Chapter 183 He Came for Her

Deanna stayed home for two days to recover, and her ankle finally healed.

The first thing she did after recovering was to visit the hilltop estate to check on the herbs.

She had been away for several days and was worried about the herbs on the mountain.

Fortunately, the people Lance had hired took good care of them.

Seeing the vibrant herbs in the field, Deanna breathed a sigh of relief and smiled.

The butler, standing beside her with a professional smile, asked with concern, "Dr. Deanna, are the herbs all right?"

"No problem at all. You've taken great care of them. Thank you."

Deanna sincerely expressed her gratitude.

She then walked to the tool shed, intending to get some tools for work.

Seeing her actions, the butler quickly stepped forward to stop her. "Dr. Deanna, what do you need? Just tell me, and I'll do it."

"I plan to trim some of the herb sprouts. You wouldn't know how to do it."

Deanna said as she walked towards the herb field.

Some herb sprouts were useless for medicinal purposes and needed to be trimmed in advance to maintain better potency.

The butler couldn't let Deanna do it herself.

He blocked her again, smiling apologetically. "Dr. Deanna, you can just instruct us on what to do. The young master has also instructed us to handle the herb field work. You only need to supervise."

Other workers nearby echoed his words.

"Yes, Dr. Deanna, you can rest while we handle the herbs. Just tell us how to do it, and we'll make sure it's done perfectly to your satisfaction."

"Dr. Deanna, please don't take this work from us."

Hearing this, Deanna couldn't insist any longer. She carefully explained how to handle the herbs to the workers.

As they gradually got the hang of it, Deanna stepped out of the herb field and began processing some herbs she had brought from home.

Under the sunlight, the garden was a busy scene with a harmonious atmosphere.

Time flew by quickly when busy.

Before she knew it, it was noon.

Deanna stopped her work and prepared to leave.

As she walked into the living room, she heard the butler's delighted voice ahead.

"Mr. Mercer, you're here. Dr. Deanna is inside handling herbs."

The butler followed Lance into the living room.

The man walked in against the light, his tall and slender figure adding an air of authority.

Deanna stared for a moment before snapping back to reality and asked in surprise, "Mr. Mercer, why are you here?"

"I heard you were here, so I came to check on your recovery."

Lance's straightforward answer left Deanna stunned.

He came for her...

An indescribable emotion spread through Deanna's heart.

She quickly composed herself and smiled lightly. "I'm fine now. As a doctor, I know how to recover quickly from such injuries. But thank you for your concern, Mr. Mercer."

"Good to hear."

Lance nodded and then changed the subject. "Have you eaten yet?"

Deanna shook her head. "Not yet. I was just about to go home for lunch."

Hearing this, Lance suggested, "If you haven't eaten yet, why not join me for lunch? Or do you have plans with your family?"

"No plans."

Deanna agreed to Lance's invitation.

After all, she had something she wanted to discuss with him.

The butler, hearing their conversation, sensibly went to the kitchen to instruct the chef to prepare more dishes.

Soon, lunch was ready.

The butler respectfully informed them, "Mr. Mercer, Dr. Deanna, lunch is served in the dining room."

"Got it."

Lance responded and invited Deanna to join him.

In the dining room, a long European-style table was set with a variety of sumptuous dishes.

Several dishes were among Deanna's favorites.

Seeing this, Deanna felt another wave of complex emotions.

During the meal, there was no strict rule against talking.

Lance initiated a conversation with Deanna, but she seemed distracted as she pondered how to ask Lance for help.

Unbeknownst to her, Lance had already noticed her distraction.

"Dr. Deanna, is something on your mind? If you don't mind sharing, you can tell me."

Lance asked proactively.

Deanna thought for a moment and decided there was no point in hesitating.

"I'd like to ask you for help with something."

"Oh? What is it?"

Lance raised an eyebrow and looked at her.

Deanna spoke directly. "The Carey Hotel is part of Mercer Group, right? I'd like Mr. Mercer's help in finding someone."

"Who? Do you have any information about him?"

Lance asked two more questions.

Deanna shook her head slightly. "I don't know who he is, but I remember his room number. Your hotel should have guest records."

She looked at Lance with hopeful eyes.

Lance frowned slightly and nodded. "We do have guest records. Tell me when he stayed and which room he occupied."

Upon hearing this, Deanna immediately provided the information she knew.

"It was around five years ago, on July 24th. He stayed in room 8888, the presidential suite."
