Chapter 144 Missing Them

Lance nodded. "It's quite useful." He added, "Ever since I started using Dr. Deanna's medicine, my health has significantly improved. Dr. Deanna is indeed very capable."

His words were full of admiration for Deanna.

Samantha nodded, Bella's words flashing through her mind.

After hesitating for a moment, she spoke up. "Lance, I've heard about what Bella has done. She was indeed wrong, and I've talked to her about it. She can't be so impulsive in the future."

"But no matter what, Bella did it because she likes you so much. You shouldn't hold it against her..."

Samantha tried to comfort him. After all, she liked Bella very much.

As a daughter-in-law, Bella was indeed a good choice.

But Lance didn't think so.

Hearing his mother's words, he frowned and his expression turned somewhat unpleasant.

"Mom, did Bella ask you to come?"

He suddenly realized why his mother had come over so unexpectedly.

Samantha didn't deny it and continued, "Bella is quite nice and usually very obedient."

"This time, she acted impulsively because she likes you. I've already talked to her, and she knows she was wrong. Let's leave it at that and not dwell on it..."

Before Samantha could finish, Lance interrupted her.

"Mom, please stop making excuses for her."

Lance's face was stern and cold.

"You know my principles over the years. Bella's actions this time crossed my line, and that's something I absolutely cannot tolerate."

"Even if it's under the guise of liking me, it's unforgivable."

Lance's words were cold and merciless.

Seeing this, Samantha felt helpless.

She knew Lance's stubbornness. Once he made up his mind, no one could change it.

It seemed Bella had really angered him this time!

Samantha sighed. "Is there no room for negotiation on this matter?"

Lance responded with a light hum. "Mom, please don't get involved in this matter anymore."

With that, Samantha had nothing more to say and just nodded.

Lance had always had his principles.

This time, Bella had crossed them.

If Lance had made up his mind, there was nothing she could do as his mother.

"Alright, I won't interfere anymore."

After dinner, Xavier drove Samantha back to Mercer Manor.

On the way, Samantha felt uneasy and couldn't help but remind him.

"Xavier, you've been by Lance's side for so long. You know what kind of person he is."

"I don't know the details between him and Dr. Deanna, but you must remind him that marriage is not a game. He can't be reckless. No matter what, try to advise him."

Although Lance said they were just friends, Samantha could sense that Lance felt differently about Deanna.

Xavier nodded in agreement. "Madam, don't worry. I'll remind Mr. Mercer."

Despite his words, Xavier had other thoughts.

His reminders wouldn't make a difference.

Once Mr. Mercer decided on something, no one could change his mind.

Moreover, he was just an assistant. If he said too much, it would be overstepping his bounds.

He feared that no matter how much he said, it wouldn't be as effective as a single word from Dr. Deanna...

Snapping out of his thoughts, Xavier continued driving.

...

Meanwhile, Deanna's life continued as usual without any changes.

Early the next morning, after dropping the two little ones off at kindergarten, Deanna's phone suddenly rang.

Seeing that it was Landon calling, she answered without hesitation.

"Hello."

Landon's voice came through. "I'm back. Let's have dinner tonight?"

Deanna agreed. "Sure."

Since their last meeting, she hadn't seen Landon for quite some time.

"By the way, bring the little ones too. I've been wanting to see them but haven't had the chance."

Deanna couldn't help but laugh. "Alright."

Suddenly remembering something, she asked, "By the way, how's the information on that lawyer coming along?"

Landon's expression turned serious at the mention of this. He sighed. "I'll explain everything in detail tonight. It's too complicated to discuss over the phone."

"Okay," Deanna replied.

In the evening, after picking up the little ones from kindergarten, Deanna took them to the address Landon had given her.

Landon had chosen a Western restaurant. As soon as they walked in, they were captivated by its luxurious decor.
