6. New Bonds
"Increase the security around the borders and also the pack house Lily, I don't want a similar mishap to happen again. Make the warriors go through even rigorous trainings," Christian instructed the girl standing in front of him, tall and steady, her blonde hair falling up to her shoulders, clad in metal armour. Christian generally did not prefer going on a war, specially when he's one of the five Alpha's of the council. He needed to maintain the peace and dignity for all the other small packs to follow.
"All will be done as per orders Alpha. But now coming back to Christian, what's wrong with you ? You are continuously touching your back and shoulders," Lily asked while Christian withdrew his hands from his back, Lily looked in closer to try to inspect the situation better.
"Yeah just a little sore," He replied, sleeping on the couch was apparently more difficult than he had earlier thought, resulting in all those aces. He got up earlier than he has ever been, checked on Immery who was soundly sleeping on the bed, debated and fought the urge of getting into the bed with her before bolting the door and leaving. He wanted to give her time before the passion finally consumes them.
"Just go on a run then. I will handle the morning meeting and trainings. A good morning run will heal you up better than any medicine. Plus your wolf will be happy too," Lily suggested, moving her eyes away from Christian to focus on the werewolf warriors, starting their training in further distance.
Christian stretched his arms out before nodding at Lily. Taking her advice felt the best at that time before he would see Nicholas, who would be coming over soon enough. He knew he had responsibility towards Alec too, his wolf, and that he loved a good run. Last night he rejected Alec's urge to get closer to their mate for obvious reason, giving him a good morning run felt like a nice apology.
"Let's take our mate too ?" Alec spoke at the back of his mind, making Christian subconsciously turn back towards the pack-house.
"Too excited to get her aren't you ?" Christian asked back, knowing how Alec would probably react when he actually get's to see and touch Immery in his wolf form. Werewolves in their transformed form were the least to care about any controls, specially in front of their unmated mates.
"You know that she still doesn't has her wolf don't you ? Or else we would have had mated each other last night itself," Alec spoke back while Christian nodded. He knew it was tough for Alec knowing that their mate was right in front and how long it had already been. They have waited too long for her.
"You know that she can still reject us right ?" Christian questioned, he knew this question was and has bugged him a lot. What if after finding her she rejects them ? What if they aren't worthy enough for her ?
"We jump into the eternal fire," Alec answered, after a long pause. It was true, that's what Christian had always planned, to either live their life happily with their chosen mate or jump into the blazing eternal fire, ending the blessing of an eternal life.
Christian did not answer back to that. He did not have one. He knew that now that he had his mate, in front of him, he did not want to do that. He did not want to lose her. There was still a lot to know about Immery and he knew that even if already felt that mate connection with her, she would be needed to go to the Book of Blood along with the brothers to verify it.
And that could be done only on her eighteenth Birthday, which he guessed was soon looking at her human features.
Christian went towards his pack-house, unlocking the door to walk inside. Maybe he was considering of taking Alec's advise of taking Immery for the run, if she wanted it too. He did want to show her his word, present in front of her what she was going to be a part of. He did want to bare all of himself in front of her, wanted her to know that he was a beast. A wolf.

"Get up, sleepy head," a warm syrupy voice rang out in the room as Nicholas turned to face the source of the voice, placing his head on his elbow to look at the brunette in front of him. A smile breaking out on both their faces as Nicholas threw the blanket off him, to engulf the person in front of him with his arms.
"After a long time Riley," he greeted her as they separated from each other. Riley smiled, seeing her old friend again made her happy.
"I promised that I would come back Nick," she whispered out as she held his hand, their cold palms perfectly matching with each other.
"You did."
Nicholas looked at her, while Riley stared back, they had known each other since over two centuries, when they were teenagers.
"What took you so long Riley ?" Nicholas asked, his tone one that of hurt. He wasn't the one who believed about the mate bond at first, he wanted to make his own world and craved that Riley would be a part of it. But she left. Way before they could ever become a thing.
"You know I had to leave Nick, I always did. But I am back now, isn't that good ?" Riley asked, her eyes filled with hope that maybe he still liked her like before ? That they still stood a chance.
Nicholas looked away from her, taking back his palm from her hold, staring out at the world through his window. A world where his mate was, and that he was supposed to be there for her.
"It's too late Riley," he answered her while she nodded, looking away to hide those tears form him. She wasn't the one to break in front of anyone, she never thought that they were going to work but giving it a chance wasn't wrong.
"Ohkayy..then we can be just friends ? I am here to stay for a long time," Riley spoke as she took a pillow and hit Nicholas with that to put off the pensive mood. Nicholas chuckled as he got off the bed, rubbing his eyes, before giving out a cat like yawn with those fangs.
"What for though ?" He asked, slipping on his sweat pants, not really caring about Riley's presence for they have had a past together to really care less about it.
"Your dad called me, saying that it's urgent," Riley answered as she moved her eyes away from Nicholas to rather look around the room.
"You haven't changed the place much, Nick. Also your door still has my finger print ?," she stated as she watched the familiar furniture and the decorations. She was surprised as how the door still opened to her finger print, giving her a hope that he did not completely move on from her.
"There hasn't been much happening since then Riley, until now," Nicholas answered, his voice deepening as he said the last words. He knew how just two days before he was discussing about wanting to give up on the mate hunt that they both were on and to rather move on with just anyone to feed the hunger that they were burning with but it was all gone. They found her and he craved to go over and see her.
"I understand. Can we have catch up over the breakfast together ? Before uncle Wonderhood calls me for the meeting ?" Riley asked as Nicholas nodded his head in agreement.
"Yeah sure. I have somewhere to go after that."
