When they arrived, the manager had received the message and was waiting at the door with the staff.
Seeing Lance step out of the car, he immediately approached. "President, what can I do for you?"
"I remember our hotel keeps surveillance records. Go and find the footage from July 24th, five years ago, on the floor where presidential suite No. 8888 is."
Lance stated his purpose directly and gave the order.
The manager was surprised but didn't dare to delay. He immediately instructed his subordinate to search for it.
Given the many years that had passed, it took some time.
Meanwhile, Xavier was puzzled by Mr. Mercer's sudden action.
Eventually, he couldn't contain his curiosity and asked, "Mr. Mercer, why did you suddenly think of retrieving the surveillance from that day? Is something wrong?"
"Do you remember what happened in this hotel five years ago?"
Lance glanced at him and spoke with a serious expression.
Xavier thought for a moment and realized what Mr. Mercer was referring to.
The only thing that could make Mr. Mercer react this way was the incident where he was set up that night.
Indeed, that was the case.
Lance continued in a deep voice, "That night, I seemed to have slept with a woman here, but I always thought it was a dream. Until today, Dr. Deanna came to me with a request to find her child's biological father. The information she provided pointed to this room."
He paused for a moment before continuing in a deep voice, "This room was only occupied by me."
"So Dr. Deanna was that woman from that night?"
Xavier's eyes widened in shock.
Lance didn't speak, but his expression made it clear.
Seeing the silent president, Xavier didn't know how to describe his inner turmoil.
Suddenly, he remembered something and cautiously said, "If that's the case, then the time when Dr. Deanna's reputation was ruined a few years ago also matches up. It was indeed the day after July 24th..."
At this point, Xavier thought of something even more shocking and stammered as he looked at Mr. Mercer.
If what Dr. Deanna said was true, then those two children would be Mr. Mercer's kids?
He couldn't help but mutter, "No, it can't be such a coincidence, right?"
Lance knew what he was thinking and pressed his lips together without speaking.
After a while, seeing no news from the hotel yet, he frowned.
"Go check what's taking so long."
He urged Xavier.
Xavier nodded and went out.
Soon, he returned and respectfully said, "Mr. Mercer, the hotel manager said it would take some more time because it's been so long."
Hearing this, Lance frowned but said nothing. He started handling company matters on his laptop while waiting for the hotel's results.
After about an hour, the hotel manager nervously knocked and entered.
"Mr. Mercer."
"Did you find the footage?"
Lance looked up with an expressionless face that exerted immense pressure.
The hotel manager smiled apologetically and said, "Because it's been so long, the video surveillance has been lost."
"Lost?!"
Lance repeated, his face instantly darkening.
Xavier also frowned and reprimanded, "Are you sure it's lost? Did you search thoroughly?"
"Mr. Nelson, I've had people search three times and confirmed there's no video surveillance data from that day. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken so long." The hotel manager quickly defended himself.
Xavier said unhappily, "How could it be lost? I remember the hotel has a dedicated database for storing these videos."
"I don't know either."
The hotel manager was almost in tears.
Seeing this, Xavier knew he genuinely didn't know anything but still scolded him, "Regardless of what caused the video surveillance to be lost, it's your responsibility. You must investigate this matter thoroughly."
"Yes, I'll investigate immediately and report to the head office as soon as there's news."
The hotel manager wiped the sweat from his forehead and agreed.
Lance rubbed his aching temples and instructed, "Let him go out; I need some quiet."
Xavier nodded and dismissed the hotel manager.
"You can leave now. Be more careful in the future."
"Yes, yes!"
The hotel manager nodded quickly and then left.
Soon, only Lance and Xavier were left in the presidential suite.
Lance lowered his hand and said with a deep gaze, "Is there any other way to prove this?"
Although he didn't say it explicitly, Xavier understood his meaning.
After thinking for a moment, Xavier slowly spoke, "Besides video surveillance, there's another way to prove if Dr. Deanna is telling the truth."
"What way?"
Lance looked up at him.
Xavier replied honestly, "A DNA test. If Dr. Deanna is telling the truth, you just need to test yourself with one of the children. If there's a parent-child relationship, then she's the woman you slept with that night. This is the simplest and most direct method."
