Chapter 1128: Can I Hug You?

"Yes, I have amnesia. They told me you are my fiancé."

Deanna nodded calmly and then invited, "Since you came to find me, come in. Jack, please take them to the living room. I'll be down shortly after I tidy up."

"Yes, Miss Deanna."

Jack responded and gestured for them to follow.

In less than five minutes, everyone was seated in the living room.

Deanna carefully observed Lance.

Earlier, without the lights, she had already felt this man was extraordinary. Now, upon closer inspection, she found his features exactly to her liking.

Despite her infatuation, Deanna remained composed on the surface. "Can you introduce yourself and explain what happened to me? Why was I shot and thrown into the sea while pregnant?"

"Of course."

Lance suppressed his urge to embrace her tightly and began recounting the events of the past month in a gentle voice.

Xavier stood nearby, curiously observing his Missus and feeling a bit emotional.

Such a dramatic case of amnesia had befallen Mr. Mercer and Missus.

"In addition to being my fiancée, we have two children together. You also have a grandmother who fell ill due to your disappearance. But once you return, everything will get better, so don't worry."

Lance reassured Deanna as he finished speaking.

Deanna nodded slightly.

Although she had no memory of the things this man spoke of, the emotions stirring within her told her he was likely telling the truth.

However, one question puzzled her.

"Why do we have two children, plus the one I'm carrying, making it three children, yet we are still just engaged?"

"It's a long story, but if you want to know, I'll give you the short version."

Lance wasn't surprised by Deanna's question and began explaining from when they first met.

Deanna listened intently and learned that if not for her accident, they would have been married half a month ago.

Looking at the quiet woman beside him, Lance's voice grew hoarse as he asked, "Do you have any other questions?"

"No."

Deanna shook her head.

Lance stared at her intently, his dark eyes seemingly drawing her in. He asked in a trembling voice, "Then can I hug you?"

Seeing the anticipation and nervousness in his eyes, Deanna found herself unable to refuse.

She nodded lightly.

In the next moment, she saw the tall man stride over and pull her into a tight embrace.

She heard his choked voice by her ear, "It's so good that you're still alive."

With those words, Deanna felt a sudden wetness on her neck and shoulder.

"You're crying."

She said softly, her hands hovering awkwardly in the air.

After hesitating for two seconds, she slowly hugged him back and gently patted his back. "Don't cry. I'm fine."

Xavier was also shocked.

Since he had been with Lance, he had never seen Mr. Mercer shed a single tear.

Indeed, Mr. Mercer deeply loved Missus.

After a while, Lance regained his composure and released Deanna.

His face showed no tears except for slightly reddened eyes.

In a hoarse voice, he said, "It's late today. Let's go home tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay."

Deanna did not refuse.

Seeing this, Lance smiled for the first time in half a month. "Then I'll help you back to your room to rest. I'll stay until you fall asleep before I leave."

Although he wanted to stay with Deanna,

he could tell she still felt unfamiliar with him.

So he didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

Seeing his cautious expression, Deanna couldn't bring herself to refuse.

Just as they were about to go upstairs, they heard the sound of a car engine from the yard again.

The next second, Dayton's displeased voice rang out, "This is my house. Who are you people? Why won't you let me in?!"

"It seems rest will have to wait."

Deanna stopped and smiled at Lance. "The person outside should be one of yours. Let them in."

Lance nodded and signaled Xavier while thinking differently inside.

From Deanna's expression and tone earlier, he sensed she had a different attitude toward the man outside.

Deanna didn't notice Lance's change. She watched Dayton rush in from outside and teased him, "I thought you might not dare to come until tomorrow."

"Why wouldn't I dare?"

Dayton snorted and glanced at Lance standing beside her. He couldn't help but grimace. "Since your fiancé is here, you should leave now."

Deanna raised an eyebrow and looked between him and Lance. She teased him deliberately, "You're rushing us off so quickly. Didn't you say you wanted to see a joke? Now that the real person is here, aren't you going to laugh?"
