"Are you Miss Jones?"
As soon as the waiter saw Deanna, he immediately greeted her.
Deanna nodded while holding the hands of two little kids. "Yes, that's me."
"Mr. Landon is already inside. Please follow me."
With the waiter leading the way, the three of them walked directly into the private room.
As soon as they saw Landon, the two little ones ran over on their short legs and hugged him.
Their soft voices rang out.
"Uncle, where have you been all this time?"
"My brother and I missed you!"
"Uncle, Mom said you've been very busy. Did you miss us?"
The sweet words from the two little ones made Landon beam with joy.
Moreover, the kids were naturally adorable, making them even more endearing.
Landon reached out and ruffled their small heads.
"Of course, I missed you!"
Then he pulled out several gift boxes from behind him. Only then did they notice that there were a dozen more gift boxes behind him.
"Look, what do we have here?"
Following his gaze, they saw a variety of toys.
Lego sets, puzzles, figurines, dolls-everything you could think of.
It made one feel like Landon had bought all items from a toy store.
Seeing this, Deanna couldn't help but laugh. "Isn't this a bit too much?"
The kids didn't need so many toys, and there was hardly any space left at home.
Landon shook his head dismissively. "Too much? I don't think it's enough."
"This time I came in a hurry and couldn't buy everything. Next time, I'll bring more for them!"
The two little ones were even more excited and quickly said, "Thank you, Uncle!"
"Uncle, you're so good to us."
Deanna shook her head. These two little ones were really something.
She called out, "Alright, calm down. Let's order some food first."
Landon nodded. "Sure, the two kids just got out of school and must be hungry. Let me see what's good to eat."
After ordering, the waiter quickly brought the dishes to the table.
During the meal, Deanna and Landon chatted back and forth.
Suddenly, Landon mentioned, "I've made some progress on that lawyer you asked me to look into."
"A few days ago, I found out that the lawyer retired years ago and moved abroad. I don't have all the details yet, but I've asked someone to find him as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Deanna felt a bit disappointed.
Moving abroad meant it could take forever to find him.
"Don't worry. I've used all my connections. We'll definitely find him!" Seeing Deanna's disappointment, Landon added.
Deanna nodded and forced a smile. "Okay."
She comforted herself internally. After all, many years had passed, and much had changed.
And now that he had moved abroad, the search area was even larger.
She hadn't expected to find him quickly and didn't have high hopes.
Thinking this, she looked at Landon again.
"It's okay. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Even if we can't find him, it's not a big deal."
Landon nodded. "Don't worry. I understand. I'll do my best."
"Don't be anxious. As they say, what's yours will always be yours. No matter how much the Jones family tries to take it, they can't."
Deanna nodded and softly replied, "Alright, let's eat now."
Mentioning the Jones family made Deanna visibly upset.
She changed the subject to avoid talking about those unpleasant people and matters. "This dish is good; you should try it."
Suddenly, Deanna pointed to a dish in front of her and said to Landon.
Landon nodded. "I'll give it a try."
They continued chatting casually about their current lives.
Suddenly, Landon seemed to remember something and asked Deanna, "By the way, what's your relationship with Lance?"
Last time he saw them together, they seemed quite familiar and got along well.
He blinked his eyes teasingly. "Could it be that you two are..."
Before Landon could finish his sentence, Deanna interrupted him.
"No!"
"Mr. Mercer and I don't have that kind of relationship."
Landon teased even more. "I didn't even say what kind of relationship I meant. How do you know?"
Deanna couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Stop guessing!"
"I'm just treating Mr. Mercer's illness. We only have a doctor-patient relationship."
Landon let out a long "Oh," clearly not convinced but raised his eyebrows and said nothing more.
At this moment, not far away.
Bella was walking down the hallway and happened to see Deanna and Landon through the private room door.
She squinted her eyes in surprise.
What a small world?
Even coming out for a meal, she could run into them...
