Chapter 54 Chapter 54

Chapter 54 Chapter 54
Kael’s pov

“Where is she?” I asked the man before me. He was Selene’s brother.

We were seated in a bar and I wanted to know where she was and where she had gone to.

He looked away from me as I stared at him, expecting answers that I was not seeing.

“Look,” I said, swirling my drink in my glass cup. I watched the amber liquid slosh around before looking into his eyes. “I just want to apologize to her for everything I had done to her in the past. I know that what I had done to her and how I had spoken to her and even the part where I left her at the altar was not good and that is why I am here to apologize to her. It’s not really that I want to insult her more. I just want to draw her closer.”

He chuckled, taking a swig of his drink before dropping the glass down and staring to the side watching the TV. There were hockey players from my pack and the neighboring pack playing as he shook his head slowly and turned to me.

“Do you know how many times I’ve been called by different people and asked what happened at the altar on that day. I know how many people came to speak to my sister and I know how many times I had to tell them not to talk to her, in fact I got arrested for around twelve hours for beating up some people who insulted my sister as they kept on saying she was secondhand. They kept on telling me that she was not good enough to be the luna and she should stop trying to be the luna. Do you know what that takes away from you? Away from her?”

I didn’t want to give him an answer yet as he chuckled, then continued. “It took me a lot to actually sit here before you when I heard you on the phone. My first thought was to curse you and drop the call, but I knew would put me into trouble and I also knew that it would not be good to do that because revenge wasn’t in my policy.”

He kept quiet for a moment, letting the din of the crowd get to us.

“My parents would be mad if I did that so I decided to pick up your call and agreed to meet with you so I could tell you how I was truly feeling now.”

He then looked at me with furrowed brows. “Imagine that I’m feeling this way. Now imagine how my parents are feeling as all their friends they brought to the wedding saw you leave Selene.”

I opened my mouth to say something, but then someone crossed us which had me keeping quiet. I looked back to the rest of the patrons talking about, and then looked at him.

He didn’t look happy. It was very clear that he was pissed at how I had treated his sister and he was holding himself back.

“All right,” I said, slamming my hands on the table and then turning into him. “What do you want me to do? I called you here because I needed to speak to your sister.”

He chuckled, taking a sip of his drink before turning into me.

“That’s the thing Alpha. I don’t know if I can give you her number because we are still dealing with how you treated us in the past and how you treated her over and over again. Remember the first mate you had, the one who died?”

Him saying that riled up an anger with me, but I swallowed it. I was here to make amends not to cause chaos.

“What about that?” The sound came out choked.

“Well, you started dating my sister before you met your supposed mate and when you met her, you married her, you made it public with her and the whole pack knew that Selene was just one mistake and it was okay. No one cared that she was pushed aside. It was normal. But you know what no one expected, it's you bringing her in a second time. You made a spectacle of her by bringing a wedding up in seven days after you came back from the dead. Then on the day that you were supposed to get married to her with the whole pack gathered, you left her. You shoved her aside and you disappeared right on your wedding day.”

I stayed quiet. My insides conflicting with the words I was hearing.

“So explain to me, ALPHA, why you are here now and saying you want to make amends and you want to find her. She has been disgraced enough in this pack. She just needs space away from you.”

I leaned close to him. “I’m just trying to fix it man trust me. I am trying to fix it.”

He shrugged, “that might be so Alpha, but I can’t let you disturb my sister where she’s having peace of mind. so if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be on my way.”

He got down from the stool and walked out of the bar as I stayed there for a while.

The sound of the bar got to me as I shot to my feet and walked out to follow him.

I wasn’t going to take no for an answer.

“Hey!” I called as he stopped and turned to me. I walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Just her number or maybe she might have change to a new one. She isn’t picking up my calls. I need to talk to her.”

He scoffed, “and for good reason.”

I rolled my eyes. “Let’s not go over this over and over again. If you can set up a meeting between me and her that would be great. I’m not going to push myself on her. I just need to talk.”

He could sense how serious I was as he raised a brow, then he got out of his phone to send a message before looking at me,

“I’ll text you when she replies. She doesn’t want me to give you her number. She wants to start anew.”

I could respect that:

“Fine,” I said as she turned and walked away from me, leaving me where I stood.
