5. Seeking Comfort.
"But how ? I-I am a...human ?" Immery asked, shock written all over her face. She couldn't possibly think straight after they literally told her that she was their mate and moreover it would kill her ?
Everything that happened since the last night was already pretty overwhelming for Immery, this new revelation just added onto it and was making her feel dizzy.
"We know. It might sound outrageous to you but we always knew that we would have a human mate and you smell like our mate. The aura around you is alluring and captivating. The moment I sniffed you in the forest I knew we found you. Our mate," Christian told reminiscing how pleasurable the feeling was to first smell her was, she smelled like forest and spices but covered with blood which angered him, bringing out his feral side of protecting his mate which made him and Nicholas hunt her captors down.
"We have lived for over four centuries already, searching for our mate and now that we have you. I don't want you to not choose us. But you can, and we will respect your choice irrespective of the consequences," Nicholas said, his words adding onto Immery's dilemma, each word of him hurting his soul for right now he wanted nothing than to hold her hand and keep her by his side, forever.
"Is this..really possible ?" Immery whispered out, which was enough for the brothers to hear. Their heart resonating with the pain and confusion that Immery was going through.
"Yes. The process is long and insanely intimate but this is true," Nicholas answered to which Immery looked into his eyes trying to understand what exactly she had put herself into.
The trio stayed silent for long, Immery's mind mostly racing and thinking about the entire situation while the brothers eagerly looked at her for an answer. Their eyes sparkling, giving away the emotions that they were feeling in their heart.
"I think you deserve to take your own time and think over all of it so I will take you guys leave now," Nicholas said with a sigh. He knew he had to leave even if he did not want.
"Where are you going ?" Immery asked quickly, she did not know why she cared but she named it as just curiosity in her head.
"Its complex Immery but I do not live here. I have my own city in the neighbourhood where I live and taking you there isn't the safest right now so we brought you here. You will stay here with Chris while I will come back in the morning after sorting out certain things," Nicholas explained to her. He knew the journey was going to be tough from now on but he was ready to fight for it if that meant they get the future that they deserve.
Christian nodded to this. Nicholas took a step in Immery's direction, carefully placing his hand over her shoulders, while hers dangled by her sides. She knew he meant no harm to her so she tried to warm up to the touch, his touch.
"You will be safe here and I promise that. And if you need me, just say my name and I will be there beside you. Instantly," Nicholas assured Immery, moving away once she nodded. Nicholas wasn't the one to be much expressive or emotional but he knew that the girl before him needed the assurance.
"I will take care of her bro, you can go. Do you think I should come with you till the border ?" Christian asked while Nicholas shook his head side ways.
"I will take a run and don't forget I am the stronger one," Nicholas said with a smirk before ruffling Christian's hair and moving towards the door. He looked back once before leaving, his eyes settling on Immery's form, capturing her beautiful frame and those insecurity in her eyes, his pupils hardened as a new determination to make it all work settled in him.
"So do you feel better ?" Christian asked in an attempt to start a conversation, he wasn't much the silent one so this awkward silence was tough for him to bear.
"Uh Yes. Very much. Thank You for the food," Immery replied gratefully a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips. That little smile of her's warmed his heart up knowing that he wanted nothing else than to see it every day.
"Do you want to rest ? I will also take a look at your bruises then hmm ?" Christian suggested, looking at the bruises that had now turned bluish on her shoulders.
Immery nodded for she was still fatigued and the delicious food in her stomach added to her drowsiness.
"Great. Follow me," Christian jumped out of the chair, leading Immery back to the bedroom. The entire floor belonged to him as the Alpha which ensured complete safety to Immery.
Immery walked closely behind him, observing the interior of the pack house which resonated with nature. Werewolves in general were creatures that are close to the earth and its natural resources, Christian's pack was no different. The entire Pack house was curved out of a large cave and the flooring were made with wood.
"Umm you can take the bed, I will take the couch," Christian pointed the bed to Immery as he looked at the couch for himself. The couch was way small to fit his large frame but he did not want Immery to get ideas and even possibly piss off Nicholas by sleeping on the same bed.
Immery looked at the bed in awe. She had seen it back in her house but no one let her lay on them. She was once caught and punished when she sneaked in to just get a feel of the bed. But her mind shifted quickly when she heard his words, they were going to sleep in the same room ?
She looked back at him taking an account of how large he was versus the couch.
"I can take the couch, you can have your bed," she whispered reluctantly, every part of her self wanted to lay down on the bed.
"Nah I wouldn't want my mate to sleep on the couch when I am perfectly capable," Christian said with a chuckle as he emphasised on the word mate, causing tingles in Immery's abdomen as she stood by the bed.
Immery cautiously lowered her finger onto the bed, taking back her hand almost immediately as she felt the utterly soft mattress, being used to sleeping on the cold floor.
"Your new clothes will arrive by tomorrow so tonight you can sleep in this if you want," Immery turned towards Christian when she heard him, immediately being slapped on her face by a piece of fabric that directly hit her face. She took it in her hands only to realise that it was the tee he was wearing, she looked up to find him looking away from her, his back facing her front as he picked up the pillows and laid them on the couch, his perfectly build back muscles flexing as Immery stared at him, a red hue settling on her cheeks. Her eyes roamed to the lengths of his shoulders, taking note of the black tread around his neck which she hadn't noticed earlier.
"You are staring at me Immery," Christian stated, his voice carrying a mischievous tease as he spoke, still facing away from Immery catching her off guard.
"B-but how did you-?"
"So I am correct ?" Christian turned towards and looked at her with a smirk on his face, Immery's eyes immediately lowered to take in the visuals of his bare chest subconsciously before she set her eyes back on him.
"You were looking at my back like a child watches their candy, bound to realise sweety," Christian told as he walked towards her and ruffled her hair before taking the extra quilt that was on the bed.
Immery tried to shake off the little giddy feeling off her as she looked at the tee in her hand once before walking towards the washroom to change into it.
Christian on the hand grew nervous as he heard the washroom door lock, looking at the little couch in front of him.
Should I ask her to let me share the bed with me ? Uh no, I might scare her off, he thought in his mind, his eyebrows crunching when he heard the door unlocking. He turned his head towards her only to break into a soft smile looking at the girl in front of him.
Immery walked inside the room, fixing the shirt that almost reached her knees and were almost slipping off her shoulders. Christian's eyes travelled from her head to toe, taking account of how adorable she was looking in his tee.
"You look better than what I look in that ," Christian commented pointing out towards Immery's clothing before seating himself on the couch. Immery looked at him doing that, wondering how was he going to sleep for the night for he already occupied most of the couch.
"Sleep Immery. You and I both need it. Also remember you are safe in here with me. Sleep well," Christian told her, as she got on the bed, the soft mattress welcoming and cushioning her body, making her feel cozy and warm against the cool aired room. Immery found herself lying faced towards Christian's couch, the room engulfing into darkness as she saw the last of Christian's glowing eyes, providing her some sort of safety.
