Chapter 49 49

Chapter 49 49

CAMILLA'S POV

He loved her.

I hated that confirmation but he most definitely did. There was no going around it. It was right in front of my fucking face blocking my every fucking attempt. It’s irritating and pushing me into a constant state of displeasure.

And it doesn't take a genius to realize I hate her gut, I hate every fucking thing about her. Her existence included. I wished she could just crawl back to whatever hellhole she crawled out of. This was definitely my fault. If I didn't carelessly leave without a plan, pest wouldn't have the opportunity to slip into my carefully created nest. But I am back now, just in time to trap the fuck out of their asses.

He called her his mate. Ha!
At first, I thought things between them were a fling. He has that once in a while, pick up interest in a certain woman, use her like the world would end the next day, and then become bored and toss her away like the used rag she was. Now I have no problem with that.

But love? That was something only I deserve. And Luna? Seriously? That girl could barely carry herself around, let alone lead a fucking metropolis. She can’t, there is no seeing the good side of this. And even if she can, she will have to step over my dead body to climb the throne chair. I am definitely not going to die so it’s easy to tell what will happen at the end.

I sighed as I raised my head to glare at Axel. He was poking me in the arm yet again. If you never get to see him and only know him through stories, you had better swear he is a fucking child still suckling on their mother’s milk.

“What is it this time?” I sighed

“You have that look on your face again.” He was talking with his mouth open while eating. I tossed my face away, not wanting to see anything that would fuel my need to vomit.

“What look?” I barely opened my mouth, already tired of his nagging. I have better things to do with my fucking time.

“That “I am plotting to kill somebody” look.”

“Well, maybe I am actually plotting to kill somebody.” I shrugged. The one thing I appreciate about being around him unlike Lucius, is that I do not have to watch what comes out of my mouth. We had much more of a similar logic when it comes to tackling life.

“I am about to head out to attend to matters in the south yeah, you can tag along and have some fun if that is the case.” He nudged my shoulder again. I must have begun to zone off again.

“What problem does your pack have with the south?” The last I checked, his land was too far away from the south for him to possibly pick any crisis with them. But on second thought, this is Axel, he would do anything just for the fun of it.

“Not mine. Lucius.” He took a long sip of his wine. “There is a major protest going on or some, those idiots don’t want to drop it.”

“So you are helping him out?” A frown began to form on my forehead by merely thinking of the idea.

“Yeah.” He grumbled between mouthfuls.

“Why?” I know Lucius, he isn't the type to let his matter get handled by anyone else, not even his best friend.

“Because I wanted to, you got a problem with that?”

“None, just a bit skeptical as to why he would let you do that. You and I both know how thorough he can get when it comes to affairs of his space.”

“True, I was a bit shocked when he sought my help even.”

“He asked you to do it? Not the other way round.”

“You can go ahead and ask him if you don't believe me.”

“Why the heck won't I believe you. I am just shocked is all. That sure as heck doesn't sound like him.”

“In his defense, his mate had been attacked the last time he was away, he wanted to prevent that from happening again so he sent me instead of going himself.”

“Wait.” I chuckled, nothing about it was funny. “You mean he decided not to go and perform his affair by himself because some girl who isn't fucking sufficient, has been attacked?” I knew he loved her and all, but I never knew it had reached this extent.

“Yes.” Axel Shrugged.

“And you don’t find that worrying?”

“He had done quite a lot of questionable things for her, trust me. This isn't much. I have seen worse.”

“Are we just going to sit around and watch some girl change the man we have known, supported, and cared for all our lives?”

“What do you want to do?” He glared at me sideways. “Erase her from his life or something?”

“If that is what it will take to bring him back to his scenes, we can do that too.” I almost yelled, hating how Axel was giving the whole conversation a cold shoulder.

“You don’t want to do that. She makes him happy. She gives him peace and getting her out of his life will definitely disrupt that. I have learn to tolerate her, you should too. I mean if you get to know her, she ain't that bad you know. Good heart, clean intentions, and shit, whatever you guys call it? She just had no motives behind being with him.”

“And how did you know that, you don’t move around with her all through the day or live in her mind.”

“I would have known the first day I saw her if there was a motive, you of all people should know that.”

“I still don't like the girl.”

“That’s your problem to deal with, I will be off now, the troops must be waiting for me.” He got up from his chair and walked out of the dining room, leaving me with cold food and an even colder heart.

These matters are up to me to handle then.
