Samantha frowned and questioned, "Why is that doctor with you too?"
At the same time, she felt uneasy.
Was Lance getting too close to Dr. Deanna?
As she pondered this, she realized something was off.
No wonder Kelly came to ask for a ticket today. The Cody family must have known about this all along.
At that moment, Bella's scheme was completely seen through by Samantha.
Of course, she noticed that Bella had some cunning plans.
But to her, it was of no consequence.
After all, people of their status couldn't afford to be too naive.
More importantly, she needed to know if her son was getting too close to that private doctor.
"Lance, be honest with me. What's going on between you and Dr. Deanna?"
Lance's eyes flickered when he heard this.
He knew his mother had misunderstood something but replied calmly, "Dr. Deanna just suggested that soaking in hot springs would be good for my health. To be safe, I thought it best to bring her along."
Despite hearing this, Samantha remained skeptical and warned her son.
"I don't care what your reasons are. You need to remember your status and not do anything inappropriate with Dr. Deanna."
Lance frowned immediately and replied with a hint of irritation, "Mom, I know what I'm doing. You don't need to keep reminding me."
Samantha sensed her son's displeasure and decided to drop the subject.
"Alright, I won't say any more. How are you feeling?"
She changed the topic, though her mind was elsewhere.
Even though her son assured her he knew what he was doing, she couldn't ignore the possibility that some people might have ulterior motives. She decided she would find an opportunity to meet Dr. Deanna herself.
Deanna was unaware of these matters.
Due to her injury, she stayed another day at the resort hotel and couldn't go anywhere.
The two little ones stayed in the room with her, watching TV.
However, she could tell they wanted to go out and play but were staying in to keep her company.
This thought warmed Deanna's heart, making her feel both touched and sorry for the sensible children.
"Gregory, Chloe, if you want to go out and play, you can. You don't have to stay in the room with Mommy."
Deanna tried to encourage the children to go out for a bit.
But they refused, "We played enough yesterday. There's nothing much to do outside. Mommy, we'll stay here with you. Otherwise, you'll be bored alone."
As they spoke, the two little ones hugged Deanna, acting cute and playful.
Soon, the three of them were laughing and playing together.
At that moment, Lance knocked and walked in.
Seeing the cheerful trio, his previously stern expression softened immediately.
"What are you talking about that's making you so happy?"
"Uncle, you're done with work!"
Chloe ran up to Lance joyfully.
Lance smiled and nodded, then looked at Deanna's still slightly swollen ankle with concern. "How are you feeling today?"
"Much better. It's not as swollen as yesterday."
Deanna smiled back at him and suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. "Mr. Mercer, are you free now?"
Lance raised an eyebrow and replied, "Yes, I'm free. Why do you ask?"
"I was wondering if you could take the kids out for a while. They've been staying in the room with me all day and must be bored."
Deanna shared her thoughts.
Lance didn't refuse.
He liked these sensible children very much.
However, the two little ones looked conflicted upon hearing this.
They wanted to play with Uncle Lance but were also worried about leaving Mommy alone in the room.
Seeing their furrowed brows, Deanna couldn't help but laugh and feel touched.
"Alright, stop worrying. Go out and play with Uncle Lance. Mommy will take a nap."
Hearing this, the two little ones finally stopped hesitating.
Before leaving, they made sure everything Deanna might need was within reach.
"Mommy, I charged your phone and put your iPad next to you. I also washed some fruit. If you wake up before we come back, you can watch TV and eat some fruit."
Gregory stood by the bed like a little adult, carefully instructing Deanna.
Watching this, Lance suddenly understood why Xavier said he was envious yesterday.
These two kids were simply too lovable.
As they left the room, Lance looked down and asked the two little ones softly, "Where do you want to go play?"
"We don't know either. Do you have any fun places to recommend, Uncle?"
Chloe looked up at Lance with sparkling eyes.
Gregory didn't speak but his expression conveyed the same sentiment.
