Chapter 33 Bloomed
Olsen was taken aback by the low growl, staring at Mia with wide eyes.
His hand was still gripped around her neck, but it had become a little slippery.
“What are you waiting for, Olsen?” Ethan asked, staring with arched brows.
“Hurry up!” He urged, but Olsen was still cautious.
“Did you hear that? I thought you both said she is wolfless.”
“Yes, she is,” Chiron affirmed his words with a nod, but the doubt glittering in Olsen’s eyes lingered, prompting him to keep his eyes on Mia.
He heard her low growl again, and he was forced to let go of her.
It was hard to tell what was happening since her face was bowed to the ground.
“What are you waiting for, Olsen?!” Ethan asked impatiently, staring at Olsen.
A few seconds later, his impatience was drained, especially since he had been holding Mia still for a while.
Surprisingly, she had stopped struggling, fuming in a rage.
Olsen staggered backward, his eyes still wide with anxiety.
“Something is not right, guys.” He said with a shaky voice.
Chiron scoffed, shaking his head slowly.
“Don’t tell me that you are about to chicken out, Olsen. We are allowing you to have the first taste. If you are not going to do it, I will be glad to take your place.”
Ethan nodded, fully in support of everything Chiron said.
Olsen swallowed hard, still feeling the sensation that crawled into his nerves, causing him to take another step backward.
Suddenly, he heard a loud crack, and certain that the grunt and whimper that followed hard erupted from Mia, he looked carefully, bending his head slowly.
“Did you guys hear that?” He asked, but before any of them could get the opportunity to respond, Mia let out a shrilling cry, her head slowly tilting to the right.
The bones in her arms cracked, and her hands slipped off the grip of her assailers.
When she looked up, her eyes were no longer blue but were glowing like red fire.
Her canines pushed out, long and sharp like daggers.
Ethan recoiled, and so did Chiron.
They turned to each other, their nervous eyes demanding an explanation.
“I thought you said she was wolfless, Ethan!”
“That’s what I was told, Chiron! Everyone in Willow knows that the Alpha’s mate is yet to shift!” Ethan took a deep breath, but his heart kept on pounding against his ribcage.
“I think she just bloomed!” Olsen suggested, and that was the most logical explanation to the terrifying scenario occurring before them.
Mia fell to her knees, and before long, her arms were fastened to the ground.
She let out a loud growl, and as her bones continued to crack, her dress was shredded.
Her heels pulled away from her feet, and all the jewelry she was wearing snapped.
Just the moonlight pearl remained, but with her neck expanding, it was hard to tell if it was going to snap as well.
Mia shifted into a white wolf, large and scary.
It was hair, and had the longest claws.
Her flaming eyes were glaring at Olsen, causing him to stagger backward.
“That’s a lupine wolf! A freaking white wolf!” His hair stood like tall trees, horror churning inside his stomach.
He was not the only one who was drifting backward, Chiron and Ethan were already fastened to the walls behind them, trembling in fear.
Mia snarled, engulfed by an unquenchable rage.
She made a swift move, pouncing on Olsen before he could get the chance to make a move.
Olsen swallowed hard, shaking under the limbs of the white wolf.
With Mia’s weight pinning him to the ground, he turned to his cohorts, begging for their help, but they abandoned him to his fate, running to the door.
Iris followed suit, and as soon as the door was opened, they all ran out, scrambling away.
Alara ran into the lounge, and seeing the white wolf, she froze, her eyes wide with shock.
Hayley staggered in a few seconds later, and at the sight of the white wolf, she gasped, taking two steps backward.
“Is that…” She couldn’t finish her words, staring with wide eyes.
Olsen saw both life and death flashing before his eyes, his chest tightening as he tried to catch his breath.
“I am sorry! I am very sorry!” He pleaded for mercy, his voice losing the thunder it was used to.
Mia growled at him, pushing down her canines toward his neck.
Olsen shut his eyes, his breath quivering as he said his last prayer.
He could hear his heart beating like racing horses, his blood rushing like it was about to escape from his body.
Mia had already sunk her canines into his neck, thrusting while blood gushed out.
She was not in total control, struggling to fight the urge to take the life of her assailant.
Russell ran into the lounge with Marcus behind him.
Alara hurried to him as soon as she saw him, her eyes wide with apprehension.
“I am so glad you are here, Russell! Look!” She pointed to Mia, but she didn’t need to since the Alpha had already seen her.
Marcus hurried to her, grabbing her with both hands.
“Are you okay?” He asked, and she nodded, still staring at the white wolf.
Russell moved closely to the white wolf.
The eyes were not the same, but he could feel the strong scent, the same flowery sensation that had alerted him from afar.
But it didn’t seem like she was in danger.
He looked down at Olsen, and seeing that his life was about to be taken from him, he took a deep breath, gathering momentum.
“Mia?” He called out, his voice soft and audible.
Mia looked up at him, withdrawing her canines from Olsen.
But he was already passed out, still on the floor.
She growled at the Alpha, slowly getting off Olsen’s body.
Russell was wary of the white wolf as well, having seen nothing like it before.
“It’s me.” He muttered, taking two steps backward as he watched Mia move toward him, her eyes still burning like magma.
