"Although I don't mind, I still want to remind you both that your son needs better discipline. If something like this happens again and the other party isn't as understanding, it could bring immeasurable trouble to the Poole family."
Teasing Dayton like this, Lance seemed to understand Deanna's amusement. Especially when he saw Dayton's expressive face, Lance found it particularly interesting.
Mr. and Mrs. Poole were unaware of Lance's thoughts. After hearing Lance's words, their expressions turned serious. Mrs. Poole, in particular, lost her temper, grabbed Dayton, and yanked his ear hard.
"You little brat, you're getting more and more out of line. How dare you lie about something like this? If Mr. Mercer and Miss Deanna weren't so forgiving, do you know what would have happened to you?!"
"Mom, take it easy, it hurts! And Mr. Mercer and Miss Deanna are still here, don't embarrass me, please!"
Dayton cried out in pain. Deanna and Lance couldn't help but laugh at the scene.
Frankie then said, "Serves you right. You should be grateful Mr. Mercer and Miss Deanna are here; otherwise, I'd join your mom in teaching you a lesson."
Even though Lance didn't mind, they couldn't let it go without any consequence. Dayton was thoroughly chastised.
Seeing Dayton finally behaving, Deanna smiled lightly. "Take Mrs. Poole to Cloudmere sometime."
"Sure, we'll definitely go when we have time."
Mrs. Poole nodded with a smile but felt a bit regretful inside. It was rare to meet someone who could control their son, but she was someone else's fiancée. So frustrating! They still needed to give their foolish son a good beating.
That afternoon, Deanna followed Lance back to Cloudmere. When they got off the plane, Sam was very happy to see Deanna safe and sound.
"Missus, you're finally back."
"Hello," Deanna greeted him with a smile.
Sam was stunned and instinctively looked at Mr. Mercer as if asking what was going on.
Lance didn't hide anything and said, holding Deanna's hand, "Deanna has amnesia and temporarily doesn't remember anything from before."
"Amnesia!"
Sam looked at Deanna in surprise.
Deanna nodded at him and then followed Lance into the living room. Once inside, Deanna looked around and found that while she didn't recognize the surroundings, they felt familiar.
"Do you remember anything seeing this?" Lance asked, looking at Deanna beside him.
Deanna withdrew her gaze and shook her head gently. "No, it just feels familiar."
Hearing this, Lance felt disappointed but quickly composed himself and said encouragingly, "It's okay; it'll get better over time. I'll take you to your room to rest. Later, we'll go to the hospital to see your grandma; she's waiting for you. Gregory and Chloe will be very happy to see you too."
Deanna didn't refuse. She was indeed tired from the journey.
After resting for two hours, Deanna had dinner with Lance and then headed to the hospital.
At the hospital, Old Ashley had been eagerly waiting since she knew Lance was picking up Deanna today. As a result, she seemed a bit distracted while spending time with the two little ones in the evening.
"Great-grandma, what's wrong?"
"Great-grandma, are you worried about Mommy? Daddy said he would find Mommy; don't worry too much; it's not good for your health."
Little Gregory advised Old Ashley like a small adult.
Chloe also nodded vigorously in agreement. "Great-grandma, don't think too much; Mommy will be fine."
Hearing their childish voices melted Old Ashley's heart. She reached out to stroke their heads but didn't explain because she wasn't sure if Lance could bring her granddaughter back. If she said something and Lance failed, it would only disappoint the little ones.
Samantha understood the old lady's intentions and didn't say anything either.
Because of this, the two little ones were stunned when they suddenly saw their mommy appear. It took them several seconds to react.
"Mommy!"
Chloe exclaimed excitedly and ran towards Deanna. Gregory followed closely behind.
The force of their collision made Deanna take two steps back. Fortunately, Lance caught her in time and advised the two little ones, "Gregory and Chloe, I know you're happy to see Mommy, but she's just recovered and has a baby in her belly. You need to be careful."
Hearing this, the two little ones immediately changed their expressions and looked at Deanna with concern.
"Mommy, we didn't mean to bump into you; we were just too excited."
"Sorry, baby; next time brother and sister won't bump into you again."
Seeing their obedient looks, Deanna felt a softness in her heart despite the initial unfamiliarity. "I'm fine; don't listen to your daddy's nonsense."
Hearing this, the two little ones smiled sweetly but soon had tears in their eyes again.
