Chapter 56 Chapter 56

Chapter 56 Chapter 56
Kael’s pov

During my drive back home, I got a text on my phone, which had me looking at the screen for a brief moment, but what I saw had me smiling.

It was a message from Selene‘s brother giving me a location of where she was going to be and putting a warning at the bottom of the message for me to behave carefully around her as she was fragile.

I smiled, locking the phone and putting it upside down as I drove into the packhouse garage and parked my car.

The moment I got out of the car, my guards rushed to me as I gave them my key and walked into the house.

It was filled with lots of people talking, cleaning and arranging things, and when I rounded the corner to climb up the grand stairs, I saw Dorian climbing down it as our eyes clashed.

“I went to your study, but didn’t see you there.”

I nodded, “I had to go out.”

He didn’t argue. He only stepped out of my way as I climbed up then he followed me.

The moment I got to the top, I turned to look at him.

“What is it?”

“Care for a game of chess?” he asked, and who could refuse? After all we had played multiple times in the past and I was used to winning so I agreed.

“Sure, but just get ready to lose.”

He chuckled. “I’ll try my best this time Alpha.”

We then headed into my study.

Two minutes into the game and he was already beating off most of my players, and he had one more move to make which would define the game as I looked up at him.

“It seems like you’re getting good.”

He shrugged, making the last move before pulling back in his seat, grabbing his drink from his side stool and taking a sip of it.

“I love playing chess with you, but there’s one thing that you really really misunderstand Alpha.”

“Which is what?”

“It is the fact where you think that you are the only one who wins every single game. When in reality, I let you win.”

He was getting smug. I had to fix that.

“Why don’t we play a second one and find out what’s going on.”

He nodded as we shuffled the game and then he won that one and the one after that and the one after that.

After winning four games, he leaned back, chuckling.

“It seems like today is your day,” I said before looking at the time on my phone as I placed it down. Time was going. I needed to go and meet up with her.

He stared at me with his hands clasped in front of his face before he put them down on the armrest, “I may be jumping off a bridge here, but you seem to be looking at your phone from time to time.”

He noticed my moves as I smiled. “I have somewhere to be.”

He raised a brow, “and this somewhere is where?”

“I finally got her location. I have to be with Selene.”

His eyes got wider. “Selene? You know where she is? How? Thought you didn’t know…”

“I had to speak to her brother and her brother gave me her address.”

“Do you think it’s the best decision right now to bring her back?”

I leaned forward to match his gaze, “Dorian, she is my true mate.”

But he’s coughed a laugh, leaning back, folding his arms with an angry expression over his face.

“If this is another one of your plans where you think she’s going to come back and then you’ll toss her out, I will personally make sure that you have me to deal with now.”

I was confused as why he was getting aggressive. Didn’t he want me and Selene to have a wonderful relationship? Why was he pushing her away and now I wanted to go and get her.

I then pointed at him. “You were the one who told me to be there for her. I went there to talk to her brother so that I can get her address since she’s not picking up my phone call and now I want to go over to her and meet up with her, you don’t want me to meet up with her.”

He shook his head. “You don’t understand, you embarrassed her in front of the pack twice. Are you sure going to meet up with her is your best option? Because if you go over there to meet up with her and you bring her back and embarrass her in front of the pack again I will personally ask for your removal from the position of alpha.”

I scoffed, looking away then looking back at him, “is that a threat?”

He shook his head, slowly getting to his feet, “it is a promise Alpha. Selene is not someone you just toss away. She has been giving her undivided attention and her unrequited love for years and what have you done but left her at the altar and gone for the omega?”

“Okay,” I said, getting to my feet to match his height. “I’m tired of you bringing up the omega. She’s a done deal. I need her power. That is all, she is not my mate. She’s not someone I’m in love with. She’s just someone that I am using.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “You’re using her but when the elders tried to do the same you went mad at them.”

I shook my head, “what they did was trafficking, what I’m doing is for the good of the pack since she has healing properties that can raise even me up from the dead. If we help her hone has skills, she could be as good as Mara if not better.”

He looked at me for a while, still not believing everything I was saying, but he nodded and walked around the table to stand beside me.

“I do hope you know what you’re doing Alpha, because to be clear, this pack has reached a breaking point. And if you don’t get yourself together, it will break.”

“I totally understand you.”

He then gave me a smile. “Good have fun. Go get your girl and greet her for me.”

With that, he placed a firm hand on my shoulder, giving me a tap before walking out, leaving me alone in the study.
