Lance naturally did not refuse Deanna.
The next morning, he accompanied Deanna to the mall.
Since Samantha liked jewelry and jade, they went straight to the jewelry store.
After browsing around the store, Deanna set her eyes on a diamond brooch shaped like a phoenix.
She pointed at the brooch and asked, "Do you think your mother would like this brooch?"
Lance glanced at the brooch and praised, "You have good taste. I think my mother would like it."
"Really?" Deanna looked at him in disbelief.
She thought Lance was just comforting her.
Seeing the nervousness in her eyes, Lance squeezed her hand and reassured her, "It's true. Relax. Although my mother was difficult before, since they have decided to accept you, they won't make things hard for you anymore."
Hearing this, Deanna felt somewhat reassured and asked the store clerk to wrap up the brooch.
Next was Logan's gift.
But his gift was easy to buy. After all, men usually like two things: cigarettes and alcohol.
So Deanna bought a bottle of twenty-year-old medicinal wine from Old Hughes.
Old Hughes knew that Deanna was going to officially visit Lance's parents today and joked, "After meeting the parents, is the next step engagement? Let me be the witness when that happens."
"Not so fast." Deanna blushed with embarrassment.
Lance nodded generously and said, "Sure, we'll trouble you to be our witness then."
"Of course, of course," Old Hughes waved his hand and laughed.
Then he changed the subject and asked Deanna about medical matters.
They chatted until almost evening before reluctantly ending their conversation.
As it was almost time for the kids to get out of school, Deanna and Lance went to wait at the school gate.
Later, they picked up the kids and headed to the Mercer family mansion.
As they got closer to the Mercer family mansion, Deanna, who had not been very nervous before, gradually became anxious.
"Lance, can you check my makeup? Is there anything smudged?"
She asked while adjusting her appearance, pulling at her clothes, afraid she had missed something.
Lance watched her actions and laughed, pulling her into his arms. He kissed her forehead gently and said, "Relax, you're fine. Trust me!"
"But I'm still nervous," Deanna looked up at him anxiously.
Seeing this, Lance said nothing more and leaned down to kiss her.
The kids saw this and exclaimed, then covered their eyes with their hands, saying in childish voices, "We didn't see anything."
However, their fingers were spread wide apart.
Hearing their voices, Deanna snapped out of her daze. Her cheeks turned bright red as she pushed Lance away in embarrassment.
Lance didn't insist and let go of Deanna.
Deanna glared at him with a flushed face, "What are you doing? You'll teach the kids bad habits."
"They didn't see anything," Lance said, glancing at the kids.
The kids immediately caught on and said, "That's right, we didn't see anything."
"Yes, Mommy, believe us. We covered our eyes," Chloe chimed in.
If their expressions weren't so mischievous, Deanna might have believed them.
She playfully poked their foreheads and scolded with a smile, "You little rascals."
"Hehe."
The kids covered their foreheads and grinned at her.
Lance hugged Deanna from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. His voice carried a hint of laughter, "Not nervous anymore?"
Hearing this, Deanna realized why Lance had done what he did earlier. She didn't know whether to laugh or be angry.
At that moment, the car stopped. The partition lowered without them noticing, and Xavier's respectful voice came through.
"Mr. Mercer, Missus, we're here."
"Got it," Lance replied and helped Deanna out of the car.
The kids got out with Xavier's help from the other side.
As soon as they stood firm, they were greeted with warm hugs.
Samantha and Logan had already seen the kids and happily came forward to hug them.
"My dear grandchildren, I've missed you so much."
"Granddaughter, did you miss Grandpa?"
The elderly couple hugged the kids affectionately, making them giggle non-stop.
Lance held Deanna by his side without interrupting.
A few minutes later, they all entered the living room.
Deanna handed over the prepared gifts. "This is a small token from me. I hope you like it."
Samantha still felt awkward due to past unpleasantness and only nodded lightly. "That's very thoughtful of you."
"Why so polite? We're family now. Don't do this next time," Logan said courteously.
