Samantha supported Deanna's idea.
"You're right. It's better to catch the ones behind it to guard against them. Let's do as you say!"
"Then here's what we'll do next..."
Deanna carefully explained her plan.
Finally, she looked at Bella with a complex expression and said in a steady voice, "During this time, I'll need Miss Cody to deal with Alonso."
"I understand. I will contact Alonso. If he makes any moves, I'll inform you immediately."
Bella nodded, indicating her cooperation.
After discussing these matters, Samantha still felt a burning anger and wanted to tell her husband about everything.
However, looking at the two people in front of her, she felt uneasy.
Bella seemed to be a cunning and resourceful girl in her eyes.
Deanna, on the other hand, seemed more naive and easily bullied.
Samantha was worried that if she left, Deanna would be bullied by Bella.
Thus, the three of them sat in the living room, chatting intermittently. The atmosphere was indescribably strange and awkward.
Fortunately, this awkward scene didn't last long as Deanna received a call from Old Hughes.
Old Hughes had seen the news online and knew that Lance was in trouble.
Recalling that Deanna had previously consulted him about a treatment plan, he guessed that the person Deanna was treating was most likely Lance.
"Your friend who needs detoxification is Lance, right? Are you in New York now?" His tone was affirmative.
Seeing that Old Hughes had guessed correctly, Deanna no longer hid it and smiled, "I knew I couldn't hide it from you."
"I'm so smart; how could you possibly hide it from me?"
Old Hughes snorted proudly and then asked about the main purpose of his call, "What's the situation with that boy now? Do you need me to come over and help?"
Hearing this, Deanna thought about Old Hughes' age and ultimately declined.
"You don't need to come over. Although Mr. Mercer hasn't woken up yet, all his vital signs are steadily improving. Once we expel all the toxins, Mr. Mercer should wake up."
"That's good to hear," Old Hughes sighed with relief.
Deanna smiled slightly at his tone.
The two then discussed some treatment details before hanging up.
Meanwhile, Samantha was also contacting Logan to relay the information she had obtained from Bella.
By the end of the conversation, she was gritting her teeth in anger. "Even though we have no evidence, Alonso daring to act while Lance is unconscious makes me sure he's involved in Lance's attack. I don't care what methods you use; you must teach Explority Group a harsh lesson. The rest can wait until Lance wakes up and deals with it himself."
As a mother, even though she wished Explority Group would disappear, she knew that Lance would prefer to deal with his enemies personally.
Logan naturally agreed.
That day, after arriving at the company, he instructed his secretary to seize Explority Group's resources.
In just half a day, Explority Group lost several projects worth billions of dollars.
Alonso was informed by his assistant but didn't take it seriously.
"Let them take it. In a few days, we'll see if they can still be so arrogant!"
In his view, the current losses were temporary. Once Lance was gone, he would eventually take everything back from Mercer Group, and even more.
But before that, he couldn't let his father know about this.
So he sternly warned his assistant, "Make sure everyone in the company keeps their mouths shut. If I find out anyone has told my father about this, they won't get away with it."
However, two days passed with no bad news about Lance.
This made Alonso, who had been waiting for good news from Bella, restless.
The reason was simple: Mercer Group's suppression of Explority Group over the past two days was becoming hard to conceal.
"Damn it, could that woman have backed out at the last minute?"
Alonso pounded the table in frustration.
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
Unable to contain himself, he took out his phone and called Bella.
Bella wasn't surprised to receive his call.
She answered calmly and heard Alonso's angry voice on the other end.
"What are you doing? Why haven't you acted after two days? Did you back out?"
"I did back out. I must have been out of my mind to cooperate with you. Do you know how heavily guarded is around Lance? If I drugged him, I'd be caught immediately. Besides, Lance will wake up in three days. Alonso, if I were you, I'd stop now because you can't beat Lance!"
Her words were undoubtedly provoking Alonso against Lance.
Of course, Bella did this on purpose.
As expected, Alonso lost his temper. "Ha! I'll show you who's really powerful!"
With that, he hung up the phone.
But thinking about what Bella had said on the phone made him furious. He dialed another number with bloodshot eyes. "Didn't you say your toxin was incurable? Why does Lance still have a chance?"
