Assard Mountain Resort was a vacation destination that the Mercer family had spent years developing, and it was about to be completed.
This was no secret in Cloudmere.
Bella had originally planned that when the resort opened, Lance would definitely go there. At that time, she would ask Samantha for a ticket and take the opportunity to get closer to Lance at the resort.
But what she never expected was that Lance would go to the resort so early, and he even brought Deanna along!
"Why did he have to bring Deanna? Why?!"
Bella held her phone, frowning deeply, unable to understand. Or rather, she didn't dare to think too deeply about this suspicion...
It couldn't be that Lance would prefer someone who had a child with another man over her, right?
Although Bella thought this was impossible, she didn't want to remain passive any longer. No matter what, she had to find a way to stop Lance from getting close to that woman!
With this in mind, Bella put away her phone and went to find her mother.
"Mommy, are you asleep?"
She stood at the door and knocked.
After a while, Kelly's voice came from the room, "Come in, I'm not resting yet."
Hearing this, Bella pushed the door open and saw her mother sitting alone at the bedside.
"Is Dad not back yet?"
"Yes, he said he had a social engagement and would be back later."
Kelly briefly explained and then turned the conversation around, asking, "Is there something you need?"
Bella didn't hide her purpose and explained why she came.
"Mommy, I hope you can help me ask Samantha for a ticket to Assard Mountain Resort tomorrow."
"Got it. I'll arrange it tomorrow."
Kelly nodded in agreement without asking further why her daughter wanted the ticket because she knew Bella was doing it for Lance.
...
The next afternoon, in an elegantly decorated café.
Kelly and Samantha sat across from each other on the sofa, drinking coffee in a harmonious atmosphere. After some small talk, Kelly mentioned the purpose of their meeting.
"Samantha, I need a favor from you."
"What is it? Why so formal?"
Samantha looked surprised.
Kelly pretended to be embarrassed and said, "Bella has been longing to go to Assard Mountain Resort, so she asked me to get a ticket from you."
Hearing this, Samantha couldn't help but laugh. "Why ask for a ticket? That's too formal. Tell Bella she can go anytime she wants. I'll inform Lance."
"I told her the same thing, but that girl..."
Kelly sighed in feigned frustration.
Samantha asked curiously, "What's wrong with Bella?"
Seeing that her bait was taken, Kelly subtly smiled before speaking slowly. "It's just that she's so timid. She likes Lance but doesn't dare to take action and is afraid of upsetting him. So she asked me to meet you."
She paused for a moment and then added awkwardly, "I don't mean anything by this. It's just that I'm getting old and still worrying about her. If Bella likes Lance, she should boldly pursue him. Being so reserved, who knows when she'll succeed?"
Kelly's words were meant to test Samantha's attitude towards Bella pursuing Lance. However, Samantha didn't catch on and instead laughed, saying, "Girls should be reserved; it's more likable."
Kelly was momentarily speechless but quickly covered it up and agreed with Samantha's words. "You're right. Being reserved is good; girls should be gentle and quiet."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Kelly brought the topic back. "So, please get the ticket to Assard Mountain Resort for Bella. Thanks in advance for that."
"You don't have to thank me. It's just a small favor."
Samantha waved her hand nonchalantly.
Kelly was overjoyed and stayed for a while longer before finding an excuse to leave after about an hour.
After seeing Kelly off, Samantha didn't rush to leave. She sat in her original seat and took out her phone to call Lance.
Soon, a deep and cool male voice came through the phone.
"What's up?"
"Where are you now?" Samantha asked with a smile.
Lance replied truthfully, "At Assard Mountain Resort Hotel. Is there something you need?"
Unexpectedly, as soon as he finished speaking, his mother's surprised voice came through the phone.
"You're at Assard Mountain? Are you attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony? But you could have sent someone else for that. Why did you go so early?"
Lance briefly explained, "I'm here to rest for a couple of days."
Hearing this, Samantha didn't think much of it and showed some concern.
"Are you alone?"
"No, Dr. Deanna and Xavier are here too," Lance admitted without hesitation.
Even so, Samantha was even more surprised.
Xavier was understandable as Lance's personal assistant needed to be with him at all times. But why was Deanna also with Lance?
