Chapter 184 That Woman is Her

Lance was stunned by Deanna's words.

A flash of surprise crossed his eyes, but he asked calmly, "May I ask why you are looking for this person?"

"I..."

Deanna hesitated.

After a few seconds of thought, she decided to speak.

Given Lance's capabilities, if he agreed to help, he could easily uncover what happened years ago.

"I believe Mr. Mercer has investigated me and knows about my past. Five years ago, I was set up and slept with a guest who lived in that suite. It led to my pregnancy. Later I gave birth to Chloe and Gregory. As they grow up, their desire for a father is getting stronger, so I want to find their biological father."

"Their biological father? Are you sure about what you just said?"

Lance was once again taken aback, his expression very strange.

Seeing this, Deanna was puzzled, "Mr. Mercer, what's wrong?"

Meeting her confused gaze, Lance quickly composed himself.

"Nothing."

Though he said that, his mind was in turmoil.

Carey Hotel was indeed the only six-star hotel under Mercer Group.

And the presidential suite number 8888 in that hotel had always been his exclusive room, where only he stayed.

Moreover, he clearly remembered the date Deanna mentioned.

Five years ago, Lance had been drugged and set up.

It was the only time in his life he had fallen into such a trap. As a result, he couldn't forget that incident.

At the time, he had little memory of it and thought the encounter with the woman was just a dream.

But now, hearing Deanna mention it, he couldn't remain calm.

Could it be that night wasn't a dream?

Thinking this, Lance recalled many details.

He remembered waking up the next morning to find a bloodstain on the bed.

His face had turned very grim then, and he had questioned Xavier.

"What happened last night? Why was there a woman in my room?"

"What woman?"

Xavier had been completely baffled by the question but quickly explained that no woman had been arranged.

Hearing this, Lance frowned and was about to ask about the bloodstain when his assistant's exclamation reached his ears again.

"Mr. Mercer, you're injured."

Xavier pointed at Lance's back and muttered, "But why does this wound look like a scratch? Did the president hurt himself last night because he was too uncomfortable?"

Despite saying this, Xavier immediately contacted a doctor.

Lance's doubts were dispelled by Xavier's words, thinking that perhaps the bloodstain on the bed was from him scratching his back the previous night.

With this in mind, Lance returned to the present and looked at Deanna with complex emotions.

If Deanna wasn't lying, then that woman that night was her?

As soon as this thought emerged, Lance couldn't stay calm.

At this moment, Deanna noticed something was off with him.

"Mr. Mercer, what's wrong? Your face suddenly looks terrible. Is it an old ailment acting up?"

She immediately stepped forward with concern and forcefully took Lance's wrist to check his pulse.

The butler nearby also showed a worried expression.

After checking his pulse for a while, Deanna let go of Lance with a sigh of relief and a smile. "You scared me just now. Other than being weak, there's nothing else wrong with you."

She finished speaking and looked at Lance with some confusion, unable to understand why his face had looked so bad earlier.

Could it be because of what she had just said?

It made sense; she was just a private doctor and had already troubled Lance with many things before. Now she was making such a request; it was indeed a bit much.

"Well, I was just saying. If it's inconvenient for you, it's okay."

"No, it won't," Lance answered calmly.

Deanna froze and hadn't yet reacted when she heard his deep voice again.

"I will have someone investigate this matter. However, because it happened so long ago, it might take some time."

As he spoke, Lance gave Deanna a deep look, his dark eyes filled with complex emotions.

Unfortunately, Deanna didn't notice.

All her attention was on Lance agreeing to her request. She was overjoyed.

"Thank you, Mr. Mercer. I'm not in a hurry. Just notify me as soon as you have any news."

Deanna expressed her gratitude.

Lance nodded without saying more.

After lunch, they went down the mountain.

Lance first took Deanna home.

Upon arrival, Deanna got out of the car and bid farewell to Lance.

"Mr. Mercer, I'll head back now. Take care on your way and don't overwork yourself."

"I know."

Lance nodded and watched Deanna enter her apartment building before slowly looking away.

His eyes darkened as he instructed Xavier to drive coldly, "To Carey Hotel."

Xavier was momentarily stunned but executed the order without question and drove to Carey Hotel.
