4. Knowing Her Mates
"Is the food that good ?" Christian asked in astonishment as he saw the girl nearly half his size gulp down the entire triple meant sandwich in no more than one minute. Immery did not answer to that, too busy to satisfy her hunger. She hadn't ate for about the last two days, and something flavourful since ages.
"Is she like a...dragon ?" Christian asked Nicholas, the thought seemed to have struck his head hard.
"Nahh..dragons perished a century back," Nicholas answered calmly focusing more on Immery.
Nicholas watched too but rather in wary, he poured down a glass of water for her and passed it down to her side looking at her huffing and stuffing the food on her plate.
"Calm down Immery, its alright. Slow down. You will have as much as food you need from now on, don't hurry," Nicholas spoke in his soft voice, while Immery looked at him. She had never heard someone take her name that dearly, it had always accompanied with some sort of pain or shouts.
Immery kept back her almost finished foot long sandwich, her face covered with crumbs and sauces, chewing the remains in her mouth. Nicholas passed down a napkin to her, which she shyly took as she wiped out her face.
"There.." Nicholas pointed towards a particular crumb that was stuck near Immery's nose. Immery took the napkin and tried to find the spot before Christian casually picked up his own and wiped it off, inching closer to her as he intently stared into her honey brown orbs, immediately earning a cough from Nicholas.
"Just helping ya know," Christian casually shrugged as he sent a mischievous look to Nicholas who surely looked unamused by the act for both the brothers were feeling attracted to her much to Immery's confusion.
She still couldn't make out their motive. Vampires generally took in humans to make them their blood slaves, but here he clearly stopped himself from doing so to her and she did not know much about werewolves but Christian surely intrigued her. His physic and nature was much different from Nicholas, he was more well built and muscular than Nicholas but had the complete opposite nature. Nicholas was taller while Christian was an inch shorter giving out the perfect brotherly vibes.
"Don't you like speaking much ?" Christian asked Immery as the workers cleared out their empty plates and cleaned the table.
"Thank You for the food," Immery answered, hoping that would make them happy and they would give her more food unlike back in her house where she hardly received one full meal.
"Welcome for that but it isn't the answer," Christian replied to which Immery stiffened, scared that maybe she did something wrong and maybe punished for her words.
Nicholas sensed her fear real quick eyeing Christian to soften up with her. Nicholas surely wasn't a man of showcasing care and emotions but he valued them greatly.
"Relax Immery. You are safe here. I know a lot happened after we got you here but one thing is sure that you are safe. You can stay and speak freely here and I will make sure to keep this blood sucker a lil away from you," Christian assured Immery with a soft touch of his palm against her back while Nicholas glared at her.
"I am letting you go just for now or I wouldn't mind kicking your ass..hard," Nicholas said in his mind, letting Christian know it by mind linking.
"You have been with us for quite a long time and before I leave we can maybe formally know each other ?" Nicholas suggested pointing towards the workers and guards around. Christian immediately nodded and ordered to leave them in privacy.
"So I am Christian Wonderhood, The Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, and you are currently in my pack house. You can call me Chris, and yes I am hotter than my brother," Christian formally introduced himself to Immery taking her hand in his to immediately feel a spark through their bodies, confirming Christian's suspicion further and placing a soft kiss on her knuckles making her grasp in reaction. She eyed where there hands met, absorbing the heat that was radiating from the hold. She watched him as he took her palm and placed the kiss, his eyes never leaving her's.
Nicholas cleared his throat before starting to speak drawing Immery's attention towards him, while Christian just rolled his eyes.
"And I am Nicholas Wonderhood, the heir to the city of Wonderhood and of course a vampire," he introduced himself with a fanged smile which Immery eyed curiously before nodding.
"Now its your turn," Christian suggested, shifting his weight on his right leg and turning towards Immery to get a better access.
"Uh I ?" Immery suddenly felt nervous. She did not really know what to exactly say about herself for she has had no great thing in her life.
"Yeah. We should also get to know about you right ?"
"Okay. I am Immery and I am a...human ?" Immery shuttered not knowing what else to say. She was literally among a vampire and a werewolf with their beautiful lives nothing about her could be as eventful as theirs.
Christian immediately started laughing at this while Nicholas tried to hide his smile. She looked adorable while being clueless and he would give her that.
"Fine. So how did you end up in the forest like that ? You said something about your family right ?" Nicholas asked maintaining his poker face as he ran his hand through his dark black hair.
Immediately flashes of the torture that she was put through before she finally decided to escape from the house came in her mind, the countless number of scars from the whip across her back was a prove all of it.
"Yes. They threw me out...when I denied to get married to an elderly man, who was already married with kids," she spoke as her voice trembled a little at the thought of how her life might have turned to be if she would have gotten married.
"Go on," Nicholas encouraged her as she quickly wiped the tears that were threatening to come out from her eyes.
"Those vampires caught my scent as I was roaming around the outside of the town alone and started chasing me down where you both found me and saved my life...without that I...I...would..," Immery immediately broke down after this, the break down that did not happen yesterday finally dawning upon her.
"Hey don't cry..it all-"
"No Chris let her cry, humans express their emotions through it. Crying will make her feel better," Nicholas told Christian who nodded before pouring down a glass of water and passing it down to Immery. Christian rather went to rub her back, a move that calms down humans according to him immediately causing her to flinch back, hard.
"What's wrong ?" Christian asked raising his hand in the air, scared that he did something wrong.
"S-sorry...it just..the whips..my family.." Immery spoke between hiccups as she cried profusely, her body had accustomed itself to be hurt, every kind of touch even a soft one made her flinch so bad.
Nicholas's eyes darkened unknowingly as he heard her finish, the instant thought of slitting the throats of every member of her family coming into his mind.
"That's ridiculous...you are ours," Christian spoke in a fit of rage, immediately regretting of saying that out loud. Immery's eyes widened as she stood up from the chair, in fear that they were going to do something wrong to her.
"..what ?"
Nicholas face palmed himself knowing things were now kind of out of the kitty, Immery looked at them, and he knew that she deserved the answer and the reality of the situation.
"You fucked it up Chris," Nicholas mind linked him, giving him a hardened look, while he just gave him a apologising look.
"What Chris said is correct. Its your choice at the end but its true," Nicholas answered making Immery's mind race hard. He knew saying that out loud was hard for it was going to painful if she rejected them.
I am their's ? But how and what does that even mean, were the words in her head.
"What do you mean ?" Immery's hands gripped the wood of the table hard, not really knowing if she could now handle the truth at all.
"I am sorry I should have broken this news to you in a better way, we wanted it to be easy for you to take but I clearly fucked up..," Christian admitted his fingers toying with each other as he looked down while Nicholas nodded.
"You are our chosen mate Immery. The one mate to the two of us." Nicholas spoke the next words while Immery just looked at them as if she had seen a ghost, her heart beat rising as goosebumps spread across her body.
"And its going end up killing you..." both the brothers finished their sentence in unison a pained look of the consequences in their eyes, remembering the tales.
