Jessica dialed the number as soon as she got the contact information.
The call connected quickly.
"Hello."
A polite and distant voice came through the phone.
Jessica politely inquired, "Is this Mr. Mercer?"
"Sorry, I'm not Mr. Mercer, but I am his assistant. You can tell me who you are and what you need from Mr. Mercer, and I will relay the message," Xavier replied formally.
Jessica was a bit surprised but quickly understood. Lance was not someone they could easily reach; getting the number of his assistant was already quite good.
Lost in thought for a moment, Jessica explained her purpose for calling, "My friend saved Mr. Mercer's fiancée."
"Wait, what did you just say?" Xavier's voice sounded excited over the phone.
Jessica paused and then repeated, "My friend saved Mr. Mercer's fiancée. Because Miss Deanna's situation is a bit special and my friend has some past grievances with Mr. Mercer, he didn't contact Mr. Mercer immediately. When can Mr. Mercer come to pick her up?"
Upon hearing this, Xavier quickly said, "I'll go find Mr. Mercer right now. Don't hang up!"
He grabbed his car keys and headed to the hospital to find Mr. Mercer.
Jessica did not hang up and waited quietly.
After about ten minutes, she heard a slightly excited voice on the phone again.
"This is Lance. Where is my fiancée?"
"Mr. Mercer, Miss Deanna is at my friend's house in Sunhull. Do you remember Dayton, who used to pester you for races seven years ago?"
"I remember him," Lance said in a low voice, his memory always sharp.
Hearing this, Jessica carefully chose her words, "My friend is Dayton. Please don't hold any grudges against him; he's just childish. Also, Miss Deanna and the child have been well taken care of."
To be honest, Lance was indeed angry, but they had genuinely saved his fiancée and child.
His eyes darkened slightly. "Tell me the exact address. I'll come over now. We'll talk in person."
"Alright."
Jessica gave Dayton's villa address honestly.
After hanging up, Lance immediately had Xavier prepare a helicopter.
Without waiting for Old Ashley to ask, he said proactively, "We've got news about Deanna. Grandma, I'll have my mother come take care of you while I go get Deanna back."
"That's wonderful news! Go ahead, but be careful. No need to call Samantha; just arrange for a caregiver for me," Old Ashley waved her hand, not wanting Lance to trouble Samantha.
Lance nodded.
After arranging everything for Old Ashley, he and Xavier boarded the helicopter.
On the way, Xavier couldn't help but sigh, "No wonder we couldn't find Missus abroad; she was brought back to the country and was so close to us all along."
Lance remained silent but felt regretful inside. He had always thought Deanna was either abroad or in Eula's hands; he never expected he was wrong on both counts.
However, he did not intend to let Eula off the hook. Although he had no concrete evidence, he was certain Eula was behind these events. He needed to deal with Eula; otherwise, Deanna wouldn't be safe even if she returned.
Xavier's puzzled voice broke his thoughts again.
"It's strange though; if Missus was back in the country, with her capabilities, she would have found a way to notify us immediately even if she was being watched. Why didn't she contact us? Why did it take so long for Dayton's friend to inform us?"
"Maybe her physical condition didn't allow it," Lance recalled how Deanna had been shot several times by Bella when she jumped into the sea.
Xavier thought it over and agreed it was likely, falling silent afterward.
After about an hour, the helicopter finally arrived above the villa where Deanna was staying.
The loud noise of the rotors woke Jack and Deanna from their rest inside the villa.
Jack hurriedly put on a coat and went to the garden, where he saw Lance and Xavier skillfully jumping out of the helicopter.
"Who are you?" Jack questioned.
"We're here to pick someone up," Lance replied urgently.
At this moment, a clear female voice came from above them.
Deanna tilted her head, looking at the strong and exceptionally handsome man in the garden. "Are you here for me?"
Lance and Xavier immediately looked up upon hearing her voice.
"Missus, we finally found you," Xavier said excitedly.
Lance noticed Deanna's confused expression and frowned deeply.
The next second, he heard words that made his heart ache.
"So, you're my fiancé, Lance?"
"You don't remember me," Lance said with certainty.
