Later, the two arrived at the commercial street.
After getting out of the car, Dayton stood tensely beside Deanna, afraid that someone might recognize her.
Deanna pretended not to notice his unease and leisurely browsed the shops.
Unfortunately, none of these shops felt familiar to her.
Just as she was feeling disappointed, a baby store in the distance caught her eye.
"Kamila, what's wrong?"
Dayton noticed Deanna suddenly stop and looked over in a panic.
Did she see something familiar?
Deanna snapped back to reality, glanced at the worried Dayton, and said calmly, "Nothing, let's go over there."
With that, she walked towards the baby store.
Dayton quickly followed.
Inside the baby store, Dayton felt uncomfortable surrounded by pregnant women.
It was his first time in such a store.
Especially when he saw Deanna picking out baby clothes, he couldn't help but mutter, "The baby is less than two months old. Isn't it too early to buy things now?"
"It's not too early. Preparing now means everything will be ready when the baby arrives, avoiding any last-minute rush," a sales clerk said with a smile, though she looked at Dayton with some disdain.
To her, Dayton seemed unwilling to spend money on the baby.
Dayton noticed this and got angry. "Hey, what's with that look? Do you think I'm stingy?"
The clerk was startled, not expecting Dayton to suddenly lash out.
"Sir, you misunderstand. I didn't mean that."
"Didn't mean that? You were clearly looking at me with disdain!"
Dayton was furious.
The clerk's face turned red with embarrassment.
People around them started to look over.
Deanna frowned and said, "Enough, Dayton. Let her apologize, and we won't shop here."
Hearing this, Dayton snorted but didn't argue with Deanna.
He turned to the clerk and said, "Apologize!"
"I'm sorry, sir," the clerk apologized sincerely, her eyes red with tears.
Deanna felt no sympathy.
As a sales clerk, she shouldn't judge customers based on her own biases.
After leaving the store, Dayton was still unhappy.
He worried that Deanna might have misunderstood and quickly said, "I didn't mean not to buy things for you. It's just my first time being a father, and I don't know what to do."
"Why are you explaining? I didn't say anything," Deanna teased.
She then smiled slightly and said, "You mentioned it's your first time being a father. I read about a hospital offering courses for new dads. Why don't you sign up? It will help you avoid any chaos when the baby arrives."
"Sign up?" Dayton was stunned.
Deanna nodded. "The tuition isn't expensive, and the courses seem good. It's settled then. Three days from now, you'll come with me to the hospital and sign up."
Dayton hesitated. He felt that taking a course for new dads was pointless since the baby wasn't his and he didn't plan to keep Deanna around until the baby was born.
But saying no would conflict with his image of a devoted partner.
At that moment, he felt his revenge plan against Lance was more like a trap for himself.
Deanna didn't know his thoughts but guessed some of his feelings from his expression. She felt a sense of mischievous satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Lance boarded a plane to the Middle East.
Gunner accompanied him.
Eula also went along.
After several hours of flight, they arrived in the evening.
Lance had no intention of resting and immediately sent Xavier to contact Joe, the leader of Eagle Gang.
Joe was puzzled but agreed to meet Lance upon learning he had arrived.
The meeting place was at Eagle Gang's headquarters.
After being checked for weapons, Lance and his team were led into the reception room.
Joe was already waiting on the sofa.
He didn't look like a gang leader at all. His features were handsome, and he wore a gentle smile, exuding an air of elegance.
Seeing Lance's group enter, Joe's eyes showed surprise. "What brings you two troublemakers here? Have a seat."
