Seeing him, Lance said, "You've come at just the right time. Arrange for someone to take Gregory and Chloe back home."
"We don't want to go back; we want to wait for mommy to wake up," the two children quickly objected.
Chloe tugged at Lance's hand and cooed, "Daddy, let us stay."
Lance looked at their pleading cute faces and felt a tug at his heartstrings. However, he firmly said, "No, your brother needs proper rest. You'll go back tonight, and I'll have someone bring you over tomorrow morning so you can be here when your mommy wakes up."
With no other option, the children reluctantly left, looking back every few steps.
Lance watched them go before signaling Xavier to follow him back to the ward.
On the way, Xavier reported proactively, "The police contacted me just now. The Walsh family tried to bail out Leticia, but they failed as we insist on holding her to account."
"They really dare to think big. Keep an eye on them; we absolutely cannot let the Walsh family get that woman out," Lance said darkly.
Xavier nodded in acknowledgment.
The next day, as dawn broke faintly, Deanna slowly awakened on her hospital bed, feeling a pain emanating from the back of her head.
She winced and frowned, trying to sit up.
Lance, sensing movement beside him and waking from his sleep, saw Deanna struggling to sit up and immediately went to support her.
"You're awake," he said as he helped her sit comfortably against the headboard.
Deanna looked up to see the dark circles under his eyes and said with a touch of heartache, "You've had a hard time."
"Isn't that what I should do? How are you feeling? Should I call a doctor to check on you?"
Lance looked at her with concern.
Deanna gently shook her head, "I'm fine; it's just that the wound hurts a bit."
Saying this, she shifted slightly to make room for Lance to lie down beside her. "It's still early; come lie down and sleep for a while."
"I'm fine. What exactly happened yesterday? How did you end up fighting with Leticia?"
Lance refused and began asking about the events of the previous night.
Deanna didn't hide anything and told him truthfully, "Leticia deceived Gregory and Chloe into thinking she was my friend and had them bring her back to the manor. Once there, Gregory and Chloe really thought she was my friend and contacted me. When I returned, Sam told me Leticia was up to no good trying to enter your study while pretending to be my close friend in front of me; I exposed her then."
