Seeing a grown man crying in front of her, Deanna felt a surge of irritation.
She scolded coldly, "Stop crying!"
Dayton immediately stopped his tears and looked at her with wide eyes.
Meeting his gaze, Deanna felt a headache coming on.
She thought for a moment and decided to change the subject. "I heard you call me Kamila just now. Tell me my name and family information."
After speaking, she paused and threatened, "No hiding anything, or you'll face the consequences when I find out."
Dayton was speechless.
This woman had been so cautious before, and now she was showing her true colors?
Even with amnesia, she was this fierce. What would she be like without it?
He couldn't believe Lance liked such a woman; his taste was truly unique.
Dayton complained inwardly but kept a straight face as he continued to fabricate Deanna's identity. "Your name is Kamila Faulkner, you're 25 years old, and we were college classmates. I fell in love with you at first sight and pursued you relentlessly until you finally agreed. After graduation, you joined my family's company, but you often neglected me because of work. However, we are not short of money; my allowance is enough to support you for a lifetime. And now that you're pregnant, you shouldn't work anymore when we get back. I'll take you to meet my parents; they'll be very happy. After the baby is born, we'll have a wedding..."
"Stop!"
Deanna quickly interrupted him.
She looked at him with a complicated expression and said, "I asked for my information, not your future plans."
Unbeknownst to her, Dayton had deliberately deviated from the topic.
He had only roughly planned this and hadn't thought of creating a detailed background for Deanna.
Moreover, without thorough preparation, it would be easy to expose flaws.
But seeing Deanna's insistent expression, he knew he couldn't avoid it and had to continue fabricating.
"You are an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. Because of your intelligence, you completed your university education with scholarships and part-time jobs. You even spent two years as an exchange student at a business university abroad. That's when we met, and I was deeply attracted to your resilience..."
"What was the name of the orphanage?"
Deanna interrupted Dayton's emotional narrative again.
It was clear she wasn't fooled by Dayton's fabricated information and had her own thoughts.
Dayton was stumped again and couldn't help but think this woman was incredibly difficult to deal with.
Of course, he became more determined and quickly thought of an orphanage connected to the Poole family.
He refused to believe he couldn't outsmart Lance's woman!
Deanna memorized the name of the orphanage and then started to dismiss him. "I'm a bit tired; you should leave."
"I don't want to leave. You've just woken up; let me stay with you."
Dayton didn't want to leave so soon after setting up his affectionate persona.
As he spoke, he moved closer to Deanna.
Deanna immediately frowned.
She smelled alcohol and tobacco on him and coldly looked up. "I remember you said you were very worried about me?"
Dayton was taken aback, not expecting Deanna to ask this suddenly.
Just as he was about to answer, a mocking voice interrupted him.
"So your worry led you to drink at a bar?"
In Deanna's mind, only bars had such smells.
Dayton was left speechless and regretted underestimating this woman.
He had thought she was like other women he'd dealt with before and that her amnesia would make her gullible.
Who knew that even with amnesia, she still had her own set of thoughts?
Thinking quickly, Dayton found an excuse. "I was very worried about you. I went to the bar not for fun but because my friends knew about our accident and your coma. They were worried I couldn't handle it and took me for a few drinks to relax."
Deanna gave him a deep look but didn't pursue the matter further.
Whether his words were true or not didn't matter to her.
She had asked just to test him.
"Alright, no need to be nervous. I was just asking casually. You can leave now; I don't need your company."
"Are you angry because you think I'm lying?"
Dayton pretended not to hear Deanna's dismissal and looked at her pitifully.
Deanna felt annoyed by his behavior. "I'm not angry; I just want to be alone for a while. But if you keep pestering me, I can't guarantee I won't get angry!"
