On the way back, Samantha couldn't help but ask Bella about what had happened at the hospital.
"Why did you make me say that earlier?"
Hearing this, the two little ones also looked over curiously.
Bella gave a bitter smile. "I'll explain everything once we get back and see Dr. Deanna."
Samantha saw her expression and felt a sense of unease, but she didn't press further.
At the villa, Deanna had already taken a nap.
She was feeling quite refreshed as she sat in the living room, preparing the herbs needed for Lance's treatment.
When she heard the sound of a car horn outside, she knew it must be Samantha and the kids returning from the hospital.
She stood up, wiped the herb residue from her hands, and was about to go out to greet them when she froze in place, staring in astonishment at the four people entering the living room.
Not far away, Bella was walking in with Samantha, with the two little ones by her side.
The scene made Deanna momentarily breathless and uneasy.
The two little ones didn't notice Deanna's reaction and ran over cheerfully when they saw her.
"Mommy, we're back."
"Uncle Xavier said that Uncle Lance's condition has improved a lot, and he really appreciates you," they spoke in unison.
Deanna forced a smile and responded perfunctorily, "Really?"
She absentmindedly looked at Bella.
To her surprise, Bella greeted her as if nothing had happened.
"Miss Jones, nice to see you again."
"Miss Cody," Deanna replied with a nod, pursing her lips.
Samantha was a bit surprised by their interaction but was more concerned about another matter.
"Bella, you said in the car that you would explain what happened at the hospital once we saw Dr. Deanna. Now that we're here, can you tell us what happened?"
"What happened?" Deanna asked, frowning as she looked over.
Seeing this, a calculating glint flashed in Bella's eyes as she said, "Something did happen. Someone wants to harm Lance."
"Who?"
Samantha's voice rose sharply as she demanded, "Who wants to harm our Lance?!"
Deanna didn't speak but looked at Bella with concern.
The two little ones also looked over with worry and anger. "Uncle Lance is so good; how could anyone want to harm him? It's unforgivable!"
Bella was momentarily taken aback by their words.
She glanced at Deanna without being noticed, wondering if Deanna had put everything on the table with Lance yet. No, Lance had known he was the father of the children. From the current situation, Deanna probably hadn't told the truth to their two children.
A gleam flashed in Bella's eyes, but she pretended to be serious as she spoke. "Samantha, do you remember Alonso, who has been opposing Lance all these years?"
"You mean Alonso sent someone to attack Lance?"
Samantha immediately thought of the mastermind behind the recent attack.
Although Lone Wolf had been captured, he hadn't confessed anything.
Bella shook her head. "I don't know if Alonso is behind this attack on Lance, but before I came to see Lance this time, Alonso contacted me. He wanted me to cooperate with him and find an opportunity to put this packet of medicine into Lance's medication." As she spoke, she took out a bottle of medicine from her bag and placed it on the coffee table.
Samantha's face immediately darkened, her brows furrowing deeply.
At the same time, she couldn't understand something.
"Why would Alonso seek your cooperation?"
"Probably because he thought I would be resentful for not getting Lance and would want to sabotage his relationship with Dr. Deanna."
Bella showed a bitter expression as she spoke.
Seeing this, Deanna also frowned deeply. She looked at Bella and felt something was off. But what exactly was wrong? She couldn't pinpoint it.
At this moment, Bella continued, "Although I sometimes feel quite jealous of Dr. Deanna and can't help but use some small tricks, I know my limits. Especially when it comes to harming others and breaking the law, I can't do it. So I told you about this. You must take precautions. If there's no news from me for a long time, Alonso will surely know I haven't acted. By then, he will find another way to deal with Lance."
"He dares!" Samantha immediately shouted angrily.
Deanna, however, felt that Alonso wouldn't hesitate to do anything.
She pondered for a moment and said, "I think Miss Cody is right. We must be cautious no matter what. Although Mr. Mercer's condition has improved slightly, it's still very bad. He's at a critical point. If someone triggers his old ailments, adding new injuries to old ones, no one could save him."
"So according to Dr. Deanna's suggestion, should we bring Lance back from the hospital?"
Samantha hesitated as she looked over.
Deanna shook her head. "No, Mr. Mercer still needs some equipment from the hospital, and his body can't withstand being moved... If necessary, we should take the initiative and set a trap to catch him."
