In the luxurious living room, Deanna and Lance sat side by side on the sofa.
Opposite them, Logan and Samantha held the two little ones.
Joyful sounds constantly emanated from Logan, Samantha, and the children.
Occasionally, Deanna and Lance would join in the conversation.
After a while of playful interaction, it was time for dinner.
During the meal, Logan and Samantha kept serving food to the children.
The children ate happily and didn't forget to urge their grandparents to eat as well.
"Grandma, you should eat too."
"Grandpa, this meatball is delicious, you should try it."
They served food to Samantha and Logan, making the elderly couple very happy.
Deanna watched the interaction between the grandparents and grandchildren, smiling contentedly.
At that moment, Lance placed a peeled shrimp in her bowl and said, "Stop watching, eat your food."
Deanna nodded and ate the shrimp Lance had peeled for her, finding it exceptionally delicious.
Their interaction did not go unnoticed by Logan and Samantha.
Samantha looked at her usually cold son, who was now tenderly caring for Deanna, feeling a mix of complex emotions and a tinge of sadness.
As a mother, she had never received such care from her son.
Thinking of this, she gave her son a disapproving look.
Lance noticed and frowned slightly, not understanding what was wrong with his mother.
Could it be that she was still dissatisfied with Deanna?
Lance guessed and decided to talk to his mother privately later.
After dinner, everyone returned to the living room.
The servants brought tea and fruit before tactfully leaving.
Samantha took a sip of tea and glanced at the children snuggling next to Deanna. Reluctant to part with them, she invited, "It's getting late, Miss Jones. Why don't you stay over tonight? I've already had a room prepared."
"Stay over?" Deanna looked over in surprise.
She hadn't expected Samantha to invite her to stay.
Instinctively, she looked at Lance, unsure whether to agree or refuse.
Seeing this, Lance held her hand and looked at his mother, saying calmly, "Staying over is fine, but Deanna will stay in my room."
"Of course. The room I prepared is yours," Samantha replied, exasperated.
It was the first time Deanna saw this side of Mrs. Mercer and couldn't help but smile.
Thus, the couple and their children stayed at the Mercer family mansion for the night.
Since the children had homework to do, Deanna took them to their room to study first.
Lance stayed downstairs chatting with his parents.
Their conversation naturally turned to him and Deanna.
Samantha said seriously, "Since you've decided to be with Miss Jones, your father and I won't oppose it anymore. Just don't regret it later."
"I won't regret it. In this life, I only want to marry Deanna," Lance replied earnestly.
Samantha and Logan didn't know whether to praise their son for his devotion or criticize him for being reckless in love.
"Whatever happens in the future is your own business. Now let's talk about something else," Samantha said, changing the subject.
Lance raised an eyebrow and asked, "What is it?"
Samantha smiled and said, "Since you're with Miss Jones now, can we often have the children over to bond with them?"
Hearing this, Lance understood his mother's intention.
However, he didn't agree immediately and said thoughtfully, "I need to discuss this with Deanna first."
"You need to discuss it with Miss Jones?" Samantha frowned in dissatisfaction.
Lance noticed and nodded, "Of course. You know your previous attitude very well. I don't want Deanna to misunderstand."
"Alright then, go ask her," Samantha agreed reluctantly, knowing she hadn't been entirely fair before.
After chatting with his father about company matters for a while, they all retired to their rooms.
In their room, Deanna saw Lance enter and smiled warmly at him. "Finished talking?"
Lance nodded lightly and looked around the room but didn't see the children.
"Where are the kids?" he asked.
"Gregory and Chloe were tired and are resting in the children's room," Deanna explained before adding considerately, "I've prepared a bath for you in the bathroom."
Lance nodded and went into the bathroom.
About ten minutes later, they were sitting together on the bed.
Deanna leaned against Lance's chest and sighed contentedly about the day's events. "It's great that we can be together openly now without any obstacles."
"Indeed," Lance agreed, tightening his embrace around her.
Then he remembered what his mother had said earlier and brought it up. "My mother asked if she could often have the children over to bond with them."
