Hearing the man's words, Deanna felt a pang in her heart and instinctively said, "Don't do that next time, it's bad for your health."
"I know, I just don't want to be apart from you."
Lance looked at her with deep affection, his smile growing wider.
Clearly, even though Deanna had lost her memory, she hadn't forgotten to care about his well-being.
Deanna found herself staring at Lance's smile. Despite his current haggard appearance, it did nothing to diminish his looks; if anything, it added a kind of fragile beauty.
Lance noticed her gaze and his eyes grew even more tender. He spoke softly, "Since you're awake, shall we get up?"
As he spoke, he moved forward to help Deanna out of bed.
Deanna snapped out of her daze, her cheeks flushing red but quickly regaining her composure. After all, this was her fiancé, the man she loved. It was normal for her to be captivated by him. Who could blame her when he was so handsome?
Unbeknownst to her, every expression she made was noticed by Lance, who felt that Deanna had become more lively since losing her memory.
Soon, the two of them washed up and went downstairs.
Downstairs, Jack had already prepared breakfast. Dayton was also up.
Normally, this wasn't the time he would be awake, but with Lance around, he couldn't sleep soundly.
At the dining table, he looked at the affectionate couple with some frustration. Seeing them show PDA so early in the morning?
And how did they become so familiar with each other overnight when one had lost their memory and the other had just found her last night?
"So now that you've found her, when do you plan to leave?" Dayton wanted to get rid of them quickly to avoid running into his parents and having to explain everything.
He planned to tell his parents that he and Deanna had broken up.
Little did he know that his thoughts were completely transparent to Deanna and Lance.
Deanna took a sip of the milk Lance handed her and smiled sweetly. "We're not in a hurry. We haven't thanked Mr. and Mrs. Poole yet. After we do that, we'll leave. You're welcome to visit Cloudmere anytime."
Dayton was momentarily speechless. He looked at Deanna incredulously and ground his teeth. "You're repaying kindness with enmity!"
Deanna didn't deny it. "You locked me up for so long. I'm a person who holds grudges. But don't worry, I won't forget to repay kindness either."
Upon hearing this, Dayton's expression turned even more miserable.
"Do you have to be so harsh? I only kept you from contacting the outside world but took good care of you."
"You're lucky you took good care of her. Otherwise, I wouldn't just inform your parents; I'd deal with you myself," Lance suddenly said.
Seeing Lance's serious expression, Dayton felt a pang of regret. Why hadn't he just rescued her and taken her to Lance for a reward instead of trying to watch a joke? Now he'd dug his own grave.
Later, after breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Poole were brought over by Xavier.
Seeing the scene in the living room, they were momentarily stunned. Why was Lance sitting with their daughter-in-law? And why did their son look like he was holding back anger?
"Mr. Mercer, what is going on here?" Frankie asked first.
Mrs. Poole didn't waste time either. While her husband spoke, she walked over to her son and asked quietly, "What's going on? Why is Lance here? Did you bother him again? And why is Kamila sitting with him?"
This barrage of questions made Dayton feel guilty. Especially when he heard Lance start explaining what had happened; he instinctively wanted to run away.
But as soon as he moved, his mother grabbed his wrist tightly and glared at him. "Sit down! You made a mistake and now you want to run?"
Mrs. Poole then turned to Lance and said apologetically, "Mr. Mercer, please continue."
Lance nodded and continued recounting Dayton's actions.
"I understand that your son didn't mean any harm. He was just being childish and wanted revenge for something that embarrassed him years ago. So I don't plan to pursue this matter further. After all, your son saved my fiancée and our child and took good care of them."
Mr. and Mrs. Poole didn't know how to feel at this moment. They had thought their son had finally matured and solved his lifelong problem on his own, allowing them to become grandparents soon. But it turned out it was all a lie.
And worse yet, the woman their son had hidden was Lance's fiancée. If not for the fact that their son had saved her, they knew Mr. Mercer wouldn't let this go easily.
Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Poole's changing expressions, Lance knew what they were thinking. He glanced at the restless Dayton and a mischievous smile appeared on his lips.
