Chapter 52 Chapter 52
Kael’s pov
Their muffled voices only agitated me further while I listened to them. The elders all threw solid points at me but did they make any sense? No. They did not. However, I wasn’t going to storm out. I would just sit here and listen to them even when it hurt me.
My wolf was now silent. I couldn’t hear him. Why?
“Alpha?” Someone said, causing me to look up at them with raised brows: “are you listening to what we’ve been saying? The fields need to be cleared out. How can we build a new mess hall if all we have are places that are covered by weeds?”
“They are not covered by weed but by nature,” another elder threw out as I sighed and leaned back.
“How about we talk about this when my head is in the right head space?” I asked as they all kept quiet instantly.
Slowly their murmurs got to me.
“Why is he being cranky?” Someone muttered.
“I heard that Selene left the pack because of him and now he’s torn.”
“Oh no, but she was the best one to be Luna. Who does he want to take her place? Does he not care about her?”
My anger got the best of me as I slammed my hand down, getting extreme silence.
“Out,” I growled as they hustled to their feet, bowed and rushed out, leaving me alone in the place.
With me alone in the council room, I was torn.
Everyone was right. I had been brought back from the dead and instead of me taking a break I had sex with that omega. Then to distract myself I decided to have a full blown wedding in seven days.
Who does that?
Then during my wedding I leave her stranded to go rescue that omega all because she was in danger.
Then I get back and cause so much chaos in my pack.
Why won’t everyone think me mad?
Taking in deep breaths, I slowly got to my feet and walked lazily to the window to look out of it.
The full view of the pack came into play as I smiled. I admired watching over my pack. But they needed an alpha who would not stand by and watch it fall apart. I needed to create a strong community.
But how?
Having a mate would be the best way to do that. With the chaos I had caused over time, if I were to bring back Selene and actually get married to her, it would break away the tension.
I got out my phone from my pocket and looked at her picture in my gallery.
She was the ideal Luna, the woman the pack expected at my side.
I slowly thought of all the beautiful times we had spent together. All the love and the warmth and joy. It was beautiful. Filled with so much memories that brought tears to my eyes.
She had been there for me through it all. Why did I treat her with such disrespect?
I tapped a button that took me to the Home Screen before I tapped on the phone app. I stared at her number.
I had been calling for hours and gotten nothing from her.
She left yesterday and she was still dodging my calls.
Maybe the best thing would be to go and find her.
I scrolled through the contact list and got out her brothers name as I called his number and he answered.
“Where are you?”
“Alpha,” he gasped. “It is an honor…”
“Where are you?”
“At home alpha.”
“Meet me in my study in thirty minutes.”
“Yes alpha.”
I cut the call and looked at the door. Duty can silence chaos. If she wasn’t going to come to me then I would go to her to bring her back.
Eliara’s pov
“Your patient is dead,” Mara said with mocking laughter. “Look around you. The other students are thinking about why you’re here.”
I looked around to see some of them staring at me in anger then looked back at Mara.
“Let’s do it again: this is a healing class. It means you need to take your classes seriously or you’ll have to fail. And I don’t deal with failures.”
I nodded and hovered my hand over the doll, concentrating to fuse my aura with the dolls pressure points.
I gritted my teeth, trying so hard while hearing giggles around me which only worsened my situation as I couldn’t continue.
I put my hand down and stepped back.
“I… I can’t do it.”
Some of the students scoffed as Mara stared at me in anger before nodding.
“Very well. I’ll give you a pass because we started the lessons yesterday. But even children know how to use their auras to heal much less an adult like you. Unless you weren’t cut out for being a healer, I don’t know why the alpha wants you here,”
She looked at the rest of the class.
“Helga, you take lead and clean up the class with the others.”
Helga came forward with a smile on her face as she looked at me before scoffing and looking away.
I gulped.
Ever since I had been here, Helga had not been welcoming to me. She had said some nasty things about me which I didn’t like but it wasn’t like I could fight her. I would lose. She was one of the leaders daughters and a prodigy at healing. I was a nobody and I was way over my head by being here.
I watched Mara walk out as I sighed and got to my feet to leave which had one of helgas friends blocking my way.
“Where do you think you’re going to?” Helga said from behind as I turned to see and the rest of the class staring at us.
“Class is over. I thought…”
“Did I say you could leave?”
From the tone of her voice, this was about to get into a full blown fight.
