Less than an hour later, the man returned to Eula's side, his expression somewhat unsettled.
"Master, Lance is too much!"
"What happened?" Eula asked coldly.
The man didn't hold back and revealed the information he had gathered. "Lance has taken over all the territories we previously conquered and registered all the assets under Deanna's name."
"What did you say?" Eula looked over in shock, followed by an uncontrollable fury.
How could Lance do this? Deanna did nothing to deserve those assets!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Eula decided to confront Lance about it.
Later that day, she arrived at Mercer Group.
Meanwhile, in his office, Lance received word of Eula's visit and frowned. "What is she here for?"
Despite his confusion, he instructed his staff to bring Eula up.
As soon as she entered, Eula stormed to Lance's desk, placing her hands firmly on the surface and glaring down at him.
"Why did you register all the assets we conquered in Espuenia under Deanna's name? Some of those belong to me. Did you forget?"
Her face was full of anger by the time she finished speaking.
Lance looked up at her, his eyes cold. "I didn't forget. You did."
"What do you mean by that?" Eula was momentarily stunned.
Lance spoke plainly, "Before we set out, I approached you. I wanted all the assets from those families and offered you something else in exchange. You agreed."
Eula vaguely remembered now. It seemed there was indeed such a moment.
When they were about to leave, Lance had come to her with a gift she liked. She was so pleased that he knew her tastes that she agreed without thinking. After all, if she married Lance, those assets would eventually be hers anyway.
But she never imagined that Lance wanted those assets for Deanna!
This was something she couldn't tolerate.
Thinking of this, she said in a deep voice, "If that's the case, I regret it now. I want my share of the assets back."
Lance frowned, clearly displeased.
He had already completed the paperwork, and everything was under Deanna's name. Most importantly, he had shown Mr. Martinez the assets as part of Deanna's dowry. There was no way to change it now.
"How about this? I'll give you double the original value for your share of the assets," he said in a businesslike manner.
Eula looked at him in disbelief. She never expected Lance, who never lost in business, to be willing to pay double just to keep the assets for Deanna.
This only made Eula more resentful and unwilling.
She didn't want to agree. But before she could speak, Lance's dismissive words reached her ears. "Your injuries should be mostly healed by now. Since you're better, you should return to Espuenia soon. They need you there. Besides, people have started noticing you here. If you don't want to be deported and make global news, you'd better leave soon."
"Are you kicking me out?" Eula looked at him in disbelief.
Lance replied indifferently, "I'm not kicking you out. You've been here long enough. You know your identity is dangerous for Chiaz."
Eula couldn't argue with that.
After a moment, she found her voice again and scoffed, "I'm not done having fun yet. It's just a little attention. With your abilities, I'm sure you can cover it up. I'll go back when I'm ready!"
With that, she left the office without waiting for Lance's response.
Back in her car, her face turned dark.
From their conversation, she felt more strongly that if Deanna didn't disappear, she would have no chance at all.
But she couldn't make a move herself.
"Avery, find out who else hates Deanna and wants her gone," Eula instructed her trusted aide in the driver's seat.
Since Emily wasn't an option, she'd find someone else.
Avery nodded and immediately arranged for an investigation into Deanna's enemies after dropping Eula off.
Meanwhile, Deanna was unaware of any of this.
At that moment, she was at the research institute with Lionel and their master, focusing on the components of a special medicine.
After their discussion, they unanimously agreed that their data had been tampered with, altering some formulas and figures.
"If the formulas and data were tampered with, restoring them will be a huge task," Lionel said gravely.
Gunner remained silent but looked at Deanna, clearly wanting to hear her thoughts.
Deanna pondered for a moment before a flash of inspiration crossed her mind.
